Steve,
I believe the FCC shut down the Vancouver/Portland Russian station this past
summer.
I have not heard the Seattle Russian station in a very long time.

Hello to DXers everywhere --
As I have Monday off from work, I'm going to take advantage of it and pull
an all-nighter at the MW dials. Throughout the night, I'll be checking this
account, so feel free to pass along any tips off list. I'll also be letting
you
know what I'm hearing.

Heard weak carriers (hets) on 531, 702 and 972 kHz this morning. Barely
audible to poor talk from JOUB 774 at 1325-1335 UTC (LSR at 1327). Not much

Hi Dennis,
Coincidentally I was checking for the Seattle Russian station most days and

Is anyone else closer to the transmitter north of Seattle hearing them?

I travel to Everett at least once a month and the last time was Nov. 26th. I
hear the Russian station each time and it was stronger than ever on the 26th.
On the return trip, it could be heard all the way to North Seattle which is a
first for me.

Guy,
Unless there is another somewhere else NE of me in Washington state, I
heard the Russian 1710 Friday or Saturday late afternoon, with the usual
format. So it is still there, or at least one in some area.
Only heard off the NE EWE.

Even though my NE EWE is tiny (15X40X15), it still does well for the
Puget Sound stations. I just tried and the Russian on 1710 is going
strong (weak here tonight), with a woman in RR and RR music.

I'm hearing it too this early evening, 0310 utc, poor/weak, a man speaking,

A better than usual evening for TAs here... many of the usual suspects have

Barry,
I'm working my way through a lifetime of Perseus recordings from November.

Hi Jim -
I can't say I have ever heard Govorit IDs from Mayak. I'd be tempted to think
this was Iran ending their broadcast in Georgian, assuming that Govorit is
used in Georgian just like Russian.
Ahwaz-711 carries VOIRI at times per the WRTH just like 702 so maybe the chimes
are Iranian
Hi Chuck - you nailed it. Iran it is. The chimes fit the VIRI IS on
Interval Signals on Line, not quite the same tone, but definitely the same
notes. On 702 I only hear two tones, but it's a dead-on match with the same
tones on 711 where there are three tones. The third tone seems to have
EMWG and WRTH have conflicting info, and the info in the WRTH conflicts with
itself!
But the chimes are Iran, thanks to Chuck.
