No, it indicates that they have a PSRA, so
And to add to the PSRA/PSSA discussion, the FCC doesn't really ekep records
of that.. the stations do.. although, when Managing one station, I found out
about the station having PSRA thanks to the NRC AM Log!

I like the asterisks as I do not own a recent NRC log. :) Mine is
from 1990. I do understand that info on PSRA isn't complete but some
info is better than none. Could you import the PSRA info that you have
into a PSRA column and just change the asterisks to Y as in Yes?
Thanks.

The info in the NRC Log is also incomplete, simply because the PSRA powers
aren't always on the FCC's record. IIRC, those were to be self-certified via
fax or letter by the stations as to whether or not they were using them. I
don't believe that all of those paper records were ever transposed
A downside of the 1980's-era deregulation. Station personnel turn over quickly,
incomplete records are kept, records are lost, and the initial concept of
voluntary compliance never quite worked.

Is any attention paid to Pre-sunrise powers? I don't hear anything
different happening at 6am and haven't for years. It's just another

frequencies, station sign-ons at 6:00 would pile on in layers, often

For the most part, the variations in different power levels are lost in
transition when stations are sold, people leave, paperwork gets lost.
All of this began before the former daytimers were routinely getting night

That's another factor - these tiny power levels were never practical in the
first place. Back in the 1970's and 80's, most equipment couldn't handle them,
so many stations never used them and the 'allocations' are forgotten.
And many stations may be using other power levels - granted or

Hi Pat;
Where in Indiana are you located? I'm in Indy.
I have Albertville AL in my log but that is a good, rare catch!
If you are interested, I can email you off-list, a spreadsheet (or just
cut and pasted text) of 200 stations that I have heard in the last 18
months on simple ULR equipment
Good observations, Steve. I had thought that station on top of station
still signed on at 0600 but guess that I'm not DX'ing very often right
at that time. I *do* hear stations on assumed PSRA such as at 0645 when
the station's actual FCC sunrise may not be until 0745.
I do agree that Critical
DLF is playing a nice variety of music any time that I have ever heard them
here in the States and noting that this tends to be overnight in Germany.

Hi Bill,
756-DLF is an occasional visitor here in western Washington and western
BC, typically with music, as Marc and Kaz have noted. Reception of the
station does require great TA conditions and a serious antenna, however.
Nick and Walt in Victoria seem to receive it when TA conditions
Here in Seattle, it is also an occasional visitor. The same audio
programming is also transmitted on 1269, and very occasionally I can get a
parallel confirmation of the two. They were pretty good in November and a
little bit into December.
I agree with Gary - a good antenna is required. My
I have listened to Deutschlandfunk on the web or on sghortwave on few

both are broadcast over the air.
First is Deutschlandfunk which as Bill points states does have some news
content, but also as Marc states,

OK, so leave the asterisks alone now that we all know what they stand for.
Anyway, I don't see how it would be possible to list every power an AM might
have. The CE at WATH once told me they had six different power levels,
including a mere 26 watts at night. As I recall, he said they only
