Im guessing 1620 is the spawn of 1420... and I wouldnt be surprised at the
end of the 5 year rule, KRIZ's licenses goes bye bye..10KW Day/1KW Night on
1620 is better then 2 towers with 1KW Day/500W night.

KRIZ is a very rare catch here, 120 miles to the SW, as they protect
KITI. KRIZ has only been logged once or maybe a couple of times in the
last 40+ years here. Luckily I got them QSL'd too.

I noticed at 0930 UTC, several Alaskans are coming in with their old
strength.
750-KFQD tearing up KXL at 0930
780-KNOM playing Nights in White Satin o/u KKOH at 0932
850-KICY on top of channel with man in RR at 0940.
JOUB 774 wasn't bad either and 279 is weak.

Listened from 1237-1240 utc. Conditions picked up after 1300 utc.
Noise on the higher channels here. Lower channels continue to produce
more signals.
153RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1237-1241 steady S-3 signal with music.
189RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1305 weak S-1 signal with woman in Russian.
Listened from 1250-1315 utc and the TP's were the best so far this TP season
with all carriers and audio on the bottom part of the band. The best audio was
from JOUB-774 at 1258 utc and very weak audio on 279, 594 and 693. Weak
carriers on 279, 558, 585, 666, 693, 747, 828, 936 and 972.
This wasn't a very good morning for TPs. There were a few carriers
and a couple of stations with audio. Things were definitely down from
yesterday.
Good audio, mostly understandable by a native speaker
None
Fair audio, bits of it understandable by a native speaker
693 Japan
774 Japan
Things were down a bit from yesterday. The big guns from Japan had
audio on 594, 693, 747, 774, but no 567 today. Korea on 1566 was pretty
good but 972 didn't make it today. VOA 1575 was a no show, but on the
plus side, did note CNR on 1593 for my first Chinese of the season. No
audio

Hello All,
The Asiatic conditions were generally good here this morning, with the
first reception of the season for 675-VOV (Vietnam), and a couple of unusual

were down a little in strength, but North Korea seemed

Hi Derek,
Wow, some great TP recordings there! Want to trade your cliff-top
location next to the beach for an Ultralight radio? :-)
Your 531 kHz recording is definitely Japanese, presumably from the usual
dominant station on the frequency-- JOQG in Morioka. (I lived in Japan for 2

I heard Japan on 729 several times last season. Sometimes China was
there too, either mixing with Japan or by itself. They were somewhat
regular catches for me, despite the splash from CHMJ.
It's hard to tell for sure, but your short clip sounds like it could be
Japanese rather
Derek
I hear China and South Korea on 792. The male talk in the background
sounds Korean to me. Bill Harms might be able to say for sure.

What time did you hear it? It could have been a TP if it was around
sunrise. AFN-Tokyo is rare but has been heard with rock music. Russia
and China are sometimes heard on 810, and the music on the Russians
tends to be all over the map.

Get a little quiet AK conditions and it doesn't take long to get some TA,
at least LWBC. 162 France, 171 Morocco, 189 Iceland, 198 UK all at poor to

Derek, stunning reception! You are very lucky. First 531 is JJ, not
Tagalog. We usually hear the NHK1 station there. 657 is fabulous. Usually
heard with a buzzy transmitter or jamming, but pretty clear today. 792 was
difficult for me, but I see that Bruce figured it out. 837 is a mish-mash,

I think 1161 is Taiwan (BCC) which is our normal TP at Grayland. Was any
talking recorded? Or perhaps their distinctive jingle and chimes on the hour?

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for listening to the 729 kHz MP3. The lady is speaking so quickly
that it's tough to be 100% sure of the language, and even though my first
inclination was Korean, there was no Pyongyang BS parallel to check at the
time. You could be right about possible Japanese. The 729
