I don't know whether it's worth fixing (and how hard that would be) but in the previous discussion about sol not working properly with SIMSO+ cards, -vv resulted in two Decrypting... messages glued together without a newline in between them. If that's a feature, it might make sense to separate

[Ipmitool-devel] Supermicro BMC extended firmware version information

There is a supermicro tool which provides the firmware version of its BMCs called ipmicfg. This reports versions such as 1.59.12. However, when I run ipmitool mc info, I only get 1.59. Does anyone know where the extra version information is coming from ?

A 1 second interval on the firmware level is fairly heavy use. You will not want that. Anything less than about 2 minutes is a bit overkill for a small embedded system that shares its resources. For what it does, IPMITool is probably the fastest In-band and OOB IPMI level tool you will find.
