Hi Barry,
you are absolutely right, but think of that in the computer world if there 
is a problem then there is a lot of solution. instead of java, try the b4a 
language what has a simple syntax and good support for android and ioio.

Hi Barry,

I have a lot of Java experience, but I find the Android difficult. The IOIO 
is the easy part. Arduino is basically stand alone, so simpler to program. 
IOIO is specifically for the telephone, and if you need the telephone 
(which I do), then IOIO is a great choice. It does all the i/o for you 
which isn't included in Android.

So if you want to control your son's RC car through the telephone, it is 
probably worth the effort to get it going.
