The British Court of Appeal today threw out an appeal by the country's Home Office to deny Hicks British citizenship. Major Michael Mori said his client, who has been imprisoned in the US camp in Cuba for more than four years, would remain there for at least several more months despite the decision. I'm sure the (British) Government will try to ask for appeal from this decision to the House of Lords, Major Mori said. However, he said this was less likely to be accepted given the unanimous court decision. I just wish the British Government would get on with it and go down to Guantanamo and formalise David's citizenship, Major Mori said. Major Mori said Hicks would never renounce his Australian citizenship and he did not believe a dual citizenship would harm his client. I think the British Government's position on Guantanamo bay and the military commissions has been clear ... military commissions do not meet international standards, Guantanamo should close, and I don't see the British Government changing its position on Guantanamo Bay, he said. I hope that they will stick to their values and their position ... and David Hicks will see the same benefits that every other British national has received. There's only one UK and one Aussie national left (in Guantanamo Bay) and that's David Hicks, and after over four years it's about time he was reunited with his family and received justice. He also said it was time the Australian Government reconsidered its position on the matter. Over four years in confinement and I think it's about time to bring him (Hicks) home, Major Mori said. Unfortunately, waiting for the Australian Government to stand up for the rights of one of its citizens in this case has taken far too long. It seems the Australian Government will take action to protect the human rights of some Indonesian citizens but it won't take the action to protect the rights of David Hicks, Major Mori said. He said Hicks's legal team was awaiting a decision by the US Supreme Court on the legality of the military commission Hicks is facing. Obviously, if the Supreme Court goes against commissions, the commissions will stop. Mississippi - Less than two months before the next
hurricane season starts on June 1, overworked
officials and frazzled homeowners are bracing for the
possibility of another killer storm in a region where
thousands still live in government-issued trailers or
under blue tarps.
Emergency management director Joe Spraggins knows it
will take stockpiles of food, water and fuel, as well
as better evacuation routes to survive if the Gulf
Coast gets hit by another monster storm this season.
What he cannot fully plan for is the psychological
toll another hurricane could exact on residents
struggling to rebuild their lives after Katrina.
They're already at the point of breaking, he said.
If we have another storm of any size this summer,
mental health is going to be a huge issue.
Katrina laid waste to tens of thousands of homes and
businesses and killed more than 1 300 people in
Louisiana and Mississippi.
Critical period of vulnerability
This hurricane season could be more brutal than last
year's, when a record-setting 27 storms, including 15
hurricanes, churned in the Atlantic Ocean. Forecasters
say the Atlantic is in a period of increased hurricane
activity that could last another a decade or longer.
Even a weaker storm than Katrina could be devastating,
wiping out much of the modest progress that has been
made and sweeping away the little trailers.
Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour calls this a
critical period of vulnerability.
We're going to pray for the best but prepare for the
worst, he said.
New emergency plan
Spraggins, whose territory includes Katrina-battered
Gulfport and Biloxi, said the county is devising a new
emergency plan to replace the old one.
Katrina made a mockery out of federal, state and local
emergency plans. Evacuation routes were clogged,
communications were spotty, and emergency supplies
were not positioned to arrive quickly in the areas of
greatest need.
We will never be prepared to take a Katrina, but we
will be prepared to do a lot better than we did the
last time, Spraggins said.
In Mississippi, about 99 000 people are living in more
than 36 000 FEMA trailers and mobile homes. In
Louisiana, more than 51 000 trailers dot the
landscape.
Many people whose homes were demolished by Katrina
also lost cars and trucks, meaning it could be
difficult for them to get out if another storm
threatens.
Natural defences weak
Likewise, the coast's natural defences have never been
weaker. Katrina, followed by Hurricane Rita a month
later, ripped apart a band of barrier islands and
wetlands that help soften a hurricane's blow.
These barrier islands are in many places the first
line of defence for the mainland, said Abby
Sallenger, an oceanographer for the US Geological
Survey. If we have another hurricane hit, how much
worse will the impact be?

(Quran, Al-Zukhruf, 43:61) IDENTIFICATION OF TRUE MASIH OF LAST ERA A subject for the thoughtful A treatise for the fair-minded FOREWORD Allah's Prophet Muhammad(sallallaho alaihe wassallam) has informed that some major signs shall precede the occurrence of the Resurrection Day. Among them are: the Appearance of Hazrat Mahdi, emerging of Dajjal, the one-eyed impostor, and descending of Hazrat Masih Isa Bin Mariam(AS) in this world. This Tradition has been received as a Mutawatir Hadith. Many insolent adventurists sprang up in the past, claiming to be Mahdi or Masih but their claims paled down on the touchstone of truth and facts. However, their protagonists in some numbers are still alive. Taking his cue from these liars, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian (India) followed in their footsteps in the nineteenth century A.D. Moving step by step, he claimed to be a revivalist (Mujaddid) in 1884, Masih in 1891 and finally a prophet (Nabi) in 1901. In this manner, one more name was added in the list of those who claimed to be Masih, Mahdi and Nabi. In Rajab, 1399, A.H., I wrote a pamphlet which was in reply to a letter, a Qadiani had sent me. In it I had enumerated some holy utterances of the holy Prophet(sallallaho alaihe wassallam) in this regard. These were but the same as Mirza Ghulam Ahmad had himself earlier acknowledged. Mirza admitted that these special signs must precede before Masih comes forth in the world. Despite what he had admitted, he came out later with the claim that he himself was Mahdi and Masih, knowing well that he was telling lies and making false claims. My pamphlet, which is now before you titled as Shinakht (Identification) has been published several times in the past but here is its revised edition. May Allah, the Exalted, grant it approbation and turn it into an instrument for guiding the misguided ones. Muhammad Yusuf Ludhianvi Rajab 14, 1410, A.H IDENTIFICATION SIGNS OF HAZRAT MASIH A Qadiani gentleman once wrote me a piece of advice. He told me: You have made lots of plans and schemes for the destruction and ruin of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. You have shown all possible hostility to his God and Prophet. Now, come, be kind to yourself for God's sake. If you can't reform your own self, at least don't invite God's displeasure to hit you because you are misguiding people and carrying them away from what is true. My answer was: Indeed, indeed, I value your advice. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, if really a Masih and a Mahdi, my denial of him amounts to my denying Allah. I stand exposed, inviting His displeasure because I am misguiding people. But same to you, my brother-in-humanity, if it happens the other way round, that is, if Mirza Ghulam Ahmad turns out to be a cheat. While analyzing the contents of your letter I saw that you quoted one statement of the holy Prophet(sallallaho alaihe wassallam). You wrote that he said: When Masih and Mahdi appear, convey to them my salaam. Now, I ask you: Along with this message, the Prophet(sallallaho alaihe wassallam) must have also told the Ummah how to recognize and identify Masih, because unless he is recognized how would the Ummah convey to him the Prophet's message of salaam. Also, when we should expect Masih to come; how long he will stay; what about his physical looks, his dress; where he will go; what he will do; when and where he will die; and so on. Yes, for your information, all necessary signs and details about these matters have been bequeathed to the Ummah in the exalted Traditions of the holy Prophet(sallallaho alaihe wassallam). Let's analyze these signs one by one. Let's see, whether Mirza fits into them. If he does, OK, take him on as Masih and call others to do the same, but if he does not, then, I shall take you for a ride and tell everybody that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was an ultra-hoax. I wouldn't stop at that. I would also say that chicanery has degrees; Syed Muhammad Jaunpuri (U.P., India), Mulla Muhammad Attoki (Punjab) and Ali Muhammad Baab (Iran) were hoaxes in the comparative degree but Mirza was in the superlative degree! After my analysis if you still persisted in calling him a 'Masih', then, I am afraid, a vulture with sleepy eyelids is a phoenix for you. Therefore, it is a duty, yours, mine and that of everybody to focus Mirza into the light of those identification signs the holy Ahadith specify. If Mirza's parameter blurs, be honest to reject him. Take up my gauntlet since it's you who have stirred up the hornets' peace. I proceed with Allah's guidance: 1. Times of Hazrat Masih's Arrival When will Hazrat Masih (AS) come is obviously the foremost question. For an answer to it, I quote your grand-sire Mirza Ghulam Ahmad himself from his book Haqiqat-ul Wahi, P.193: First sign: Said Allah's Prophet Allah will raise for this at the head of each century, one person who will revive Deen for it.

CAIRO, April 11, 2006 (IslamOnline.net) Up to 231
prominent Al-Azhar University graduates from all the world over gather
Tuesday, April 11, for the first forum of the alumni of one of the
prestigious seats of learning in the Muslim world.
"The aftermath of the 9/11 attacks and the increasing
demand for an effective role by Al-Azhar scholars worldwide makes more
pressing the need for close contacts between famed graduates," Al-Azhar
University President Ahmad El-Tayyip told IslamOnline.net.
"You can hardly find a country without having Muslims
who studied in Al-Azhar," he noted.
El-Tayyip said distinguished Al-Azhar graduates are
expected now to counter radicals, who are acting in the name of
Islam.
"We receive requests from many countries to open
Al-Azhar colleges on their soils," he said.
Tayyip said the graduates will be urged to try their
best in standing up to the current campaigns sullying the image of the
Muslim faith in the West and helping resolve Muslim contentious
issues.
Chief among the prominent graduates who will up show
up are President of Maldives Maumoon Abdul Qayoom and Sheikh Yusuf
Al-Qaradawi, the head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars
(IUMS).
Qayoom will deliver the graduates speech at the
opening session to be followed by Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Mohamad
Sayyed Tantawi and Qaradawi, who will talk about Al-Azhar role in serving
Islam and Muslims.
Unified Plan
Qayoom will deliver the graduates
speech.
Tayyip said that the two-day get-together will come up
with a unified action plan to be adopted by Al-Azhar scholars to meet the
serious challenges facing the Muslim nation.
The forum is made up of a number of sessions, notably:
Al-Azhar Throughout Centuries, Al-Azhar and the State, Al-Azhar's Message
and Contemporary Problems and Communication Between Al-Azhar
Graduates.
Al-Azhar has recently revealed plans to launch a
satellite channel to counter anti-Islam onslaughts and highlight the true
essence of Islam as a religion of peace and tolerance.
Al-Azhar, which means the "most flourishing and
resplendent," is the highest seat of learning in the Sunni Muslim
world.
It was named after Fatima Al-Zahraa -- daughter of
Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) -- who gave rise to the
Fatimid dynasty which governed Egypt from 969 to 1171 CE.
The first courses at Al-Azhar were given in 975 CE and
the first college was built 13 years later.
Al-Azhar first admitted women students in 1961, albeit
in separate classes.
Also in 1961, subjects in engineering and medicine
were added to classes on Shari`ah, the Noble Quran and the intricacies of
Arabic language.

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: By Allah, if Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of camels. [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]
The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said, Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all.
