This prolific Australian pest station was the dominant performer on 693 KHz

for snarling Bangladesh at critical moments, although the latter

received on Aitutaki in the Cook Islands (4,600 miles distant from the west

seconds into the recording. Any ideas on the station identity
I'm very sorry to hear this, Colin. The memories of your close relationship
with your Mom are very touching, and sooner or later we all need to face such a
day. I hope that you and Andrea can find comfort and support from your friends
and family at this difficult time.

Colin, you have my condolences for you and your family at this difficult

Thanks Todd,
KFAQ sounds logical to me if it carries the Coast to Coast program.
Oddly enough almost all the USA signals received in the Cook Islands came from
California, with the exception of 1160-KSL (which blasted in at an S9+++ level
on one night). Since I was DXing in the DU area, maybe

Last September I posted an Excel file of all Coast to Coast AM stations on the
ABDX site. You can use filters to search by frequency. The list has KFAQ and
WWVA on 1170.

Thanks Martin,
Your posting of that information is appreciated. Considering that KFAQ was

Chuck,
As far as chasing Myanmar in the DU area, I think that both 576 and 594 are
pretty much out of play. If the 50 kW Oz big guns don't get you the dwarf Stars
will.

I can hear a "Talking Melbourne" jingle at 6:36, so it's 3AW.

Agree with Bruce and Chuck and there's also a commercial starting at
6:05 for a law firm (Morris and Associates?) with "four locations around
Melbin" at 6:31 plus indistinct dub-dub-dub address just before the jingle.

KFAQ carries "Coast to Coast” at 0500-0900 UTC, and their ID slogan is “Talk

Very good catch.

I've heard Myanmar several times at Grayland with a fair signal, so you'll
eventually hear it when you null the Aussie or Japan.

Wow, thanks very much, Richard!
At 5,642 miles, KFAQ was the farthest DX received from the USA during the Cook

Thanks Bruce, Chuck and Theo,
Your detailed listening and 3AW identity clues are greatly appreciated!
693-3AW was one of three very prolific Oz pest stations which routinely fouled
up exotic frequencies every morning around sunrise in the Cooks. Probably the
