And the best that can be managed on the west coast is a weak carrier on 1215 at 0425UT. Not that unusual this month. But, extremely unusual in practically any other month preceding, since the last solar minimum, so perhaps things are looking up. best wishes, Nick At 02:01 2018-02-26, Richard N. Propagation is not quite as good tonight as the past few. However, 252 Algeria is being heard with poor strength at 0555. Also, there is a barely audible trace of 198 BBC. No other TA signals observed. Richard Allen, near Perry OK USA, R75 & ALA1530LNP. It’s 0440 and I’m hearing 171 Morocco, 183 Germany, 198 BBC, 216 Radio Monte Carlo, 234 Luxembourg and 252 Algeria. There’s a trace of audio on 189. I can hear a very faint carrier detected by USB on171 and 198, 252 sync locking up to S-3 with very weak audio and a het, 216 with a weak choppy carrier detected by USB, 234 a weak carrier detected by USB Absolute Radio is also audible on 1215. 1215 in with bits of music peaking to S-3 855 best in LSB in heavy with unidentifiable woman talking. 567, 783 other not normal carriers noted being heard within the last 30 min to now. Also had carriers all over the dial again tonight. Todd Skaine ICOM 7300 wth a Superloop 2 Modified 2010s barefoot Toyota car radio On Feb 14, 2018 10:49 PM, "Richard N. Re: [IRCA] Oklahoma TA DX 2/14/18 --- not much in Victoria though
Thanks for the update Richard. In Victoria, the best we've managed by 0420UT is carriers on 855 and 1215, with SAHs, so a pair of carriers on each. Possibly that will be the peak strength; we'll have to see. best wishes, Nick At 02:20 2018-02-14, Richard N. Allen wrote: 1215 Absolute Radio is poor-to-fair at 0220 UTC. 1215 had burbles of audio as well along with smashing hets from 531, possibly 2 carriers there, 909, 999 and 1089. I was able to get a lock on 882 but just too much 880 to hear any audio. The other interesting frequency that Nick and Nigel have been focused on is 1575. I did hear 2 carriers there but just not enough oomph to hear a jammer. Re: [IRCA] Oklahoma TA DX 12/6/16
Nick: Nothing here on 1215. Had indications of a signal on 855 (RNE?) during the evening. Only 171, 198 and 252 were heard however. Never had much luck hearing 1215 in recent years, only a few words once on a barefoot SRF-T615. In the 70 & 80's, when on 1214 it was regularly heard, sometime with QRM from Tirana. That was before the KGYN-1210 menace. Domestically the airwaves were much less cluttered then. Richard.
