Tim,
You mentioned the beacon interference on 252. Have you noticed there are two
beacons that share the same identifier that easily fall within the passband
when listening to Algeria? Best I can deduce, one is MB on 254 from Manistee
airport, and the other the same identifier, MB, on 257,
Greetings all,
171 and 189 are both strong and listenable here in Michigan this evening
252 is down from previous evenings. 198 has an even match going with NDB DIW.
Good DX to all,

Hi Steve,
Many evenings so far this month have yielded decent LWBC conditions here in
Michigan. I've made some decent recordings with the SDR for the archives.
Usually 171 and 183 are the dominant stations here, but so far this year it's
been the BBC on 198 and then Algeria on 252. I've
My first check in a few weeks. I'm hearing 171 Morocco, at around -80 dBm; a
good signal. Nothing else. Heads up Steve out in AZ.

Steve,
Heads up my friend - 171, 183 and 189 all nicely copiable here tonight.
189 Iceland is a rarity here. But tonight it sports a very nice signal.

171 Morocco is weak
252 Algeria strong and easily copied
Tnx for the tip, Steve.

Last night seemed to be pretty good conditions so I set up the SDR to record
overnight. I noted Morocco 171 in Algeria 252 and also very weak BBC on 198.
We'll see what popped in and out through the night, later.
Note to Stan Horzeppa - the standard channel assignment would be 243 khz.
171 good
183 weak
252 vy good
nil other channels
into Michigan.

Steve,
Before the closure of R. France on 162 I picked up an external hard drive and
started making overnight recordings of the Longwave Broadcast segment to build
an archive.
It's been interesting observing how 171 and 252 seem to often alternate in fade
cycles. I'm not saying there's a
252 with a big signal in Ml tonight. 0315 Z

Tried to post last night, but no go. Long-wave nicely audible in Michigan
again tonight: 171, 183, and 252. Last night Iceland was audible also. So
this is a tip to Steve in Arizona to fire up the radio, like we used to when
you were in Oregon. Scott
171 is very copiable in Michigan right now. I also see a carrier on 891. So
heads up, might be some decent TA reception for you guys tonight. Scott

Carriers also visible on 738 and 747 kc. I can see traces of modulation on 738.
I apologize for the random question marks appear in my postings. I have no idea
why they show up. Scott Michigan

162, 171 and 252 all weak but accounting for themselves tonight in Michigan.
Also, carrier visible on 855. And - of all things - I hear LORAN banging away
on 100 kc. Yes I know it was decommissioned. I think there's a station in New
Jersey that's doing some testing. Scott
Carrier visible, strong at signal peaks, on 891, and at times of peak the test
tone on 892 is also visible. Scott Michigan

Beacon has been audible in northern Michigan a couple times over the last week.

About 6 or 7 years ago Steve Ratzlaff and I connected via email and started a
coordinated listening effort for long-wave broadcasters from Europe and Africa.
On evenings when I could hear them in Michigan I would email Steve and in spite
of being on the West Coast, he could often capture them

I realize long-wave propagation does not necessarily equate to medium wave
propagation, but 252 kilohertz is being received relatively well here in
Michigan this evening. I believe this is Algeria. Scott

Congrats on the TA's with your new radio. Last night around 0300 Z, 162, 171,

Michigan, too. It was fun reviewing them today. Scott

Saul,
I installed a PRO-1B about one year ago. I can not compare it to any other
loop, but can compare it to a high end active whip antenna I have. On MW BCB
it almost always outperforms the whip by providing a lower noise signal. By
noise I am referring to local man-made QRM sources. It
