[IRCA] Cubans on 530 kHz

2014-10-20 Thread Brian Rachford
Hi, New here, but have been recently checking out the archives for old and new posts. I'm using a mix of new and old technology; a $10 DVB-T USB dongle with a Ham It Up upconverter to get BCB and SW frequencies, and fed with increasingly large tuned air core wooden loops. My current loopzilla

Hello All,   Once again Dennis and I seem to have gone our separate ways in TP-DXing results, with different second-tier Asians showing up. Whereas Dennis seems to have tracked down quite a few of the second-tier Japanese, here it was 603-HLSA and 1044-CRI that managed fair to good audio. In

2014-10-20 Thread R. Colin Newell
DXer.ca is back - but we do not know for how long - we have no idea who is launching the DDOS attacks or why. The attacks are disrupting our other websites as well as the ISP that we are hosting on -- and they may show us the door if these attacks persist. There is nothing that we can do. DXer.ca

Colin, the maggots that hack web sites and servers normally have no personal interest in whom they are attacking. They do it because they can, the web server environment is not secure or is running insecure code from the hosted sites. There are things the host company can implement to limit the

I can imagine the Cuban stations causing big headaches especially farther east. I tried for some of the higher power Cuban stations that night, but didn't seem to get anything. For me, it's the Mexican stations that can be pests, although I'm reaching a detente in my own mind as I'm able to ID

Brian - Cuban call signs involve some degree of confusion, partly because they are rarely if ever announced. One exception is CMHW, which uses the W slogan (doble-veh). I think this slogan predates the Cuban Revolution. Another difficulty is that there have been sometimes dual call letters for
