[IslamCity] SAHABA E RASOOL SALALAHO ALAHAY WASALAM - MUHAMMAD IBN MASLAMAH R.A.
MUHAMMAD IBN MASLAMAH R.A. Black, tall and sturdy, Muhammad Ibn Maslamah towered above his contemporaries. He was a giant among the companions of the Prophet, a giant in body and a giant in deeds. Significantly he was called Muhammad even before he became a Muslim. It would seem that his name was itself a pointer to the fact that he was among the first of the Yathribites to become a Muslim and to follow the teachings of the great Prophet. (The name Muhammad was practically unknown at the time but since the Prophet encouraged Muslims to name themselves after him, it has become one of the most widely used names in the world.) Muhammad ibn Maslamah was a halif or an ally of the Aws tribe in Madinah indicating that he himself was not an Arab. He became a Muslim at the hands of Musab ibn Umayr, the first missionary sent out by the Prophet from Makkah to Madinah. He accepted Islam even before men like Usayd ibn Hudayr and Sad ibn Muadh who were influential men in the city. When the Prophet, peace be on him, came to Madinah, he adopted the unique method of strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between the Muhajirin and the Ansar. He paired off each Muhajir with one of the Ansar. This arrangement also helped to relieve the i mmediate needs of the Muhajirin for shelter and food and created an integrated community of believers. The Prophet was a keen observer of character and temperament and was concerned to join in brotherhood persons of similar attitudes and tastes. He joined in brotherhood Muhammad ibn Maslamah and Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah. Like Abu Ubaydah, Muhammad ib n Maslamah was quiet and pensive and had a strong sense of trust and devotion. He was also brave and resolute in action. He was a distinguished horseman who performed feats of heroism and sacrifice in the service of Islam. Muhammad ibn Maslamah took part in all the military engagements of the Prophet except the expedition to Tabuk. On that occasion, he and Ali were put in charge of an army which was left behind to protect Madinah. Later in life, he would often relate scenes of these battles to his ten children. There are many instances in the life of Muhammad ibn Maslamah which showed what a dependable and trustworthy person he was. Before the start of hostilities at the Battle of Uhud, the Prophet and the Muslim force numbering some seven hundred persons spent a night in an open camp. He put fifty men under the command of Muhammad ibn Maslamah and entrusted him with the task of patrolling the camp the whole night. During the battle itself, after the disastrous rout of the Muslims by the Quraysh during which abo ut seventy Muslims lost their lives and many fled in every possible direction, a small band of the faithful bravely defended the Prophet till the tide of battle turned. Muhammad ibn Maslamah was among them. Muhammad ibn Maslamah was quick to respond to the call of action. He once stood listening to the Prophet as he spoke to the Muslims about the designs of some of the Jewish leaders in the region. At the beginning of his stay in Madinah, the Prophet had concluded an agreement with the Jews of the city which said in part: The Jews who attach themselves to our commonwealth shall be protected from all insults and harassment. They shall have equal rights as our own people to our assistance...They shall join the Muslims in defending Madinah against all enemies...They shall no t declare war nor enter in treaty or agreement against the Muslims. Jewish leaders had violated this agreement by encouraging the Quraysh and tribes around Madinah in their designs against the state. They were also bent on creating. discord among the people of Madinah in order to weaken the influence of Islam. After the resounding victory of the Muslims over the Quraysh at the Battle of Badr, one of the three main Jewish groups in Madinah, the Banu Qaynuqa was especially furious and issued a petulant challenge to the Prophet. They said: O Muhammad! You really think that we are like your people (the Quraysh)? Don't be deceived. You confronted a people who have no knowledge of war and you took the chance to rout them. If you were to fight against us you would indeed know that we arc men. They thus spurned their agreement with the Prophet and issued an open challenge to fight. The Qaynuqa however were goldsmiths who dominated the market in Madinah. They were depending on their allies, the Khazraj, to help them in their declared war. The Kh azraj refused. The Prophet placed the Banu Qaynuqa's quarters under a siege which lasted for fifteen nights. The fainthearted Qaynuqa finally decided to surrender and ask the Prophet for a free passage out of Madinah. The Prophet allowed them to leave and the tribe - men, women and children - left unharmed. They had to leave behind them their arms and their goldsmith's equipment. They settled down at Adhraat in Syria. The departure of the Qaynuqa did not end Jewish feelings of animosity towards the Prophet

[IslamCity] WHATS THE SURPRISE IN PALESTINE? Don't Punish the Palestinians
salam alaikum, Here are two very well written article about the recent hamas victory and the reality of the Palestine situation.Fee Amanillah MaqsudWHATS THE SURPRISE IN PALESTINE?Graham E. Fuller La Vanguardia- Barcelona 29 January 2006http://www.lavanguardia.es/web/20060129/51228977945.htmlWhats the surprise in the victory of the Palestinian movement Hamas in the Palestinian elections this week? To those who follow the Middle East closely, the Hamas victory is part of a broad pattern we see all over the Muslim world: Islamists (moderate and radical) are the dominant political force. They have few rivals-- not even nationalists or leftists-- in most countries.Islamists flourish where there is no democracy--where people have no voice over their own fates, their own regime, and the actions of distant powers. In the elections in Egypt last month President Mubarak, under pressure, made a small opening in the electoral system and the Muslim Brotherhood immediately made great gains. If the elections in Egypt had been truly open, the Muslim Brotherhood would probably have won a majority in Egypt as well.Washington and most of the Europeans still dont understand the political and social dynamic in Palestine. The number one force that dominates the daily life and entire psychology of the Palestinians is 39 years of Israeli occupation almost two generations. Palestinians are bitter and angry. They support Hamas because Hamas has not been corrupt, it speaks in the name of Islam and Palestinian nationalism, conducts major social programs, and it has been willing to undertake armed struggle against the Israeli state that occupies them. It has fought a guerrilla warfare, attacking occupying Israeli security forces. It has also employed terrorism against Israeli civilians with the claim that it is responding to the indiscriminate use of Israeli force against Palestinian civilians that has also killed thousands of women and children. This is not to justify Hamas policies, but to make it clear why they have turned even to terrorism on occasion in order to resist the occupation and why most impotent Palestinians see that as justified. If Washington and the Europeans insist that first there must be peace and calm in the area before peace negotiations can move forward, then peace will never come. If we seek to untie the complex knot of fifty years of Palestinian-Israeli confrontation we must begin at the source of the problem: the occupation itself. To insist on law and order first is to deliberately choose not to deal with the root cause of the problem. So the situation in Palestine today should come as no surprise. Those who are surprised are those who do not understand the problem. Is Hamas happy? Hamas is obviously delighted with the demonstration of its power and support in Palestine; it is no longer possible for the world to ignore it. But Hamas is probably not delighted with now having responsibility for the all the problems of Palestine, domestic and international. Rather than being a very, very bad step for peace as Italian Premier Berlusconi said yesterday, however, this victory possibly could be a very, very positive step forward. I do not wish to be simple-minded or nave about the problems ahead. But if Islamist movements wish to maintain their powerful base of social support in the Muslim world, they are going to have to deliver what the people want. It is a luxury for them to remain out of power where they can freely criticize but not take responsibility for policies. Hamas now faces major political problems in just making the infrastructure of Palestine to work. We can expect that Hamas will want to share the burdens of power broadly across the whole spectrum of Palestinian society. It will now have to examine the effectiveness of engaging in guerrilla or even terrorist attacks. My guess is that Hamas will refrain from such actions as it explores the possibility of political progress. But if Hamas comes to believe that diplomacy and negotiations are not working, if it believes that Israel is not serious about giving up almost all of the West Bank, then it will probably resign from power and return to the armed struggle. It obviously cannot do both simultaneously. The problem is that neither the Likud party, nor the warrior Sharon, had any intention of really giving the Palestinians a united, functional and sovereign state in the West Bank. They wanted to maintain dominant Israeli control with lots of settlements. That is why we have no peace today, not because of terrorism. Terrorism is the result of unending occupation.Hamas will now speak with a powerful political voice that has powerful popular backing among Palestinians. Israel now faces a major challenge: will it become serious about permitting a viable Palestinian state to emerge, or will it continue delaying tactics the key strategy of Sharonas Israel continues to create new facts on the ground?

[IslamCity] Custodian of Israel Asks Palestinians to Return $50 Million in Aid
The Unbelievers are protectors, one of another: Unless ye do this, (protect each other), there would be tumult and oppression on earth, and great mischief. (Al-Qur'an, 8:73 - Al-Anfal [Spoils of War, Booty]) US Asks Palestinians to Return $50 Million in AidBarbara Ferguson, Arab News http://www.arabnews.com/?page=4section=0article=78034d=19m=2y=2006WASHINGTON, 19 February 2006 The United States has asked the Palestinian Authority to return $50 million in US aid because Washington does not want Hamas government to have the funds, the State Department said Friday.US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who visits the region next week, will ask Arab allies to demand that an incoming Hamas government abandon terrorism and accept Israel, she said Friday. The US wants the Palestinian authority to return $50 million in direct assistance provided in 2005 for new infrastructure projects in Gaza. A Palestinian official confirmed Washington had asked for $50 million in aid to be returned. The Palestinian Authority promised to comply, the official said.Over the past decade, the United States has given about $1.5 billion in aid to the Palestinians, mostly through aid groups. Rice plans to visit Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates next week to discuss, among other issues, how to deal with Hamas and to convince those nations not to fill any funding gap. Also Friday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas gave his inauguration speech during the first meeting of the parliament after the Jan. 25 elections assigned Hamas to form the government. After representatives took oath, Abbas sent messages to both Israel and Hamas, asking both sides to continue negotiations, The US-backed Road Map should be a guide for peace talks, Abbas said. Hamas rejected the call by Abbas to negotiate with Israel yesterday. Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the group will not talk with Israel since the occupation still exists, adding that the armed resistance is the legal right of the Palestinian people.Hamas was responding to Israels declaration on Friday that it will impose sanctions immediately against the Hamas-controlled Authority, including barring Gaza Palestinians from working in Israel.Unilateral steps by Israel will lead to more deterioration and further distance peace and settlement, Abbas said in his speech and argued that the electoral choice of Hamas shouldnt be an excuse or justification for more aggression or a blackmailing of our people. Although Israel evacuated the Gaza Strip last September, it still retains control over most of the West Bank and collects about $53 million a month in taxes for the Authority. Israel makes the money from the fees it charges the Gaza and West Bank for water, electricity and sea and air links. Cuts in funding would worsen the dire financial straits faced by the Palestinian Authority, which gets about $1 billion yearly in foreign aid from various sources, a sum that is equal to nearly half its budget. For several months, the Palestinian government has been unable to meet its $116-million monthly payroll. But shutting off US aid is more complicated than just turning off a faucet, and has some limitations as a carrot or stick of American policy. One reason is that most US assistance never goes directly to the Palestinian Authority.Direct aid to the Palestinian Authority was barred by US law in 1997 to safeguard against it being diverted by corrupt leaders. Instead, with rare exceptions, American aid is provided indirectly through contractors and nonprofit groups that carry out a variety of projects, from building sewers and roads to mentoring Palestinian youths and fostering democratic institutions.AB [EMAIL PROTECTED] "For to us will be their return; then it will be for us to call them to account." In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Inews Daily Wednesday 1stMarch 2006 - 30th Muharram 1427 Iraq erupts into fresh violenceA series of attacks targeting Iraq's Shia majority have killed 64 people and wounded 180 as fears grow that a new wave of sectarian violence may be unleashed across the country. In one of the biggest attacks, a car bomb exploded on Tuesday evening outside a Shia mosque in Baghdad's northeastern al-Hurriya neighbourhood, killing 21 people and injuring 43 according to a local security official. The explosion came soon after three bombs went off in quick succession in Shia areas of the capital, leaving 30 people dead and 130 wounded. Syria flays Israel for 'nuclear dumping'Syria has accused Israel of using the Golan Heights as a dumping ground for nuclear waste. Bashar Ja'afari, the Syrian Ambassador, told the 65-nation Conference on Disarmament that all Arab states were committed to creating a zone in the Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction. "However, Israel, which has unambiguous support from major nuclear weapon states, continues to reject the will of the international community and dumps its nuclear waste in the Syrian Golan Heights," said Ja'afari, the first speaker in Tuesday's session. Israel has controlled the Golan Heights since the 1967 Middle East War. Documents link Saddam to massacreThe chief prosecutor in Saddam Hussein's trial read out documents in court on Tuesday which he said established that the former Iraqi leader signed a death warrant for 148 people. The document, dated 14 June 1984, was signed by Awad al-Bandar, chief of the Revolutionary Court and his co-accused, and approved by the former president. Saddam and seven others are charged with crimes against humanity in connection with the execution of 148 villagers from Dujail after an assassination attempt on him there in 1982. Meanwhile, Saddam's trial was again thrown into disarray when his top defence lawyers walked out after their pleas for an adjournment and the removal of the judge were rejected. Police say al-Qaida helped fund suicide bombings in IndonesiaOsama bin Ladens 'terror network' helped fund all of the suicide bombings in Indonesia in the past four years, a senior police official said yesterday, highlighting links between al-Qaida and the regional militant group Jama'ah Islamiyah. Money for the attacks, which have occurred annually in the worlds most populous Muslim country since 2002, was delivered by courier to leaders of Jama'ah Islamiyah according to Indonesias counterterrorism taskforce. Indonesia is the only Southeast Asian nation known to have been hit by suicide bombers. "After having overcome fascism, Nazism, and Stalinism, the world now faces a new global threat: Islamism," they wrote. US settling suit by Egyptian held after Sept 11The US government has agreed to pay $300,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by an Egyptian who was among dozens of Muslims detained after the Sept. 11 attacks, held for months and then deported. The settlement is the first the government has made in a number of suits saying that non-citizens were abused and their constitutional rights violated after the attacks. The Egyptian, Ehab Elmaghraby, used to run a restaurant in Manhattan. He was one of two plaintiffs in the suit. The other, a Pakistani, is still pursuing the suit. Sudan leaders face UN sanctions The UN intends to impose targeted sanctions on up to 10 members of Sudan's government and others involved in the Darfur crisis, after claims of increased killings in recent months and access being denied to aid camps. A security council resolution, sponsored by Britain, will recommend a travel ban, a freeze on overseas accounts and other assets, and, possibly, the issuing of warrants by the International Criminal Court, which deals with crimes against humanity. The UN drew up a confidential list last year of dozens of Sudanese leaders it claims are responsible for deaths and displacement, as well as leaders of the government-backed militia and two rebel movements. [IslamCity] Who Are the 'Terrorists'?
http://www.lewrockwell.com/rothbard/rothbard110.html Who Are the Terrorists? by Murray N. Rothbard First published in the Libertarian Party News, March/April 1986. Terrorism has been made The Issue of the Year, for which Americans are expected to tighten their belts, pay countless billions in taxes so the U.S. government and its allies can arm to the teeth, and suffer an escalating repression of their liberties. Yet who the terrorists are supposed to be remains vague and shadowy. Their only apparent common characteristic is that they are swarthy and foreign; no Nordics need apply. The top villains seem to appear and disappear kaleidoscopically. A few years ago it was Colonel Khadafy; remember the sinister, swarthy, and bearded Libyan hit men supposedly sent to the U.S. to assassinate President Reagan? For that alleged act a partial embargo was imposed on Libyan trade. Yet, the hit men seemed to have vanished into the night, never to be heard from again. After Khadafy had his day in the sun, the Bulgarian equivalent of the KGB had its time at the top, supposedly having engineered Mehmet Ali Agcas attempt to assassinate Pope John Paul II. The Bulgarian connection, so highly touted by conservatives and neo-conservatives in this country, seems to have blown itself away on the sea of lies, contradictions, and lunacies in Agcas testimony. The only sure quantity in Agca and his proven colleagues is that they are right-wing Turks, hardly fitting candidates for the current White House-U.S. Establishment hit list. After the fading away of the Bulgarian evil empire, the Lebanese Shiites and their alleged mastermind, the Ayatollah Khomeini, had a long run as Top Terrorist of the Month. The U.S. Navy had their turn at shelling and destroying Shiite villages in Lebanon, but the Shiites proved a hardy bunch, and the idea of bombing the alleged Shiite training camp headquarters in the Bekaa Valley foundered in the realization that Syria was there, with anti-aircraft rockets, and with Russia and World War III looming in the background. Then, suddenly, presto chango, and the dread Shiites seem to have disappeared as the top terrorists, to be replaced by none other than Colonel Khadafy, back from his long rest. The chain of evidence linking the Colonel to the recent airport bombings is even flimsier than the hysteria over the Khomeini and Bulgaria, and ranks up there with the disappearing Libyan hit men. The airport bombings look like the work of Abu Nidal, head of the militant Palestinian Fatah Revolutionary Council. That takes care of that, even though no one is really sure that Nidal is still alive. Having established the Nidal responsibility to its satisfaction, the U.S. government then tries to link Khadafy to Nidal. The claims of the White House and the CIA that they have secret evidence should be met with the same contempt as the alleged secret knowledge the CIA was supposed to have had on Vietnam. No person or group should be convicted on secret knowledge. Even the U.S. admits that its evidence against Khadafy wouldnt stand up in court. But a basic tenet of both libertarian and Anglo-Saxon law is that everyone must be considered innocent until proven guilty; otherwise, retaliation or punishment would itself be open criminal aggression, in fact would be terrorism. Why doesnt such a standard apply also to Arabs, even if foreign, swarthy, and sometimes even bearded? In truth, Khadafy is not even charged directly with masterminding or even financing Nidal or other terrorists. He is charged with allowing Nidal to have bases on Libyan territory, with harboring terrorists. An interesting charge. (Although even here, there is some evidence that the airport terrorists came from bases in Lebanon, not Libya. But who cares, right, so long as we kill some Arabs, any Arabs?) What does it mean? In New York and other cities of the United States, hundreds of innocent men, women, and children are terrorized every day, in crimes called mugging. Should the United States government carpet-bomb New York City, destroying it for harboring terrorists, and for allowing them to use the city as a base? But, you might say, that would mean murdering masses of innocents? Sure, so why then is it OK for the United States government to shell Shiite villages, murdering the innocent, or for Israel to bomb Tunisia, killing 61 innocents, or for the United States to bomb Libya? The U.S. and Israel say that they deplore having to kill innocents, but since they feel that they must retaliate, and they cant pinpoint the actual terrorists in fact, they dont know where the terrorists are or even who they are therefore, they must do something, and killing the innocent becomes a regrettable necessity. But how does such an argument differ from the U.S. government carpet-bombing New York City (We must retaliate, and it is regrettable that we have to kill thousands, but we cant pinpoint the SOBs). Or, for that matter, how does it

[IslamCity] Fw: situation in Indian Gujrat- Asghar Ali Engineer-
- Original Message - From: CSSS To: Undisclosed-Recipient:; Sent: Thursday, March 02, 2006 12:26 PM Subject: Secular Perspective THEY HATE US, WE FEAR THEM THE SITUATION IN GUJARAT Asghar Ali Engineer ( From Secular Perspective March 1-15, 2006) The situation in Gujarat is afar from normal even more than three years after carnage of 2002. The situation, particularly in rural areas is as Harsh Mandar, former IAS officer and prominent activist for communal harmony in Gujarat put it they (i.e. Hindus) hate us and we (i.e. Muslims) fear them. As any psychologist will know hate and fear are not normal human situations. Hindus, particularly, those of Sangh Parivar, hate Muslims and Muslims, particularly those who suffered in 2002 carnage, fear the Hindus. The Gujarat carnage was unprecedented in the history of communal riots in independent India. Never such communal violence took place with so much active collaboration of the state. There never was so much hate campaign against minorities in the history of Independent India as in Gujarat. There is no let up in the hate propaganda even now. The prophet of hate Pravin Togadia is spearheading this campaign. Generally the guilty of communal violence are not punished but the Gujarat Government has broken all records in this respect also. They closed down all the cases; soon after the carnage saying no evidence is available. It was only after the intervention of the Supreme Court that these cases were reopened, more than 2000 of them. The police are generally partial but in Gujarat it acted almost like a Hindutva force. It openly took part in killing and looting though there were some honest and committed officers who were rendered ineffective by transferring them to administrative posts or to those areas where there was no rioting. All this is history now. The present situation is no less worrisome. Harsh Mandar and some of us sat together to evolve a strategy for effective intervention. More than 50% refugees are still unable to return to their villages. Many of these refugees are rotting in ghettoes created after the carnage. They want to return to their villages but are afraid to go back. They are threatened or blackmailed to withdraw the cases. There are heart- rending stories. Those who have returned live in fear and total isolation. No one talks to them, no one invites them, no one even looks at them. So scorned they find it difficult to live there. Villages are small units of population and quite interdependent. In big cities one can live in such situation but not in small villages. These victims say we can live even with economic boycott but not when everyone hates us or neglects us. All this is due to hate campaign going on by VHP and Bajrang Dal cadres. Other political parties just do not exist including the Congress. Even if it does, it dare not speak up. There is no effective intervention by social activists. The NGOs are as much polluted by communal poison. They either hate Muslims or are totally indifferent to their fate. Harsh Mandar wants to develop some module of active intervention to bring Muslims into village mainstream again. The Congress at the Centre is not bothered. The Congress workers at the state level are more in sympathy to the BJP than to minorities. Some NGOs working in cities like Ahmedabad may have sympathy for Muslims but not those working in rural areas. We put our heads together and try to evolve some ways to effectively intervene to bring about some interaction between Hindus and Muslims. The Hindus are not real obstacle in general, but militant Hindu organisations. They have acquired high stake in hate politics. They collect money in the name of protecting and promoting Hinduism (read Hindutva). They bring money for welfare of Dalits and tribals and use it for hate campaign among them and for Hinduising dalits and tribals. Thus these weaker sections of Hindu society also have become part of Hndutva campaign. These dalits and tribals, even when not in agreement with Hindutva campaign cannot speak out as they also have to live in the same village. They cannot afford to earn hostility of upper caste Hindus. Thus Muslims are totally isolated. Harsh Mandar tells us that Mrs. Malika Sarabhai has agreed to develop a cultural package for rural areas. She will give cultural performances with message of peace and harmony, with no overt propaganda. Malika Sarabhai had taken very bold stand against Narendra Modi and Narendra Modi left no stone unturned to harass her. But she stood up courageously. This will be followed up by screening the Film Gandhi to further consolidate the message of peace and non-violence. This could be followed by inter-community dialogue after carefully selecting villages, which are more prone to the message of peace. It is undoubtedly a slow process but there is no short -cuts in such matters. Hate and suspicion

Let such a person perish and relapse, and if he is pierced with a thorn, let him not find anyone to take it out for him. Paradise is for him who holds the reins of his horse to strive in Allah's cause, with his hair unkempt and feet covered with dust: if he is appointed in the vanguard, he is perfectly satisfied with his post of guarding, and if he is appointed in the rearward, he accepts his post with satisfaction; (he is so simple and unambiguous that) if he asks for permission he is not permitted, and if he intercedes, his intercession is not accepted."Allah knows best. [IslamCity] Re: Hamas
Omar Bhai, ASA Jazakallah for updating me over the existing precarious situationof Palestine and its people. These are known facts of Muslim Ummah prevailing everywhere. What I meant to say through my article:"For Hamas - The Surest Way to Success" was this: 1. Muslim Ummah got again a chance to show their worth to the world on the lines Pakistan got. They should not fail and let it goas Pakistan did. Allah has given this chance to Hamas through Elections as was the casewith Muslim League in India in the elections ofMarch 1946 that culminated into the creation Pakistan. 2. They have to grow themselves independent of Israel and stand on their own legs with whatever meager resources their "scratch-government" can afford within their bounds and get from Muslims around the world. 3. Muslim Ummah must come to their support, morally and financially as the call of their Iman. If they remain silent spectators, they will all be responsible to Allah for the failure of Hamas. 4. Meanwhile, they should reconstruct the character and behavior of their people afresh. That will take care of the shortcomings that youand othershave pinpointed about Palestinian life pattern. 5. In this process, they will have tokeep themselves quite, subdued and are not agitated at allinstead of provocations from Israel and other adversaries. They will have to be nice to their neighbors anddie-hard enemies, come what may happen. 6. This is the road of hardship, hunger, sufferings and evenfacing"let-them-down-and die" attitude of the "Trio"but they will have to work along with it only for Allah's sake and then He will pave their way to safety and security, strength, successand recognition of their changedMuslim behaviorby their "enemies" 7. I know you and many others will not listen to this way of thinking. But Hamas has no alterative except behaving like good Muslims, bear the onslaughts and continue their constructive work with Sabr and Hikmah and one day their enemies, Insha Allah, will become their "friends." This is the way Allah ordains Muslim to go, actand behave on this earth and Hamas has to follow it, if it wants to attain success in both the worlds. 8. Yours and ourjob is to convince the Hamas people to follow this line of actions if they are sincere to their conviction as a benevolent political entitythat they stand for the good of humanity. It is the test of theirIman and Allah's help will come only if they stand by it. That is why I call: it would be the miracle of twenty first century. I know you will not agree with it as you are practically "lost" or carried awaywith the glammar of the Western press and theirlopsided prejudiced reporting. In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Inews Daily Thursday 2ndMarch 2006 -1stSafar 1427 Saddam admits ordering 'trials' of ShiasFormer Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein has admitted that he ordered the trial of those suspected of involvement in an assassination attempt on him in the town of Dujail. Saying that he had also ordered the confiscation of their lands, Saddam yesterday told the court that doing so was not a crime (sic). The prosecution said the move was a reprisal by the then Iraqi leader, following the 8th July, 1982 attempt to assassinate him in the town of Dujail. Saddam and seven co-defendants are on trial for the torture, illegal imprisonment and executions of 148 Shias, as well as the arrest and torture of others and the confiscation and razing of their farmlands. Iran president wants nuclear support from MalaysiaIranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad arrived in Malaysia on yesterday, taking his international campaign to win support for his countrys nuclear programme to an influential Muslim nation with strong US ties. Malaysia chairs both the worlds largest grouping of Muslim nations, the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, and the Non-Aligned Movement, and has given Iran moral support for Tehran's peaceful nuclear programme. Iran has been reported to the UN Security Council, which has the power to impose sanctions, after failing to convince the West its nuclear ambitions are entirely peaceful. 30 killed as violence continues in Iraq Bombings in Baghdad killed 26 people, and four others died when mortar rounds slammed into their homes in a nearby town yesterday, the second day of surging violence after authorities lifted a curfew. Wednesday's most serious attack - a car bomb near a traffic police office in a primarily Shiite neighborhood in southeast Baghdad - killed at least 23 people and wounded 58. About an hour earlier, a bomb hidden under a car detonated as a police patrol passed near downtown Tahrir Square; three civilians died and 15 were wounded. North of Baghdad, gunmen ambushed a police convoy carrying 50 officers, killing two passengers and abducting 10, police said. Four officers were seriously wounded. Jordan inmates release hostages Jordanian prisoners loyal to al-Qaida have released six policemen and a prison chief. The hostage-taking took place after Jordanian troops clashed with prisoners in three major prisons when they went in to move high-security detainees. The policemen were freed after inmates were promised they would not be punished for the hostage-taking. The fighting, which involved 150 inmates, was the most serious in Jordan in recent years. Last year there were several strikes by high-security detainees protesting against poor prison conditions and ill treatment. Jordan denies there are systematic violations of prisoners' rights in its jails. Mubarak warns US not to attack Iran Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak strongly advised the United States not to attack Iran, warning that military action would create more terrorists in neighboring Iraq, according to comments published yesterday. Mubarak also told Egyptian newspaper editors he warned Vice President Dick Cheney that ground troops ``will have a hard time'' in such a conflict. He said Shiite Muslims in the Gulf region also could turn against the United States because ``Iran generously provides for Shiites in every country and these people are ready to do anything if Iran is attacked.'' Zionists kill Islamic Jihad leader Islamic Jihad's top military commander in Gaza was killed yesterday in a car blast that rocked a busy street in Gaza City, knocking out electricity and wounding two other people. The Zionist military, which carries out pinpointed attacks against freedom-fighters in the coastal strip, claimed it was not involved in the death of Khaled Dahdouh. But Islamic Jihad accused Israel of killing Dahdouh in an airstrike and vowed revenge for his death. Islamic Jihad has been the target of recent Israeli attacks. Islamic Jihad has rejected Hamas' offer to join a Palestinian government. Yemeni prisoner refuses Gitmo Hearing A Yemeni prisoner at Guantanamo Bay accused of serving as a bodyguard for Osama bin Laden refused to participate in military proceedings against him yesterday, insisting that he would not receive a fair trial. Ali Hamza Ahmad Sulayman al Bahlul, who had said he was boycotting the tribunal, attended most of the day's hearing. But after an afternoon recess al Bahlul apparently refused to return. The presiding military officer said he wasn't certain how to proceed. Al Bahlul repeatedly said, ``I had no direct relationship with the events of Sept. 11.'' He is one of about 490 prisoners at Guantanamo, charged with conspiracy to attack civilian targets and conspiracy to commit murder. [IslamCity] EVER WONDER WHY?
EVER WONDER WHY? Why a Jew can grow his beard in order to practice his faith But when Muslim does the same, he is an extremist and terrorist! Why a nun can be covered from head to toe in order to devote herself to God But when Muslimah does the same she oppressed When a western woman stays at home to look after her house and kids she is respected because of sacrificing herself and doing well for the household? But when a Muslim woman does so by her will, they say, "she needs to be liberated"! Any girl can go to university wearing what she wills and have her rights and freedom? But when Muslimah wears a Hijab they prevent her from entering her university! When a child dedicates himself to a subject he has potential. But when he dedicates himself to Islam he is hopeless! When a Christian or a Jew kills someone religion is not mentioned, but when Muslim is charged with a crime, it is Islam that goes to trial! When someone sacrfices himself to keep others alive, he is noble and all respect him. But when a Palestinian does that to save his son from being killed, his brother's arm being broken, his mother being raped, his home being destroyed, and his mosque being violated -- He gets the title of a terrorist! Why? Because he is a Muslim! When there is a trouble we accept any solution? If the solution lies in Islam, we refuse to take a look at it. When someone drives a perfect car in a bad way no one blames the car. But when any Muslim makes a mistake or treats people in a bad manner - people say "Islam is the reason"! Without looking to the tradition of Islam, people believe what the newspapers say. But question what the Quran says! === Yahoo! [IslamCity] PRACTICE MEDITATION - Part 1
PracticeMeditation - Part 1 (Only for mature readers)Meditation means different things to different people. In its basic form, meditation means sitting quietly, doing nothing, and being empty of all thought. It is a practice that relaxes and stills the mind of the endless chatter and clutter of our multitudinous thoughts. Meditation is a vehicle that allows us to contact our deepest spiritual core or center, which is the essence of our being. There are different variations of how meditation is done, but the essence is the same. Traditional methods of meditation have rules and methods. Whereas the modern schools promote an open-ended style of meditation. The form may vary, but the ultimate goal remains the same. The objective is to attempt to tap into the Divine Reality and draw strength from it. Yoga, transcendental meditation, Hindu jaap, Buddhist mantra or the Sufi word are some of the different schools of meditation. The key to inner peace and happiness lies within us Meditation takes us on a journey inside ourselves to seek a connection with the Divine essence. This practice, if sufficiently strong and dedicated, has the potential to bring about spiritual enlightenment, which arises when we understand the deeper mystery and meaning of life. The road to enlightenment has many levels and stages, and involves stripping away layers of illusion and delusion to get to the underlying spiritual truth the heart of Divine realization. The key to happiness and inner peace is inside us and not outside. Meditation helps us find that key. Nasruddin, a mystic, spoke of a man who had lost his keys and was looking for them in the street. A friend joined him in looking for the keys, but they were unsuccessful. The friend then asked the man exactly where he had lost his keys, to which the man replied that he had lost them at home. When asked why he was looking for the keys out in the street, his simple reply was that there was more light in the street. The symbolic meaning here is that we are looking for the key to the spirit in bright places, but not the right place, which is within us. Meditation connects us to this place of illumination inside ourselves, even if it means going into some dark places along the way. When we meditate in absolute humility, we progress on the spiritual journey. When a saint, through her devout meditation, reached the highest state of enlightenment, a voice asked, Who are ? The saint replied, It is me. The voice responded, Out you go The saint continued her meditation and again came very close to the Reality. Again the voice said, Who are you? This time she replied, It is your servant. The voice again said, Out you go. Once more the saint continued with here meditation until she attained the highest state of consciousness. The voice once more said. Who are you? Now she replied, It is you, and was finally let in to experience the Reality. The moral of this Sufi story is that we become something when we become nothing. When we eliminate our ego, we experience enlightenment. You and I become one. I and you become one.Seven steps to Lasting Happiness Azim Jamal __ Soul Power Yahoo! Mail Bring photos to life! [IslamCity] The Muslim is Friendly And Likeable
In the name of Allah most gracious most merciful The Muslim is Friendly And Likeable The Muslim who truly understands the teachings of his religion is gentle, friendly and likeable. He mixes with people and gets along with them. This is something which should be a characteristic of the Muslim who understands that keeping in touch with people and earning their trust is one of the most important duties of the Muslim. It is an effective means of conveying the message of truth to them, and exposing them to its moral values, because people only listen to those whom they like, trust and accept. Hence there are many Hadiths which commend the type of person who is friendly and liked by others. Such a person is one of those chosen ones who are beloved by the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) and will be closest to him on the Day of Resurrection:"Shall I not tell you who among you is the most beloved to me and will be closest to me on the Day of Resurrection?" He repeated it two or three times, and they said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h.). He said: "Those of you who are the best in attitude and character." (Reported by Ahmad and its Isnad is Jayyid) Some reports add: "Those who are down to earth and humble, who get along with others and with whom others feel comfortable." One of the attributes of the believer is that he gets along with others and others feel comfortable with him. He likes people and they like him. If he is not like this, then he will not be able to convey the message or achieve anything of significance. Whoever is like that has no goodness in him, as in the Hadith:"The believer gets along with people and they feel comfortable with him. There is no goodness in the one who does not get along with people and with whom they do not feel comfortable. (Reported by Ahmad and al-Bazar; the men of Ahmad's Isnad are Rijal as-Sahih) The Prophet (p.b.u.h.) set the highest example of good behaviour towards people. He was skilful in softening their hearts and called them to follow him in word and deed. He demonstrated how to reach people's hearts and win their love and admiration. He was always cheerful and easy-going, never harsh. When he came to any gathering, he would sit wherever there was a free space, and he told others to do likewise. He treated everyone equally, so that no one who was present in a gathering would feel that anyone else was receiving preferential treatment. If anyone came to him and asked for something, he would give it to them, or at least respond with kind words. His good attitude extended to everyone and he was like a father to them. The people gathered around him were truly equal, distinguished only by their level of taqwa. They were humble, respecting their elders, showing compassion to young ones, giving priority to those in need and taking care of strangers. The Prophet (p.b.u.h.) never used to disappoint anyone who came to ask from him. There are three characteristics that he did not possess: he was not argumentative, he did not talk too much, and he did not concern himself with matters that were not his business. There are three things that he never did to people: he never criticized anyone, he never said "Shame on you!" to anyone, and he never looked for anyone's faults. He never said anything but that for which he hoped to earn reward. When he spoke, the people around him would listen earnestly, sitting still as if there were birds on their heads. When he was silent, then they would speak. They never argued with one another in his presence. They would smile at whatever he smiled at, and would be impressed by whatever impressed him. He would be patient with a stranger who might be harsh in his requests or questions, and his Companions would ask the stranger to speak gently. He said, "If you see someone in need, then help him." He never accepted praise except from someone who was thanking him for a favour, and he never cut off anyone who was speaking; he would wait until the person indicated that he had finished, or stood up. Aishah tells us that he used to be cautious of the worst type of people, and he would speak gently to them and treat them well. A man sought permission to enter upon him and he said, "Let him in, what a bad brother of his tribe he is!" When the man came in, he spoke gently to him. Aishah said: O Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h.), you said what you said, and then you spoke gently to him. He (p.b.u.h.) said, "O Aishah, the worst of people is the one whom people avoid (or are gentle towards) because they fear his slander." (Bukhari and Muslim) The true Muslim follows in the footsteps of his Prophet in his dealings with all people, whether they are good or bad, so that he is liked and accepted by all people. Re: [IslamCity] London Mayor Livingstone Suspension Triggers Constitutional Row
Assallamu Allaikum, What is freedom of speach if a man that insulted Islam and Muslims is free while a man that did not believe that there was a holucost was sentenced to three years while a Mayor that said someone was behaving like a gaurd in a concentration camp was suspended? I blame the leaders of the Islamic countries more than I blame the west. They have sold Islam to the west for petro dollar and so have made Islam secondary. All Muslims must remember that If this world was more than the wing of a mosquito in the sight of Allah(SWT), Allah(SWT) will not give the kafir water to drink. May Allah(SWT) forgive us for our negligence. Massallam. --- S A Hannan@yahoo.com wrote: Livingstone Suspension Triggers Constitutional Row Elected politicians should only be able to be removed by the voters or for breaking the law, said Livingstone. CAIRO, February 25, 2006 (IslamOnline.net) - The suspension of London Mayor Ken Livingstone for four weeks for comparing a Jewish reporter to a Nazi concentration camp guard triggered an immediate constitutional row, reported the Guardian on Saturday, February 25. An elected mayor should only be removed by the law or by an election, said Nicky Gavron, the deputy mayorn who will take over if Livingstone is forced to stand down. Millions of Londoners elect the mayor and three unelected officials have removed him, said Ms Gavron, the daughter of a Jewish refugee from Nazi Germany. The Adjudication Panel for England - a government-appointed panel which hears complaints against local authority members - ruled on Friday, February 24, that Livingstone should be suspended for four weeks starting March 1. The three-man panel said Livingstone's remarks to Oliver Finegold, a reporter for the London Evening Standard, on February 8 last year had been unnecessarily insensitive and offensive. David Laverick, the panel's chair, said they did not think it appropriate to disqualify the mayor from office, but were concerned he had failed to appreciate his conduct was unacceptable and damaging to his office. Livingstone, 60, immediately criticized the panel's ruling as one that strikes at the heart of democracy. He can appeal but is liable for costs estimated at up to 80,000 pounds (117,000 euros, 139,000 dollars). Disrupt This decision constitutes a clear over reaction and an affront to our democratic traditions, said Sir Sacranie. The suspension also drew fire from unions and MPs. It is outrageous that an unelected body of three men has deprived seven million Londoners of their elected mayor for four weeks, said Tony Woodley, general secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union. Whilst many had wanted Ken Livingstone to apologize, suspension for such a long period seems to me to be totally disproportionate and serves no other purpose than to disrupt the work of the [Greater London] authority at a time when London needs it most. We will support London's mayor in whatever measures he may take to challenge this scandal. Andrew Dismore, chair of London's Labour MPs, seemed to agree. It is for the people of London to decide who should or should not be the mayor of London, not an unelected panel of bureaucrats. Jenny Jones, a Green party London assembly member, said she was outraged that this system allows three undemocratically appointed individuals to suspend a man who was elected by the vote of millions of Londoners. Livingstone won election to the newly created post of mayor in 2000 after leaving Blair's Labour Party and defeating the Labour's candidate. He later returned to the party, but has frequently clashed with Blair, leading marches against the US-led invasion of Iraq. Blow to Democracy The sizable Muslim minority blasted the suspension as a blow to democracy. This decision constitutes a clear over reaction and an affront to our democratic traditions, said Sir Iqbal Sacranie, the secretary general of the umbrella Muslim Council of Britain (MCB). He [ Livingstone] is a committed anti-racist campaigner of longstanding. We are proud to stand by him and hope to see this ridiculous verdict overturned shortly. The MCB reiterated fullest support for Mayor Livingstone in his efforts to promote security, prosperity and cohesion between London's diverse ethnic and religious communities. The Muslim Association of Britain also echoed a similar position, saying it was appalled by the decision to suspend Livingstone. Londoners must decry this decision against Mr Livingstone whose achievements and service of the city of London are appreciated and recognized by everyone, friend or foe, the
[IslamCity] DAJJAL BUSH 'DISAPPEARS'' HIS KINDHEARTS AGENT PROVOCATEUR
Assalamu aleikum. Anyone remaining in doubt that Dajjal Bush is waging a war against Islam and the Muslims need only examine Dajjal Bush's activities against Kindhearts. A secret agent was deployed by the Bush Regime in an effort to entice Muslims to commit terrorist acts so that Bush could commit further atrocities against Islam and deprive Muslims of their civil rights. And now the secret agent has conveniently disappeared after having arranged indictments using falsely sworn testimony. --- U.S. informant in terror probes disappears Christopher Evans, Amanda Garrett, Mark Rollenhagen and Mike Tobin Cleveland Plain Dealer Wednesday, March 01, 2006 http://www.cleveland.com/printer/printer.ssf?/base/cuyahoga/1141205961140360.xmlcoll=2 They called him Bilal. He was built like Steelers running back Jerome Bettis, easily made friends at two Toledo mosques and was eager to teach Muslims how to use guns. And when the brothers at Masjid at-Tawfeeq wanted to build a new mosque, he connected them with leaders he said he knew at KindHearts, a Toledo-based Muslim charity that hands out about $4 million a year. Now, three of those brothers are jailed on terrorism charges, KindHearts is closed amid allegations that it supports Hamas, and Bilal - nicknamed the Trainer in a federal indictment - has disappeared. Bilal, 39, of Toledo, was working undercover for the U.S. government in terrorism probes that reached into both the small storefront mosque and the headquarters of KindHearts, which is supported by contributions from Muslims throughout the United States. Prosecutors said the Trainer, whose full name is not being released at the request of the FBI, made the case against the three men arrested last week - Marwan El-Hindi, Mohammad Amawi and Wassim Mazloum. The defendants are accused of secretly plotting to aid and to join the insurgency battling U.S.-led coalition forces in Iraq. My understanding is he is the connection between the two investigations, said Stephen Hartman, one of El-Hindi's lawyers. Prosecutors have said the investigations of the Toledo men and KindHearts were separate. But investigators raided KindHearts and the men's homes on the same day last month and seized items related to the charity in the homes and at a travel agency where one of the suspects worked. Jihad Smaili, KindHearts' Cleveland-based lawyer and board member, did not return messages seeking comment. Hartman and Charles Sallah, who represents Mazloum, question whether Bilal entrapped their clients. I want to know how big a role he played in creating the conspiracy. Was he really the main criminal? Sallah said. All three defendants remain in jail. A magistrate in Cleveland on Tuesday ruled that Amawi should remain in jail until the trial because he is a risk to flee and a threat to the public. Neither Mazloum nor El-Hindi asked for bond. Much of Bilal's past and how he came to work for the government remains a mystery. The brothers at the mosque at first embraced him as one of many who show up to learn about Salafism, which teaches a form of Islam they believe was practiced centuries ago. Sharif Abdulrahman, one of the founders of at-Tawfeeq, said he first remembers Bilal coming to the mosque for prayers a couple of years ago. Some of the worshippers had worked with Bilal in a security business downtown before it lost a lucrative contract, Abdulrahman said. Bilal stood out not only because of his size - 5-feet-9 and 250 pounds - but also because he talked about working as a bodyguard and about his special forces experience in the U.S. military. Some people gravitated toward him, Abdulrahman said. He added that Bilal, Amawi and Mazloum attended the Friday prayers at the mosque while El-Hindi worshipped daily. Bilal suggested to at-Tawfeeq's leaders that they might be able to get financial help through KindHearts to buy or build a new mosque, Abdulrahman said. Bilal said he knew a top official at KindHearts and told the mosque officials whom to contact. Abdulrahman said they made contact with KindHearts but nothing came of it.
