yes, I'm a day late with this, but this morning's loggings will take a little
while to compile (i.e. conditions were good), so I'll get this out first.
Listened at 1340 and 1410UT, and not very exciting, less so at 1410. Was on my
way to work by the time any sunrise enhancement started.
Congratulations J.D.,
Your timing for the DXpedition was perfect. The signals from Japan from
0930-1030 were unusually strong here on the west coast at that time,
including a best-ever signal from 558-JOCR around 1000 UTC. At the time, I was
hoping that someone to the east was tuning in

OK, finally had some time for breakfastHLCA still had audio traces at
1555UT, and, when are the NHK2 transmitters signing off these days? They were
leaving the air at 1440UT in late September, but they were still there at
1520UT this morning.
Anyway, started listening about 1345, and
I am a day late with these loggings like Nick, but wanted to get this reported
as the conditions weren't bad. I added 1500Z to the times sampled but 1435Z was
still by far the best. Not quite as lively as yesterday (the 4th) but China in
again and different stations rising to the top this time
I listened for the first time in two weeks this morning, starting at 1430.
Most of the activity was at the low end of the dial, with virtually no
TPs heard above 1200.
The NHK powerhouses were doing well today, although 774 was a bit hard
to get. Koreans were so-so.
The most interesting
Well done guys! That's quite an accomplishment - hearing three NHK
stations in Alabama.
693 and 747 were in quite well here in Seattle at sunrise. 774 was
doing OK too, but was weaker than the other two and partly buried in
splatter from my local o 770.

On 11/6/2010 4:43 AM,
I wonder. In October, on 1098 I twice heard the Chinese anthem at 1400 and it
seems to be the version heard on CNR8. I don't hear enough CNR11 to know what
their anthem (if any) sounds like. I didn't have a trace of anything else from
the far side of China, so I would be a bit surprised if
I'm impressed. I think the ares of the country where Japan is most difficult
must be the southeast.
Now go get Korea.

All times and dates strictly UT. MW log editors are welcome to excerpt items,

Ignore this. The UPS failed today at the office and all computers went
down. The 10 year old server finally failed, so the replacement was put on
line. Backup was from 4:30am this morning, but somehow an older email was

Hello All,
Against better judgement two TP-chasing sessions were conducted here
this morning, with the first from 0930-1015 during the Asian sunset, and
then from 1300-1510 during the West Coast sunrise. Both sessions had
excellent Asian propagation, even though only the barefoot SWP

After seeing the report from Alabama, my observations may be somewhat

Yes, though the het was much louder around sunset as expected. It dropped
off suddenly as if they signed off, yet it did come back a bit later at a
lower level. Maybe someone else.
