[IRCA] Alberta TPs for 14 February 2017

2017-02-14 Thread Nigel Pimblett
A real mixed bag today, with both DU and Asians. Most of the low
band action here happened well before sunrise, but the upper band, which
was dead earlier on had some life in the half hour prior to sunrise.

594JOAKTokyo, JAPANTraces of audio, then time pips noted at
1000, 1100, and 1200.

693JOABTokyo, JAPANNHK pips, but little else, at 1200.
lesson at 1415.

7743LO	Melbourne, AUSTRALIA Was expecting more NHK pips here, but
instead talk by a man, then ABC news fanfare at 1200.

828 JOBBOsaka, JAPANPoor, with man and woman in Japanese, at 1407.

1098V7ABMajuro, MARSHALL IS Island style vocal at 1047.

11164BC Brisbane, AUSTRALIA Poor, with news by a woman at 1202.

1548	4QD	Emerald, AUSTRALIA	Fair through 1550 splatter with vocal from
the 80's at 1441.

1566HLAZJeju, S.KOREA Fair to good with man in Chinese at
1435.

1701.03	unID	AUSTRALIA Koran recitations noted at 1430 for about 10
minutes.

Several other X-band carriers too, with 1611 and 1629 both close to audio.

[IRCA] TP 14 Feb Victoria version

2017-02-14 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
Not a great morning at first glance, yet with careful looking, an
awful lot of brief audios were found, with a mix of Asia and
DU. Mostly near sunrise, but some earlier, and one later.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

594 JOAK man in Japanese 1509UT, many numbers mentioned, 1509UT,
fairly consistent through 1517UT
1566 HLAZ woman in Chinese 1514UT, still some audio turning up as
late as 1628, but more weakly, man in Korean?

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

567 JOIK woman in Japanese //594 1338UT
774 JOUB man and woman, English lessons 1517UT //747

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

828 JOBB English lessons 1522UT
1287 JOHR man and woman in Japanese 1627UT, not noted earlier

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)

558 soft music 1337UT, HLQH? Little sign on 603 though.
576 2RN man talking //846 1430UT
612 woman talking, DU English inflection 1502UT
702 man talking DU English 1339UT, not parallels
738 man talking, then woman, DU English inflection 1402UT
747 JOIB, man and woman talking //774 1505UT
846 2RN man talking DU English inflection 1520UT, noted //576 1430UT
891 man on phone DU English inflection 1456UT, in just briefly
972 man talking, Korean inflection? 1431UT
1116 man talking, DU English inflection 1417UT
1134 man and woman talking 1506UT, sounded Japanese

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)

693 1242 1332 1386 1422 1467 1593 seemed to be Asian;657
756 855 1098 1548 likely DU

best wishes,

Nick

Believe it or not, it was a new log here near Birmingham too. I’m also grateful

WQXI came in very well last night. I’m surprised how much Korean sounds like
Japanese to my untrained, Western ear. Reminded me of listening to shortwave

[IRCA] Valentines Day TP DX West Coast of Canada

2017-02-14 Thread R. Colin Newell
Things were not that sweet at 1500 hours - but better than nothing.

I have pulled down my FLAGS for the time being until some real DX returns -

Put up a MyAntennas.com 80-10 end fed (140' long) in my backyard between
4 fly points (3 bamboo poles and 1 birch tree!) - It tunes up from 160
through 6
meters effortlessly.

Nick's Fish Barrel led the way for some good audio or solid open carriers on
594, 774 and 828.

Lots of carriers up and down the dial but did not spend more than 2 - 3
minutes on the
radio as shower, breakfast and work called.

Last night 1215 khz (assuming from the UK...) was coming through quite well
on what
is now a pretty omni-directional antenna.

https://youtu.be/ICViiTfL-Xw You Tube Video of an 80 meter check in on BC
Emergency Net last night
https://youtu.be/Gaft9dwO1qc A walk about with the antenna in the back
yard.

Best wishes to everyone on Valentines Day! May the DX be the object of your
desire and never break your heart.

[IRCA] AM BCB DX………. 4 NEW STATIONS

2017-02-14 Thread Robert Ross
Hi Guys:

Here is my report for the last week or so. 4 NEW Stations to report, and some
not so common Relogs.

We are about to have some major Renos done here which means my Radio Shack will
be completely dismantled for a while, so I'm getting this report out early.

I still have over 300 ELAD Recordings on the hard drive to review…so I will be
doing that while the renos are taking place. With any luck, I will find some
decent DX on those recordings to report, until I get everything put back
together here in the shack.

1215, yes, that onehas been putting a fairly steady carrier into
Victoria for the last couple of hours, not developing any further
though.  Have heard other carriers on 909 1098 and 1458, but weaker yet.

best wishes,

Nick
