The people of Paradise will abide therein for ever Question: When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, for how long will they remain there? Will there come a time when they will leave Paradise?. Answer: Praise be to Allaah. When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, they will abide therein forever and never leave it. Similarly the people of Hell will abide therein forever and never leave it. It says in Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa'imah: With regard to Paradise, it is the abode of reward on the Day of Resurrection for those who believed and did righteous deeds. In it there are whatever delights people could desire. In it there is what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, nor has it ever entered the mind of man. Those who enter it will enjoy real pleasures in both a physical and a spiritual sense, and they will live there forever. It will never cease to exist and they will never leave, and their joy will never come to an end, and they will have nothing to disturb their joy. This is according to the definitive texts and the consensus of the scholars and believers. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): The description of the Paradise which the Muttaqoon (the pious) have been promised: Underneath it rivers flow, its provision is eternal and so is its shade; this is the end (final destination) of the Muttaqoon (the pious), and the end (final destination) of the disbelievers is Fire [al-Ra'd 13:35] Truly, the Muttaqoon (the pious) will be amidst Gardens and watersprings (Paradise). (It will be said to them): `Enter therein (Paradise), in peace and security.' And We shall remove from their breasts any deep feeling of bitterness (that they may have). (So they will be like) brothers facing each other on thrones. No sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave it [al-Hijr 15:45-47] This is a Reminder. And verily, for the Muttaqoon (the pious) is a good final return (Paradise), — `Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), whose doors will be opened for them. Therein they will recline; therein they will call for fruits in abundance and drinks; And beside them will be QaasiraatatTarf [chaste females (wives) restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands)], (and) of equal ages. This it is what you (AlMuttaqoon — the pious) are promised for the Day of Reckoning! (It will be said to them)! Verily, this is Our provision which will never finish [Saad 38:49-54] Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except AlMuttaqoon (the pious). (It will be said to the true believers of Islamic Monotheism): My worshippers! No fear shall be on you this Day, nor shall you grieve, (You) who believed in Our Ayaat (proofs, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and were Muslims (i.e. who submit totally to Allaah's Will, and believe in the Oneness of Allaah — Islamic Monotheism). Enter Paradise, you and your wives, in happiness. Trays of gold and cups will be passed round them; (there will be) therein all that innerselves could desire, and all that eyes could delight in and you will abide therein forever. This is the Paradise which you have been made to inherit because of your deeds which you used to do (in the life of the world). Therein for you will be fruits in plenty, of which you will eat (as you desire) [al-Zukhruf 43:67-73] And it is proven in the Sunnah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: A caller will call out _ i.e., to the people of Paradise _ `You will be healthy and never fall sick; you will live and never die; you will stay young and never grow old; you will feel joy and never feel sorrow.' Narrated by Muslim. It was also proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Death will be brought, in the form of a black and white ram, on the Day of Resurrection. Then the command will be given to slaughter it, then it will be said: `O people of Paradise, it is eternal and there is no death! O people of Hell, it is eternal and there is no death!' Narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh. Allaah has confirmed that both Paradise and Hell are eternal and will last forever, and that the believers will abide in Paradise forever and the disbelievers will abide in Hell forever, in many verses of the Qur'aan. And the proven Sunnah from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) provides many details which leave no room for any doubt that this is true, and there is no room for misinterpretation of the clear texts. Whoever doubts this fact or misinterprets the clear texts is following his own whims and desires and displacing words from their right places [cf. al-Nisa' 4:46], so he is one of the kaafirs. Anger Management Anger by itself is not unnatural. However, if one gets angry for reasons other than for the sake of Allaah, it can lead to problems. The Prophet (pbuh) described cures for this "disease" and ways to limit its effects, among which are the following: *(1) ) Seek refuge with Allaah from the Shaytaan: * "And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaytaan (Satan), then seek refuge with Allaah" [al-A'raaf 7:200] Sulayman ibn Sard said: "I was sitting with the Prophet (pbuh), and two men were slandering one another. One of them was red in the face, and the veins on his neck were standing out. The Prophet (pbuh) said, 'I know a word which, if he were to say it, what he feels would go away. If he said "I seek refuge with Allaah from the Shaytaan," what he feels (i.e., his anger) would go away.'" (Bukhaari) *(2) Keep Quite: * The Prophet (pbuh) said: "If any of you becomes angry, let him keep silent." (Ahmad). The angry person may lose self control and utter words of Kufr, curses, the word of divorce (talaaq),etc. So keeping quite would avoid all that. *(3)Make Wudu:* The Prophet (pbuh) said: Anger is from the Shaytaan and the Shaytaan is made from fire. Nothing can put out the fire except water, so when any of you gets angry, he should make Wudu.( Ahmad, Abu Dawood) *(4) Get out of the situation you are in:* The Prophet(pbuh) said: "If any of you becomes angry and he is standing, let him sit down, so his anger will go away; if it does not go away, let him lie down."(Ahmad). Sitting down makes it less likely that he will become overexcited, and lying down makes it even less likely that he will do something crazy or harmful. *(5) Remember the advice of the Prophet (pbuh): * A man said to the Prophet (pbuh), "Advise me." He said, "Do not become angry." The man repeated his request several times, and each time the Prophet (pbuh) told him, "Do not become angry." (Bukhaari) *(6) Remember the rewards of controlling your anger: * The Prophet (pbuh) said, "Do not become angry and Paradise will be yours." (Tabaraani-Saheeh) And he (pbuh) said, "Whoever controls his anger at the time when he has the means to act upon it, Allaah will fill his heart with contentment on the Day of Resurrection."(Tabarani) *(7) Remember the reward for forgiving others:* The Prophet (pbuh) said: "Allaah will not increase a person who forgives others except in honor." (Muslim). *(8) Know the high status and advantages offered to those who control themselves: * The Prophet (pbuh) said: "The strong man is not the one who can overpower others (in restling); rather, the strong man is the one who controls himself when he gets angry." (Ahmad). The greater the anger, the higher the status of the one who controls himself. *(9) Know that resisting anger is one of the signs of righteousness (taqwaa):* One of the characteristics of the ones Allaah loves is that they . "spend (in Allaah's Cause) in prosperity and in adversity, [they] repress anger, and [they] pardon men; verily, Allaah loves al-muhsinoon (the good-doers)." [Aal 'Imraan 3:134] ". . . when they are angry, they forgive." [al-Shooraa 42:47] *(10) Listen to reminders: * A person may get angry, but the true mo'min is the one, when reminded, will remember Allaah and suppress his anger. Ibn 'Abbaas reported that a man said: "O son of al-Khattaab, you are Not giving us much and you are not judging fairly between us." 'Umar was so angry that he was about to attack the man, but al-Hurr ibn Qays, who was one of those present, said: "O Ameer al-Mu'mineen, Allaah said to His Prophet (pbuh) 'Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish' [al-A'raaf 7:199]. This man is one of the foolish." By Allaah, 'Umar could go no further after al-Hurr had recited this aayah to him, and he was a man who was careful to adhere to the Book of Allaah. (Bukhaari). *(11) Remember the bad effects of anger:* Anger leads to regret and the need to apologize. The angry person may go out of control; he could strike out and injure someone, destroy possessions or even kill. He could utter divorce to his wife in a fit of rage and then regret it for the rest of his life. *(12) Du'aa': * One of the du'aa's of the Prophet (pbuh) was: *"O Allaah, by Your knowledge of the Unseen and Your power over Your creation, keep me alive for as long as You know life is good for me, and cause me to die when You know death is good for me. O Allaah, I ask You to make me fear You in secret and in public, and I ask You to make me speak the truth in times of contentment and of anger. I ask You not to let me be extravagant in poverty or in prosperity. I ask You for continuous blessings,and for contentment that does not end. I ask You to let me accept Your decree, and for a good life after death. I ask You for the joy of seeing Your face and for the longing to meet You, without going through diseases and misguiding fitnah (trials). O Allaah, adorn us with the adornment of faith

THE US Army has fallen more than 8 per cent short of its recruitment
goal for the year, army officials said.
They acknowledged a setback for plans to enlarge a force strained by
combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The army is responding in
part by increasing the percentage of prospective recruits with low
scores on aptitude tests who would be eligible for service, officials
said.
It does have an impact, General Richard Cody, the army's vice chief
of staff, said of the recruiting shortfall.
General Cody said the army ended the 2005 fiscal year September 30
with a little more than 73,000 new recruits, well short of its goal of
80,000 new recruits.
He said the shortfall means that the army would not be able to
increase in size to 502,000 as planned, and instead would lag about
492,000 to 493,000.
The increase was supposed to give the army a cushion as it buildt 10
new combat brigades and increased the size of its combat force by at
least 30,000 troops from 315,000.
General Cody said that even with the recruiting shortfall, the army
remained on track to build those new brigades.
But he said it would require moving more solders from the army
bureaucracy into combat units, something that he said needed to be
done anyway.
There are many things to deal with this end-strength issue, he said.
One of them is to rebalance what we have in the institutional army
and continue to move military spaces and faces from that into the
operational army.
Army Secretary Frances Harvey said at a separate press conference that
plans called for moving 40,000 soldiers from slots in the army
bureaucracy or service schools to the operational units by 2007.
On recruiting, the secretary said the army has decided to adopt
Defence Department quality standards that were less demanding than
those followed by the army.
The army required that 67 per cent of its new recruits score in the
top 50 percentile on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery
test, while the Defence Department set a lower 60 per cent level for
the services as a whole.
The truth of the matter is, we opened up the aperture and said,
'Okay, we can declare success as long as we stay above or at what
DoD's goal was', General Cody said, using the acronym for the
Department of Defence.
That's to afford the recruiters out there a wider aperture to go after.
General Cody said the army met its quality goals this year, and he
insisted that maintaining the quality of the force remained a top
priority.
We are not going to lower our standards, he said.
We have a certain percentage that we will not go below for non-high
school diplomas. We closed out the year meeting all the floors we
wanted to meet in terms of quality.

Sept 26, Colombo: The Norwegian government today said that setting up the Peace Secretariat for Muslims (PSM) will create a common Muslim platform for promoting Muslim interests as the Sri Lankan peace process continues.
Issuing a statement, Norwegian Ambassador Hans Brattskar said, We consider the PSM a positive and constructive initiative for creating a common Muslim platform for promoting Muslim interests in the ongoing peace process in Sri Lanka and we are happy to support its important work.
The Norwegian government has granted Rs. 23.9 million in support of the PSM. The Secretariat will facilitate dialogue and build consensus among Muslim political parties and interest groups in order to develop a coordinated position for Muslims on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and in future peace negotiations.
The Peace Secretariat for Muslims will also function as a resource centre and aims to undertake research and develop frameworks for peace building and constitutional questions, as well as contribute to capacity building among Muslim representatives in connection to the peace process.

Sept. 26: The European Union hereby declares its condemnation of the continuing use of violence and terrorism by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The pursuit of political goals by such totally unacceptable methods only serves to damage the LTTE's standing and credibility as a negotiating partner and gravely endangers the Peace Process so much desired by the people of Sri Lanka.
The European Union repeats its condemnation of the shocking murder of Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar and of so many others in Sri Lanka in recent weeks.
The European Union is actively considering the formal Listing of the LTTE as a terrorist organisation. In the meantime, the European Union has agreed that with immediate effect, delegations from the LTTE will no longer be received in any of the EU Member States until further notice.
The European Union has also agreed that each Member State will, where necessary, take additional national measures to check and curb illegal or undesirable activities (including issues of funding and propaganda) of the LTTE, its related organisations and known individual supporters. The European Union furthermore repeats its serious concern at the continuing recruitment and retention of child soldier cadres by the LTTE and reminds them that there can be no excuse whatsoever for this abhorrent practice to continue.
The European Union takes this opportunity to underline the Statement of 19 September by the Co-Chairs of the Tokyo Donor Conference calling on the LTTE not least to take immediate public steps to demonstrate their commitment to the peace process and their willingness to change.
The European Union calls upon all parties in Sri Lanka to show commitment and responsibility towards the peace process during the coming period of elections and to refrain from actions that could endanger a peaceful resolution and political settlement of the conflict.

The United Nations is funding an SLMC-NUA (Sri Lanka Muslim Congress-National Unity Alliance) effort to evolve a common position for the Muslims in the peace process. The Island learns that the UN Development Programme is releasing US$40,000 directly to the Peace Secretariat for Muslims (PSM), established last December under an agreement between SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem and NUA leader Ferial Ashraff.
The UNDP is also releasing US$ 50,000 in support of peace-related projects. This would be done in consultation with the PSM tasked with facilitating a dialogue among Muslim political parties and interested groups.
The PSM received funds from Academics for Education Development under an USAID initiative. An authoritative official said that the PSM was engaged in promoting a consensus among Muslim groups.
Norway has granted Rs 24 million. "We consider the PSM a positive and constructive initiative for creating a common Muslim platform for promoting Muslim interests in the ongoing peace process in Sri Lanka and we are happy to support it," Norwegian Ambassador Hans Brattskar said on Monday.

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem, May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad and his pure family and righteous companions Failing to declare the kufr of the Tawaagheet is calling to the Fire and obstructing revival For Muslims to enter Paradise what is necessary is correct aqeedah founded upon pure tawheed and basing ones thoughts, emotions and actions upon that. Similarly, in order to change the present humiliated situation of the Muslim Ummah into an honourable and victorious situation, a correct analysis of the problem must be made from the roots. Tawheed is the foundation and motivation for Islam and if there are problems in the branches then we must straight away look to our roots to see if the problem lies there, Allah (swt) says, "See you not how Allah sets forth a parable? A goodly word, as a goodly tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches (reach) to the sky. Giving its fruit at all times by the permission of its Lord and Allah sets forth parables for mankind in order that they may remember. And the parable of an evil word is that of an evil tree uprooted from the surface of earth having no stability. Allah will keep firm those who believe with the word that stands firm in this world and in the hereafter and Allah will cause to go astray those who are the zaalimoon." (Ibraheem 14:24-27) The main obstacle in the path of revival for the Muslim Ummah is failing to recognise the most common shirk of our time. Along with the failure to recognise that shirk follow all the problems associated with it. The shirk of groups of oppressors adopting the right of legislating and commanding the people to obey them in these laws in opposition to Allah is the poison that is ruining the trunk and branches of Islam and Muslims. The true scholars are being killed, imprisoned and tortured while the people are referring to those who have sold their deen for the life of this world, we warn these evil scholars of the following hadith: Buraydah reported that Nabi (saw) said "There are three types of qaadis (judges) one who will go to paradise and the other two who will go to Hell. The one who goes to paradise is the one who knows the truth and judges according to it. The man who knows the truth and does not judge accordingly will go to Hell and the man without knowledge who makes judgement for people will go to Hell." (ABU DAWOOD [no.3566] NASAAI, IBN MAAJAH, TIRMIDHI graded Saheeh by AL HAAKIM) And we remind these traitors of the words of Allah (swt), "And among men is he who disputes about Allah, without knowledge or guidance or a Book giving light. Bending and twisting and leading (others) astray from the Path of Allah. For Him there is disgrace in this worldly life and on the Day of Resurrection We shall make him taste the torment of burning." (al Hajj 22:8-9) And we remind the Muslims of the words of Nabi (saw): Abdullah ibn Amru ibn al Ass reported that Nabi (saw) said "Verily, Allah will not destroy knowledge by snatching it away from his slaves but he will destroy knowledge by taking away the lives of the ulemaa' until there will not even remain a single alim, people will then take the illiterate as leaders. They will be questioned and they will give judgement [fataawa] without knowledge. They will go astray and will lead others astray." (BUKHAARI, MUSLIM) Despite the efforts of government scholars to confuse the masses of the Muslims in the pillars of tawheed, it is known from the deen by necessity that it is the right of Allah alone to legislate and decide what is right and wrong and it is Allah who tells people how to live their lives. Indeed this is the whole nature of this life, we are here to worship Allah in belief and actions and this means that we must recognise and believe in the names, attributes, acts and rights of Allah (swt) and then we must direct all obedience to Allah by obeying the laws of Allah alone. "I have not created the Jinn and mankind except for my worship" (adh Dhaariyaat 51:56) So this verse proved that we are only to worship Allah and worship includes obeying the laws of Allah. Similarly we say in our salah, "You alone we worship " (al Faatihah 1:4) This again proves that we must obey Allah alone. There is no doubt that legislating independent from Allah whether one believes in its permissibility or not, is an act of shirk which takes one out of Islam: " The rule is for none but Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him, that is the Straight Deen but most men know not." (Yusuf 12:40) And "And He makes none share in His decision and rule (hukm)" (Al-Kahf 18:26) And "And in whatsoever you differ the Hukm thereof is with Allah " (ash Shoora 42:10) And "And rule between them by that which Allah revealed to you and do not follow their vain desires away from the truth which came to you." (al Maaidah 5:48) And "Or do they have partners with Allah to legislate for them in the deen what Allah does not allow" (ash Shoora 42:21) And

AsSalaam O Alaikum Fasting During Ramadan Islamic legal rules of fasting 11/13/2003 - Religious Education - Article Ref: IC0311-2136Number of comments: 1 By: Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi IslamiCity* - What is Sawm (Fasting)? The Arabic word for fasting is called "sawm" in the Quraan. The word sawm literally means "to abstain". Chapter Maryam of the Quraan says that Mary the mother of Jesus said "I have vowed a "sawm" (fast) for the sake of the Merciful, so today I shall not speak to anyone." [Quraan 19:26]. According to Shariyah, the word sawm means to abstain from all those things that are forbidden during fasting from the break of dawn to the sunset, and to do this with the intention of fasting. Purpose of Fasting In chapter 2 verse 183 the Quraan says, "O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those who were before you, in order that you may learn taqwa (piety)". Taqwa is a very important spiritual and ethical term of the Quraan. It is the sum total of all Islamic spirituality and ethics. It is a quality in a believer's life that keeps him or her aware of God all the time. A person who has taqwa loves to do good and avoid evil for the sake of God. Taqwa is piety, righteousness and consciousness of God. Taqwa requires patience and perseverance. Fasting teaches patience, and with patience one can rise to the high position of taqwa. The Prophet said that fasting is a shield. It protects a person from sin and lustful desires. When the disciples of Jesus asked him how to cast the evil spirits away, he is reported to have said, "But this kind never comes out except by prayer and fasting." (Matthew 17:21). According to Imam Al Ghazali, fasting produces a semblance of divine quality of samadiyyah (freedom from want) in a human being. Imam Ibn Al Qayyim, viewed fasting as a means of releasing the human spirit from the clutches of desire, thus allowing moderation to prevail in the carnal self. Imam Shah Waliullah Dahlawi (d. 1762 C.E.) viewed fasting as a means of weakening the bestial and reinforcing the angelic elements in human beings. Maulana Mawdudi (d. 1979 C.E.) emphasized that fasting for a full month every year trains a person individually, and the Muslim community as a whole, in piety and self restraint. Fasting Is Obligatory In the second year of Hijrah, Muslims were commanded to fast in the month of Ramadan every year as mentioned in the verse above [Al-Baqarah 2:183]. The Quraan further says "The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Quraan, wherein is guidance for humankind and the clear signs of guidance and distinction. Thus whosoever among you witness the month must fast..." [Al-Baqarah 2:184]. Prophet Muhammad (saw) explained this further in a number of his statements reported in the books of Hadith. It is reported by Imam Al-Bukhari and Imam Muslim on the authority of Ibn Umar that the Messenger of God said, "Islam is built upon five pillars: testifying that there is no god except God and that Muhammad (saw) is the Messenger of God, performing Prayer, paying the zakah, making the pilgrimage to the Sacred House (Hajj), and fasting during the month of Ramadan." The entire Muslim world is unanimous in the principal of fasting in the month of Ramadan and considers it obligatory upon every person who is physicaly capable (mukallaf). Rules of Fasting A) Who must fast? Muslims all over the world wait eagerly for Ramadan, as it is a time of increased inner peace and well-being. Fasting in the month of Ramadan is obligatory upon every adult Muslim, male or female, who has reached puberty, is sane and who is not sick or traveling. Sickness could be a temporary sickness from which a person expects to be cured soon. Such a person should not fast during the days of his or her sickness, but he or she must fast later after Ramadan to complete the missed days. Those who are sick with incurable illness and expect no better health are also allowed not to fast but they must pay the fidyah, which is giving a day's meals for each fast missed to a needy person. Instead of food for one day one can also give equivalent amount of money to a needy person. Women in their menses and post-natal bleeding are not allowed to fast, but they must make up the fast later after Ramadan. If pregnant women and mothers who are nursing babies can also postpone their fasting to a later time when they are able to do so. A travel according to the Shariah is any journey that takes you away from your city of residence, a minimum of 48 miles or 80 kilometers. The journey must be for a good cause. One must avoid frivolous travel during Ramadan which causes a person to miss fasting. If possible one should try to change their travel plans during Ramadan to be able to fast and should not travel unless it is necessary. The traveler who misses the fasts of Ramadan must make up those missed days later as soon as possible after Ramadan. B) Fasting According to the Sunnah 1 - Take sahur

As a British Muslim I find myself troubled with the interpretation certain individuals have developed of Islam leading them to justify the murder of innocent civilians (e.g. the London bombings) This is the month where it is reported that the gates to paradise are open, the gates to hell are closed and that the devils are chained (Ahmad, Baihaqi and An-Nasai). The reference to `devils' refers to bad jinns - if only this included the `devils' amongst human beings who have abused and twisted the meaning of faith. When a man killed another man unjustly the Prophet Muhammad, upon whom be peace said to him, `Who will furnish you with security on the day of judgment for killing him?' (Baihaqi). The mind of one which becomes blind or numb to the warnings of taking life on a whim, driven by a passion for change, such a person indeed causes more harm than good, and perhaps in this month of blessings, Allah Almighty will bestow on such individuals sufficient wisdom and understanding such that they may break away and come to the truth which Islam preaches, amen. To this end, Allah the Almighty says The month of Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed, providing guidance for mankind, with clear verses to guide and to distinguish right from wrong...Glorify Allah for His guidance, and that you may be thankful (Quran 2: 185) Zamakhshari was a leading scholar of the 12th century AD. He wrote a number of texts including one on the grammar of the Arabic language. He is however more famed for his Commentary of the Quran. Speaking of the Quranic passage above he writes: `The word Ramadan is the verbal noun (masdar) from 'ramada' (to burn); specifically, this word comes from ramada (glowing ground). The word 'month' was then added and it became a proper name.' He continues, `If one asks why the month of Ramadan was designated as the time of fasting, then I answer: The fast during this month is an old form of worship. The time of fasting was given this name to some extent because one 'becomes inflamed' by the heat of hunger and the suffering of austerity during this month. Likewise, this month has also been designated as natiq (agitated), since it agitates the men, that is, it afflicts then in a burdensome manner because of its severity.' We live our daily lives, our routines, such that we may experience something of hardship, enabling us to ponder. It is said that when a person has nothing but God, it is then that they realise all that they need is God. This act of worship, denying ourselves food, water, relations with our partners etc through the day time, is a means enabling us to increase our spirituality. We do not go to extremes by starving ourselves for days on ends, rather, as with Allah's guidance on life, we strike a balance, fasting for a period which is manageable yet sufficient to give us a flavor of increased spirituality. It was said that for every complex problem there is a simple answer which is almost always wrong. Wherever we find ourselves today witnessing the mindless killing of individuals be it the London bombings, almost everyday in Iraq, or anywhere else for that matter, as individuals we may not be in a position to effect change. We can however extend our hands to our neighbors. Ibn Hajar (the scholar made famous for his commentary on the Sahih of Bukhari) said The word Jar (neighbor) covers both Muslims and non-Muslim, religious and irreligious, friends and enemies, foreigners and fellow countrymen, those who treat you well and those who would do you harm, relatives and strangers, those whose house is nearer to yours and those who are further away.. (Fath Al Bari 10/42). This blessed of month of sharing is a blessed month of compassion. We as individuals should never feel limited or restricted in what influence we have in this world, for each and every one of us has `a neighbor'. The Muslim is the one who does their best to do the right thing, knowing that every effort in the path of doing the right thing is rewarded and aided by Allah Almighty. In fact the Prophet Muhammad said concerning Itikaaf (the act of being in solitude in the mosque, thinking, praying to God Almighty), One who moves to fulfill any need of his brother, and makes effort for it, will find it better than itikaaf of ten years; and one who performs itikaaf for one day for the pleasure of Allah, he will create a distance of three ditches between him and the hell - and each ditch has a width which lies between East and West, or between the heaven and earth. (Al Targib). Let us as individuals set examples of what is right explaining and condemning what is wrong such that perhaps with the Mercy of Allah, we can help our neighbors as well as the confused amongst the Muslims - understand the true meanings of Islam. What better time to do this when the `devils' (bad jinns) are chained up allowing us to address the `devils' amongst

" O Allah! Protect me (from such sicknesses, diseases, etc. that will prevent me from observing the fastfor Ramadan,
and make the month of Ramadhaan clear for me (let not the crescent be obscure in the beginning and end of Ramadhaan for fear that a doubt may arise in the observance and omission of fasting)
and save me from sins in the month of Ramadhaan so that my acts of worship are accepted and not nullified."
