Not like the last two mornings, but still a fair number of stations to be
heard, most things weaker, however, with a bit more Down Under also.

I just heard a WMNI Columbus OH (95.1 & 920 AM) ID on 1520 AM at the top
of the hour in the local ID slot. It sounded so strong that I would
suspect the usual dominant WWKB, but would they really give an ID for
WMNI?

Thanks for the link to Everett's mobius strip loop experiments, Nick! I
wasn't aware he's worked on any antennas buy FSLs.
Interestingly, he's discovered the "PEX AL PEX" tubing that the LZ1AQ loops
frequently use. I thought the tubing was available only in Europe, but
Everett mentions finding a

Hi Larry,
I'd recommend you check out LZ1AQ's web site at https://active-antenna.eu/.
This individual has offered extensive kits and documentation for magnetic
loop antennas which a lot of hobbyists have built. The pricing looks very
reasonable and the quality is high. Some of the varieties are
I've looked for them before, but it sounds like I should check some
recordings from last fall, especially those couple where there was some
audio from high band Aussies here.

Beta testing would be great. Right now what I am actually looing for is a
smaller loop - the 30 inch hula hoop that I have and am working with. I
need some input on the number of turns of wire - size of the wire - etc.
From the loop I want to feed the loop directly to the shack with RG8-X.
KUAU is likely the best chance for Hawaii to be heard in the upper
midwest on a loop or Beverage. It's consistently among the strongest
Hawaiians and the first to fade in during our coastal DXpeditions.

Next in my list of projects (building a dual channel balanced Phaser at the

Larry, I suggest that you keep your eyes open on eBay. Over the years,
I've purchased several Wellbrook products at "bargain" prices, compared to

Thanks for the suggestion but I am trying to "roll" my own. I am on Social
InSecurity and there for on a very strict budget. Now if WellBrook wanted
to donate one to me for testing purposes I would be more than happy to give
it a try :>).

I am trying to come up with a working design for a broad banded (AM BCB)

form. I want to mount this on rotator outside the shack and feed my SDR

Doing fine out here. Our top wind was just 52 and we had less than an inch of
rain. The 7 foot dish is pretty beat up. I've got a backup for when it
finally dies. Will try to reattach some of the elements to the screen with
plastic ties. That should buy me another year. Thanks for asking.

Another "throw in the towel" morning. I agree somewhat with Bruce and Nigel
that it wasn't as good as yesterday, signals were more erratic, yet there was
still a ton of audio, with many channels showing two or more, but weak, and
thrashed by splatter.
