Things were fairly intense here for about 15 or 20 minutes before
1400UT, but oddly some of the big guns were better earlier. I'm
sure I missed some stations fading up to audio, but only so much time
to comb through the files during the sunrise boost.

After no Asians yesterday, today was a big improvement. A short,
sharp enhancement from about 1302 to 1307 brought several stations up to
audio level. After that though, the Asians dropped off very quickly.
All the action was on the high band, with the 'big guns' not even
reaching audio

A short but potent sunrise enhancement boost from 1330-1355 raised up both low

the main beneficiaries. During the propagation peak around 1350 t

Today's TP DX was reasonably OK. The low part of the band showed some
life until just after 1300, when the TP's called it a night and went
home. The upper part of the dial, on the other hand, didn't really get
going until the sunrise enhancement at about 1340.

I'm now using Colin's Vactrol with a EWE and it works fine. Just
finished digging a trench across the grass to hide the bell wire (don't
know if same term is used 'over there') to connect the control unit and
resistor.

Yeah, I think you're right Nick about Vactrol and EWE. Also didn't
Wellbrook's K9AY unit use a Vactrol or some of the other commercial ones?

Hi James,
Haven't seen a reply on this, so don't know if you had already
planned the transformer / lamp cord / potentiometer option. (a
version is at http://www.bamlog.com/vartermloop.htm). If so, and
you want to recover from the 5k pot purchase, and have some fixed
resistors in the 1.2 -
Thanks to Richard for his TP-DX report from Oklahoma (and it's great to have
you back!). A short but sharp sunrise enhancement boost from 1330-1350 brought
several low and high band Asians up to respectable levels this morning,
resulting in brief good signals from the Japanese big guns, 603-HLSA
Listened from 1325-1345 UT no audio and only weak carriers on 594, 693, 774,

Being a PL-380 owner, I'm hoping there's an ounce of cure. Is there any idea
why the het appears on 603? And at least to me it's unknown whether there are
hets on other frequencies.
I don't see any spec for the notch bandwidth in the Timewave. The CW filter
bandwidth is specified and h
Good morning fellow DXers. For a few minutes around local sunrise (1231 GMT) I
listened for TP signals. JOUB 774 was heard at 1225 GMT with a poor to barely
audible signal fading out at 1228. No signals heard on 594, 693, 747 or 828
kHz.
Good DX.

The tatami backdrop is very fitting, hi.
That's pretty good DX for mostly barefoot
portables, and from 30 miles south of one of the
world's largest cities. I wonder why the Degen was noisier than the others?
best wishes,
Nick
