I haven't been on the E/W axis of KGO lately, but when I used to drive into the
Bay Area on 580 in the Pleasanton-Livermore area, KGO was pretty much
unlistenable as far as the audio quality goes...something about their pattern
which I never bothered to figure out. I doubt that IBOC would

The KGO signal has hiss in it. No doubt about that. They may lose a
lot of their night audience if they keep the HD at night. I had to
adjust the tone control on my Super Radio to mask the hiss. I can live
with it, but it is there and I doubt John Q Public will put up with it.

I awoke at 1320 UTC but decided sleep was more important, having been
somewhat discouraged by the IBOC findings of a few hours earlier.
Listened shortly after midnight PDT and found only three locals using

miles north of the red (local) line, at the top of the curve south of
Sunnyvale. They are pretty much gone here as of tonight. I

KOFI do anything about it,? I doubt it as KEX does not QRM KOFI in their
area, not with the tight pattern KEX has nulling the East.

I can see the tempers from many of us flaring. I can understand and side
with everyone. We see the hobby we have love go down the tudes because
of something that should never have been allowed. It comes down to the
old question What were they thinking?

Lots of DX fun here by Lake Michigan in Grafton WI. TA's all over and many
