Yet another rejection.
Dies it take a form in triplicate and subcommittee approval to get a formal
change proposal?
Firesign Theater would have fun with this!
Or perhaps we should stick with the 90's plain text limits

I work along with young adults and they have fun with me when I refer to
any "mailing list" reflectors in which I contribute. I must admit that I
agree with them that this type of platform is near to obsolete when
comparing to Facebook just to name one, which is much more lively,
interactive and handles more than 35 KB per message :)

When is this limitation (relic of DOS / floppy disk / dial-up era) going to be
fixed? Any serious DXpedition report, or even a home log covering more than a
week is going to run into this problem.

I hold little hope for a fix, as IRCA doesn't choose to respond to our requests

Re: [IRCA] Logs - Cape Cod, MA: OCT 2015

2015-11-24 Thread Nicholas Hall-Patch
I believe any member of the IRCA radio club (that sponsors the IRCA list)
is entitled to make any proposal they wish to the IRCA Board, and that
would include proposals concerning how the list functions. If you're a
member of the club, look at the back page of DX Monitor for contact
information.

If someone is not a member, I'm sure the club would be happy to have new
blood.

best wishes,

Nick

Well of course.
But this makes no mention of the existing club's infrastructure to manage

go to Phil. Let him know what you think. The Board of Directors works with the

we, the club's government is democratic. If the members want change,
and don't get it, then they can do something about it. Non-members not so
much.

Now is that a TA carrier I hear?

2015-11-24 Thread Chuck Hutton
Were this an act of Congress or a change of philosophy, I'd agree to have
proposals in triplicate, have a committee review it, follow processes and go
through the rest of the bureaucratic stuff.
It's just a minor update to the list server.
Why can't we just do it?

2015-11-24 Thread R. Colin Newell
I actually manage a LISTSERV like this and it is no more complicated that
logging into the ADMIN interface
and "Upping" the KB limit.

My Listserv is currently set at 100KB which accommodates most large reports.

At some point I will also start work on pitching a new website design for
IRCA at no charge --
and yes, I understand that this LIST is only informally related to the IRCA.

A list such as this could be so much more - this is 2015 after all and the
list could
have the capacity (should have the capacity...) for MP3 attachments, small
videos, text files and photos...)

I simply created an Excel spreadsheet (loosely based on a ham logbook) with
the column headings important to me. I handwrite my entries in and then
every so often, type/them add them into the spreadsheet. This gives me the
ability to easily sort them any way I want to later.

I think the sortable spreadsheet is one of the greatest and
