Bismillah [IslamCity] A POWERFUL STORY

2009-06-03 Thread Zaras Kitchen
A powerful story:
Salah and its Importance of Performing it on Time

  **
*

He remembered his grandmother's warning about praying on time:

'My son, you shouldn't leave prayer to this late time'.

His grandmother's age was 70 but, whenever she heard the Adhan, she got up
like an arrow and performed Salah.

He, however could never win over his ego to get up and pray.

Whatever he did, his Salah was always the last to be offered and he prayed
it quickly to get it in on time.

Thinking of this, he got up and realized that there were only 15 minutes
left before Salat-ul Isha.

He quickly made Wudhu and performed Salat-ul Maghrib.

While making Tasbih, he again remembered his grandmother and was embarrassed
by how he had prayed.

His grandmother prayed with such tranquillity and peace.

He began making Dua and went down to make Sajdah and stayed like that for a
while.

He had been at work all day and was tired, so tired.

He awoke abruptly to the sound of noise and shouting.

He was sweating profusely.

He looked around.

It was very crowded.

Every direction he looked in was filled with people.

Some stood frozen looking around, some were running left and right and some
were on their knees with their heads in their hands just waiting.

Pure fear and apprehension filled him as he realized where he was.

His heart was about to burst.

It was the Day of Judgment..

When he was alive, he had heard many things about the questioning on the Day
of Judgment, but that seemed so long ago.

Could this be something his mind made up?

No, the wait and the fear were so great that he could not have imagined
this.

The interrogation was still going on.

He began moving frantically from people to people to ask if his name had
been called.

No one could answer him.

All of a sudden his name was called and the crowd split into two and made a
passageway for him.

Two angels grabbed his arms and led him forward.

He walked with unknowing eyes through the crowd.

The angels brought him to the center and left him there.

His head was bent down and his whole life was passing in front of his eyes
like a movie.

He opened his eyes but saw only another world.

The people were all helping others.

He saw his father running from one lecture to the other, spending his wealth
in the way of Islam.

His mother invited guests to their house and one table was being set while
the other was being cleared.

He pleaded his case,

'I too was always on this path.

I helped others.

I spread the word of Allah.

I performed my Salah.

I fasted in the month of Ramadhan.

Whatever Allah ordered us to do, I did..

Whatever he ordered us not to do, I did not.'

He began to cry and think about how much he loved Allah.

He knew that whatever he had done in life would be less than what Allah
deserved and his only protector was Allah He was sweating like never
before and was shaking all over.

His eyes were fixed on the scale, waiting for the final decision.

At last, the decision was made.

The two angels with sheets of paper in their hands, turned to the crowd.

His legs felt like they were going to collapse.

He closed his eyes as they began to read the names of those people who were
to enter Jahannam.

His name was read first.

He fell on his knees and yelled that this couldn't be,

'How could I go to Jahannam?

I served others all my life,

I spread the word of Allah to others'.

His eyes had become blurry and he was shaking with sweat.

The two angels took him by the arms.

As his feet dragged, they went through the crowd and advanced toward the
blazing flames of Jahannam.

He was yelling and wondered if there was any person who was going to help
him.

He was yelling of all the good deeds he had done, how he had helped his
father, his fasts, prayers, the Noble Qur'an that he read, he was asking if
none of them would help him.

The Jahannam angels continued to drag him.

They had gotten closer to the Hellfire.

He looked back and these were his last pleas.

Had not Rasulullah [SAW] said,

'How clean would a person be who bathes in a river five times a day, so too
does the Salah performed five times cleanse someone of their sins'?

He began yelling,

'My prayers? My prayers? My prayers.?'

The two angels did not stop, and they came to the edge of the abyss of
Jahannam.

The flames of the fire were burning his face.

He looked back one last time, but his eyes were dry of hope and he had
nothing left in him.

One of the angels pushed him in.

He found himself in the air and falling towards the flames.

He had just fallen five or six feet when a hand grabbed him by the arm and
pulled him back.

He lifted his head and saw an old man with a long white beard.

He wiped some dust off himself and asked him,

'Who are you?'

The old man replied,

'I am your prayers'.

'Why are you so late! I was almost in the Fire!

You rescued me at the last minute before I fell in'.

The old man smiled and shook his head,

'You always performed me at the last

Wikipedia Scanner outs Vatican, CIA

August 17, 2007

a.. New Wiki program tracks and shows edits
b.. CIA made changes to Iran President's entry
c.. CIA claims vital mission to protect US

The CIA has been accused of editing entries on the interactive encyclopedia
Wikipedia.

Wikipedia Scanner, an online tool, allegedly shows that workers on the agency's
computers edited the page of Iran's president, the BBC reported.

It also purportedly shows that the Vatican has edited entries about Sinn Fein
leader Gerry Adams and massaged entries on several Catholic Saints.

It is believed the Vatican removed a link to newspaper stories alleging Mr
Adams's fingerprints and handprints were found on a car used during a double
murder in 1971.

On the profile of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the tool indicates a
worker on the CIA network reportedly added Wahh! before a section on the
leader's plans for his presidency.

Though Wikipedia posted a warning on the profile of the anonymous editor
saying: You have recently vandalized a Wikipedia article, and you are now
being asked to stop this type of behavior, the CIA denied confirming whether
the Internet traffic came from any of the agency computers.

I cannot confirm that the traffic you cite came from agency computers.

I'd like in any case to underscore a far larger and more significant point
that no one should doubt or forget: The CIA has a vital mission in protecting
the United States, and the focus of this agency is there, on that decisive
work, an agency spokesman said.

A user at the US Democratic party headquarters was responsible for editing
American right-wing radio DJ Rush Limbaugh's entry to describe him as a
racist and a bigot, while describing his audience as legally retarded.

Other, more innocuous, changes include tweaks to celebrities such as Oprah
Winfrey.

According to SBS.com, it seems the most widespread changes have been made by
the Diebold company, supplier of the infamous voting machines at the centre of
the storm surrounding the 2000 US presidential elections.

Wikipedia Scanner shows company employees have removed up to 15 paragraphs of
content describing its involvement in the controversial 'hanging chad' votes
that were not counted in the poll.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Part 4: Who are the scholars and from whom should knowledge be taken?

2009-06-03 Thread Albaseerah.Org

*Who are the scholars and from whom should knowledge be taken?*
by *Shaykh Ahmed Muhammed Al-Munayee حفظه الله*

http://www.albaseerah.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1910

   - They are cautious and take their time before passing any type of
religious ruling (fatwa) i.e. they are not hasty. Also, they would prefer
that someone else passes a religious ruling instead of themselves, if there
is another individual. They are also cautious in the area where they have no
knowledge on a particular issue. If at a given moment they do not have at
the forefront of their mind the evidence for a particular issue they will
   refrain from answering.

   - They are concerned about conveying knowledge and passing it on to
others, and also teaching and instructing others in the knowledge that they
   have been given.

   - They are preoccupied with knowledge and putting it into practice.

   - When they deal with knowledge – whether conveying it or acquiring it –
they start with that which is most important and then that which is
important – there is prioritisation. This is done without becoming bored or
tired, although it is something that they do constantly.

   - They have great concern for the knowledge; and for the areas of Tawheed
and the Sunnah – that nothing touches these aspects of our Deen.

   - They are the ones who stand in defence of the Qur’aan, the Sunnah, and
   for the Deen in general.

   - They have humility and fear of Allaah and they depend on Him سبحانه و
تعالى and they adhere to whatever He commands. Narrated by ‘Awf ibn Maalik
al-Asja’ee رضى الله عنه that: *“The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم once
looked at the sky and he صلى الله عليه و سلم said “This seems to be the time
of the raising up of knowledge,” so one of them said: “O Messenger of
Allaah, how is it that knowledge will be raised up and we have the Book of
Allaah and we read it and we study it and we teach it to our children?” The
Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said: “I used to consider you one of the most
knowledgeable people of Ahlul Madinah, didn’t the Jews and Christians have
their book with them?[5] Should I not inform you of the first of the
knowledge to be raised up?” He صلى الله عليه و سلم said: “khushoo and the
fear of Allaah سبحانه و تعالى until you will not see a person having this
type of humbleness in a state of fear in times to come”*.”[6]

   - They put knowledge into practice, so you find the scholar working with
the knowledge that he has from the Qur’aan and the Sunnah, and being
concerned about it. They practice the optional acts of worship, not to
mention the compulsory acts of *eebaadah* (worship). They adhere to all
these acts of worship, and they stay away from those things that are
   disliked and should be shunned.

   - Their knowledge is in the heart and not on the tongue. Knowledge is of
   two types:
  1. Knowledge on the *tongue* – this is the evidence of Allaah سبحانه و
تعالى that is used to convey to the people from the Qur’aan and from the
Sunnah. The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم mentions in the hadith: *“The
Qur’aan is an evidence for or against you.”*[7]

  2. Knowledge found in the *heart* – this is the beneficial knowledge.
Al-Hasan رحمه الله said that *“Knowledge is of two types, knowledge on
the tongue is the evidence of Allaah against the children of
Aadam as comes
in the hadith: “The Qur’aan is an evidence for or against you.” and
knowledge in the heart is the truly beneficial knowledge.”*

   - They do not try to find an easy life which goes against the Deen and
they stay away from innovations and from discussions which have no basis in
the Deen. When Ibn Rajab رحمه اللهdealt with the virtue of knowledge of the
Salaf over the Khalaf, this is one of the things that he pointed out as one
of the characteristics that they (the Scholars) possess.

   - They try to avoid hasty religious rulings or being involved in passing
them. This is an aspect of the Deen which the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم
had much concern for – persons who pass religious rulings without being
properly qualified. One of the reasons that we find the scholars of the past
being very cautious is due to their fear of Allaah سبحانه و تعالى and the
caution that they had in respect of their Deen, and a desire to free
themselves form the responsibility of the fataawa that would be given. For
this reason we find that this was the mannerism of the Sahaabah who were
chosen to be the Companions of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم. They used to
try and pass on the fataawa to someone else, who might be more knowledgeable
in their eyes to pass religious rulings. Sometimes a person would come into
Madinah and he would ask a question, and he would be told to go to someone
else, and that person would say to go to someone else and he would go to

Bismillah [IslamCity] Punish wife-beaters, says court president

2009-06-03 Thread Shahid
Punish wife-beaters, says court president

By Na'eem Tamim Al-Hakeem

RIYADH - Saleh Aaal Al-Sheikh, President of the District Court in Riyadh, has
said that any husband who slaps or beats his wife severely should be punished.

Al-Sheikh, speaking on the issue following remarks by a Saudi judge earlier
this month saying that wives deserved to be slapped by their husbands if they
overspent on clothes, said that Islam has honored human beings by protecting
them from any assault and abuse. Islam has stipulated the penalties for anyone
who commits mistakes.

The husband may discipline the wife if she commits a mistake, but that doesn't
mean slapping her in the face or beating her cruelly, Al-Sheikh told Okaz
newspaper.

Some Ulema (religious scholars) have said that he may only discipline her with
the Siwak stick (a small twig used as a toothbrush), but slapping in the face
is definitely forbidden in all cases, whether the wife is guilty or not,
Al-Sheikh said.

Domestic violence should be punished by the law, even if the wife withdraws
her complaint, he added.

Earlier this month Judge Hamad Al-Razine was quoted as saying that a wife who
is given SR1,200 and spends SR900 of it on an abaya could be slapped.

If her husband slaps her on the face as a reaction to her action, she deserves
that punishment, Al-Razine said.

The judge made the comments, in which he also stated that women were equally
responsible for domestic violence yet escaped blame, at a seminar in Abha for
the National Family Safety Program. - Okaz/SG

Bismillah [IslamCity] ruling: Why women can't have multiple husbands at a time

2009-06-03 Thread Shahid
Question # 10009: Why is it forbidden for a woman to have multiple
husbands at one time?

Question:

Why are women not allowed to have 3 or 4 husbands but men can have 3 or 4
wives?

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

This is connected primarily to faith in Allaah. All religions are agreed that
it is not permissible for a woman to have intercourse with anyone except her
husband. Among these religions are those which are undoubtedly of heavenly
origin, such as Islam and the original versions of Judaism and Christianity.
Belief in Allaah dictates submission to His rulings and laws, for Allaah is
All-Wise and All-Knowing, He knows what is in the best interests of mankind. So
we may understand the wisdom behind the ruling of sharee'ah, or we may not be
able to grasp it.

With regard to the permissibility of multiple spouses for men and its
prohibition for women, there are several issues which are obvious to every
intelligent person. Allaah has made woman like a vessel, but man is not like
that. If a woman becomes pregnant (when she has had intercourse with a number
of men at one time), the father can never be known. People's lines of descent
and lineage will be mixed up, families will be destroyed and children will be
lost. Women will be burdened with so many children that they will be unable to
bring them up and spend on their maintenance. Maybe women would find themselves
forced to sterilize themselves, which would lead to the extinction of the human
race. Moreover it is medically proven now that one of the major causes of the
serious diseases which have become widespread, such as AIDS etc., is women
having intercourse with more than one man, and the mixing of seminal fluids in
the woman's womb causes these lethal diseases. Hence Allaah has prescribed a
waiting period ('iddah) for a woman who has been divorced or whose husband has
died, until enough time has passed for her womb and passages to be cleansed of
any traces of her former husband, and the monthly period also has a role to
play in this matter. Perhaps these brief pointers will dispense with the need
for a lengthy discussion. If the purpose of the question is research for a
university or other assignment, he may refer to the books which have been
written on the topic of plural marriage (polygyny) and the wisdom behind it.
And Allaah is the Source of strength.

blessings of Allah upon him) said, O Messenger of Allah (saw). You give glad
tidings to the men and you do not give tidings to the women. He said, Did
