  Stand for Justice, Again:

‘MAS’ Calls for Support and Justice for Br Sabri Ben Khala

WASHINGTON, DC - Apr. 17, 2007 (MASNET): By all accounts, Sabri Ben Khala is
a highly intelligent, ambitious, and God-fearing young Muslim. He was never in
trouble with the law, and he never imagined that he would be the target of
criminal prosecution by the U.S. government. But much to the dismay of the
Muslim community, he was.His odyssey through the twisted convolutions of the
American justice system is a strange one. A United States citizen and graduate
of George Mason University in northern Virginia, Sabri desired to broaden his
Islamic knowledge and enroll as a graduate student in Islamic studies at the
University of Medina in Saudi Arabia. But shortly before his scheduled
graduation date in June, 2003, he was arrested by Saudi security agents, and
then stripped searched, interrogated, shackled, and held in solitary
confinement, without ever having charges brought up against him. Then he was
turned over by the Saudi security forces to the F.B.I., who transported
him to the U.S. and charged him as a defendant in the Virginia 11 Paintball
case.

On March 9th, 2004, after eight months of home confinement, Sabri was found
not guilty on all counts by U.S. District Judge Brinkema. But despite his
acquittal, he was then called in by the FBI for several debriefings, and
experienced having his own home raided and seeing his elderly father placed in
handcuffs.
Then, in February, 2006, Sabri was indicted again and charged with making
false statements to a Grand Jury, and then, gain, in July of the same year,
accused of making false statements to the F.B.I. During the second trial,
Sabri was forbidden to mention to the jury that he was being tried on the same
charges that had been dismissed in his earlier case. Sabri was then convicted
of making false statements to the Grand Jury, and now faces a jail term of
undetermined length.
There are many more details related to the case of brother Sabri, but suffice
it to say that, as with Dr. Sami Al-Arian, the criminal justice system of this
country is determined to make innocent Muslims guilty of crimes- even after
they have been found not guilty in jury trials.
We are calling on MAS members, chapters, and supporters to stand with Brother
Sabri Ben Khala. Already, one masjid, Masjid Dar Ul-Hijra, has organized a
weekly campaign of letter writing on behalf of Sabri, including testimonies
affirming his good character and positive standing in the community. These
affirmations of his good character will be of great possible benefit to him,
insha'Allah, when the current postponement of his sentencing expires and he in
brought into court again.
Please write and express your concern, and your positive affirmation of the
character of our brother, by writing to him at:

The Prophet Muhammad reminded us all that None of you is a believer until
he loves for his brother what he loves for himself. We urge you to love
justice, and to express your support to Brother Sabri, his family, and his
community, in this time of trial.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] A British Neo-Nazi's Journey to Islam

2007-04-18 Thread Raihan
A British Neo-Nazi's Journey to Islam
By Abdul Aziz Myatt
Islam - submission to the will of Allah. I converted to Islam because there
came a time when both my mind and my heart accepted that there was no god but
Allah and that Muhammad was His Messenger. All that I had believed and upheld
before this conversion is at worst wrong, and at best irrelevant.
My duty now, the purpose of my life, is to do the will of Allah, to submit to
the will of Allah — to strive, In sha' Allah, to be a good, a devout, Muslim.
To live as a Muslim in the way that Allah has decreed, through his Prophet and
Messenger Muhammad. One of the many wonderful things which occurred on the day
I converted was when the Imam of the Mosque explained that by accepting Islam I
had begun a new life — Allah had forgiven me my sins, and it was as if I
started my life again with my Book of Life, the record of my sins, empty.
I have a new life now, a new identity — for I am a Muslim, and all Muslims are
my brothers, wherever they happen to live, and whatever race they are said to
belong to.
How was it that I, a Westerner with a history of political involvement in
extreme right-wing organizations, came to be standing one Sunday outside a
Mosque with a sincere desire to go inside and convert to Islam? The simple
answer is that it was the will of Allah — He guided me there. As for my
political past, it belongs to the past. All I can do now is to trust in Allah,
the Compassionate, the Merciful, the Lord of all the worlds.
As Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid — a distinguished scholar — has said:
Asking for details of a persons past and wanting to know what sins they might
have committed when they were ignorant about Islam is not right at all. Allah
covers peoples' sins and loves to see them covered (i.e. not dragged out into
the open). So long as a person has repented, his sins have been wiped out.
Islam deletes whatever came before, so why should we ask questions that will
only embarrass people? Allah accepts people's repentance without their having
to confess or expose their sins to any other person. A number of the sahabah
[companions of the Prophet] had committed adultery and murder repeatedly, or
had buried infant girls alive, or stolen things, but when they entered Islam
they were the best of people. No one needs to be reminded of a shameful past;
it is over and done with, and Allah is the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
In terms of the 'Western' explanation that most Westerners will seek in order
to try and understand my conversion, I suppose my journey toward Islam began
when I first went to Egypt and, as a tourist, visited a Mosque. The Adhan — the
call to prayer — had begun and I was struck by its beauty.
It is fair to say my heart responded to it in a way that, at the time, I did
not understand. Then, I knew little about Islam, but each time I visited Egypt
I learnt a little more. I talked to several Egyptians about their religion, and
bought a copy of an English translation of the Qur'an. The little bits I read
made a lot of sense to me, and the more I learnt about Islam, the more
admirable it seemed to be. The more Muslims I met, the more I admired them.
But I was still in thrall to my own ego, my own Western way of life, and by two
other things which prevented me from fully appreciating Islam and investigating
it further. First, my life-long belief in Nature: the belief that we somehow
belong to Mother Earth in a special, almost pagan, way and that our own
consciousness is the consciousness of Nature.
Second, that it was our nation, our national culture, which defined us and
which therefore, was of supreme importance. But, in my heart, I always felt a
universal, honorable, compassion, as I always felt the need to be aware of the
numinous, the sacred. Many times in my life I believed this numinosity
derived from God, the supreme Being — while at other times I believed it
derived from Nature, from the cosmos itself: from what I often termed the
gods.
For decades, I wavered between these two versions regarding the origin of the
sacred. Because of this awareness, these feelings, I was not as many people —
and journalists in particular — believed me to be: some sort of fanatical
political extremist who 'hated' people. And yet it is true to say that I was
perhaps too arrogant — too sure of myself and the understanding I believed I
had achieved — to give in to this compassion, this awareness, and accept I was
simply a humble creation of an all-powerful Supreme Being. Instead, I believed
I could make if not a significant difference then at least some difference to
this world, based on my own beliefs and understanding.
Conversion
My conversion really begins when I started a new job, working long hours on a
farm, often by myself. The close contact with Nature, the toil of manual labor,
really did restore my soul, my humanity, and I became really aware of the
Oneness of the Cosmos and of how

 SLANDER

Slander can be defined generally as to burden someone non-
existing offence, to imputate unfounded bad things, to defame
intentionally, calumny. (1) And it is the heaviest, the most
dishonourable violation of Human Rights according to Qoran (the Holy
Book). Slanderers,..ARE CURSED IN THIS WORLD AND THE HEREAFTER. (2)

There is a such tombstone in a old cemetery in Denizli,

With slander, disasters blew on the top of my head.
They destroyed my life…when i was thirty-three. (33)

Slander breaks up marriages, destroys homes and families… Slandering
is easy but (If I may use this expression) swallowing or accepting
this dishonourable behaviour is not possible…Slandering is very easy
for slanderer…The late Nayzan TAWFIQ says IF YOU SAY TO A DOG RABID-
(hydrophobia), In any case SOMEONE WILL KILL IT. (4)

***
Hassan Basri (rha) saw a man and a woman that were eating, drinking
somethings near The Tigris River, and said that:

-If this man had not drunk and sat with foreign woman (she is not so
closely related by blood that marriage with her is forbidden), he
would have been superior to me.

Meanwhile two persons fell down the river and this man saved them
then said to Hassan Basri (rha)

-O! Hassan! If you were superior to me, we should see you to save
these persons from the river…THIS WOMAN IS MY MOTHER, OUR MEAL IS
BREAD and DRINK IS WATER… I TESTED YOU.…Hassan Basri (rha) hunched
down to his hands and feet and apologized…(5)

SLANDERER AND SATAN

(221) Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is
that the evil ones descend? (222) They descend on every lying, wicked
(the one that is fond of sin, slander, very liars, forger) person,
(223) (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them
are liars. (The Holy Qoran surah:26-ayahs 221,222,223) (6)

Only guide of humanity, our Prophet (pbuh) say about on this
important subject: Who slanders to a non-muslim, he/she is whipped
with whips from the fire in Doomsday. (7)

Abu Ubayda Qurayshi tells : He visited a good, right person and asked
him:
1-What is wider place than earth's surface?
Right and justice are wider than earth's surface
2-What is harder than a stone?
The heart of infidel, unbeliever is harder than a stone.
3-What is hotter and more burning than fire
AMBITION, is hotter and more burning than fire
4-What is colder than the dead of winter?
To need a mean person.
5-What is richer than the sea?
A convinced heart (someone who is content with what he/she has)
is richer than the sea.
6-Who is weaker than an orphan?
Gossip, slanderer is weaker than an orphan, when his/her act is
exposed.
7-What is heavier than the heavens?
Slander to a chaste, honorable woman…(8)

The man effected by this statement stood up and
kissed the forehead of Hadrat Zaynal Abidin then said: It's worth

Hadrat Zaynal Abidin replied :
-May Allah forgive you! (9)

3- does not act justly in his judgment.
Sa'ad Abi Vakkas said to the man in response to these untrue

3-Meet him with fitnahs (afflictions and trials)
Abdulmalik b. Umayr said : I saw him after years. His eyebrows had

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] FAAZAIL E QURAN

2007-04-18 Thread Saba Khan
Hadhrat Uthman (Radhiyallaho anha] narrates that
Ra-sulullah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) said: The
best amongst you is he who learns the Qur'an and
teaches it. In most of the books, this hadith is
quoted with the word 'and* between 'learns' and
'teaches' as above. Thus the greatest reward would be
for him who learns the Holy Qur'an and thereafter
teaches it to others. But in some of the books this
'hadith's is narrated with the word 'or', in which
case the meaning would be: The best amongst you is he
who learns the Qur'an or-teaches it.

According to this version, the reward is general,
i.e., equally great whether one learns himself or
teaches to others.
Thus there would be equal virtue for both.

The Qur'an is the basis of the religion of Islam, and
on the preservation and propagation of the Qur'an
depends the very existence of this faith. Hence the
virtue of learning and teaching the Qur'an is
self-evident and does not need further elucidation.

There are, however, various degrees of excellence. The
highest is to learn the Qur'an along with its meanings
and purport, and the least is to learn its words only.

The hadith mentioned above is supported also by
another saying of Rasulullah (Sallallaho alaihe
wasallam) as reported by Hadhrat Sa'eed ibn Saleem
(Radhiyallaho anho): If a person who has acquired
knowledge of the Holy Qur'an considers another person
who has been gifted with something else to be more
fortunate than himself, he has shown disrespect to the
blessings of Allah bestowed on him on account of his
learning the Qur'an. It is evident that since the
Qur'an, being the Word of Allah, is superior to all
other discourses as mentioned in some of the Ahadith
quoted later, its reading and teaching must be
superior to everything else.

Mulla Alt Qari quotes from another hadith that whoever
acquires the knowledge of Holy Qur'an stores the
knowledge of Prophethood in his forehead.

Sahl Tastari (Rahmatullah alaih) says that the proof
of love for Allah is the existence of love for the
Word of Allah in one's heart.

In 'Sharhul Ihya, the list of people who will be given
shelter in the shade of the Arsh (Throne of Allah) on
the fearful Day of Judgment includes those persons who
teach the Qur'an to the children of Muslims and also
those who learn the Holy Qur'an in their childhood and
are devoted to its recitation when grown up.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] a Chronological-justice , Israel would not like

2007-04-18 Thread raja chemayel

There are many UN Resolutions
some came from its General-Assembly
and others came from the Security-Council.

The United Nations Organisation is far from being perfect
but it seems to be the most International-global-universal-authority.

Some resolutions were tailor-made , others were ridiculous ,
others were bias , some were manipulated , others were a compromise,
some were aborted , some were born-dead, some were born-to-be-defeated,
some were forgotten before their ink dried out..
and the majority were never implemented.

I would like to propose a compromise ,
bearing in mind that the UNO is not perfect
in a World which even less-perfect

I propose to implement and to fully execute all UNO-resolutions
starting with Resolution Number One and then number two
and finishing up all of them .. but only chronologically.

How about , when each Country would put at the disposal
of the UNO 15% of its Military-forces to create a world-police-force
to implement those resolutions , one by one and chronologically ??

I would like it
and Israel would surely not .

How about you ??

How to Make your Wife Happy

To help strengthening the Muslim families and spread the teachings of Islam
in building families, the Muslim Students' Association at the University of
Alberta prepared a extremely summarized translation for two books. The books
are Arabic by Sheikh Mohammad Abdelhaleem Hamed. An Egyptian scholar, who
graduated from the Islamic University of AlMadinah Al-Munawwarah in Saudi
Arabia. The two books are:

1- How to make your wife happy
2- How to make your husband happy

These are the best Arabic books I have seen on this subject. They exceed the
traditional presentation of stating rights and duties to the 'Adab (good
manners) and extend into application of these rights in daily life. The
following summary highlights mainly the responsibilities or examples of what
could or should be done. Every single item mentioned by the author is
supported by evidences from Qur'an, Sunnah or the actions of the companions,
but evidences are omitted in this translation. The following is the
 translation of the FIRST book.

This translation is copyrighted to MSA at University of Alberta. Feel free to
repost it or reprint it by all means, provided that you do not make any
changes, additions, or omissions without permission.

How to make your wife happy !! (Part 1)
 ---

The following is part ONE of a summary of the book How to make your wife
happy by Sheikh Mohammed Abdelhaleem Hamed.

 1. Beautiful Reception

After returning from work, school, travel, or whatever has separated you:
* begin with a good greeting.
* Start with Assalamau 'Aliaykum and a smile. Salam is a sunnah and a du'aa
for her as well.
* Shake her hand and leave bad news for later!

 2. Sweet Speech and Enchanting Invitations

* Choose words that are positive and avoid negative ones.
* Give her your attention when you speak of she speaks.
* Speak with clarity and repeat words if necessary until she understands.
* Call her with the nice names that she likes, e.g. my sweet-heart, honey,
saaliha, etc.

 3. Friendliness and Recreation

* Spend time talking together.
* Spread to her goods news.
* Remember your good memories together.

 4. Games and Distractions

* Joking around having a sense of humor.
* Playing and competing with each other in sports or whatever.
* Taking her to watch permissible (halal) types of entertainment.
* Avoiding prohibited (haram) things in your choices of entertainment.

 5. Assistance in the Household

* Doing what you as an individual can/like to do that helps out,
especially if she is sick or tired.
* The most important thing is making it obvious that he appreciates her
hard work.

 6. Consultation (Shurah)

* Specifically in family matters.
* Giving her the feeling that her opinion is important to you.
* Studying her opinion carefully.
* Be willing to change an opinion for hers if it is better.
* Thanking her for helping him with her opinions.

 7. Visiting Others

* Choosing well raised people to build relations with. There is a great
reward in visiting relatives and pious people. (Not in wasting time while
visiting!)
* Pay attention to ensure Islamic manners during visits.
* Not forcing her to visit whom she does not feel comfortable with.

 8. Conduct During Travel

* Offer a warm farewell and good advice.
* Ask her to pray for him.
* Ask pious relatives and friends to take care of the family in your
absence.
* Give her enough money for what she might need.
* Try to stay in touch with her whether by phone, e-mail, letters, etc..
* Return as soon as possible.
* Bring her a gift!
* Avoid returning at an unexpected time or at night.
* Take her with you if possible.

 9. Financial Support

* The husband needs to be generous within his financial capabilities. He
should not be a miser with his money (nor wasteful).
* He gets rewards for all what he spends on her sustenance even for a small
piece of bread that he feeds her by his hand (hadeith).
* He is strongly encouraged to give to her before she asks him.

 10. Smelling Good and Physical Beautification

* Following the Sunnah in removing hair from the groin and underarms.
* Always being clean and neat.
* Put on perfume for her.

 11. Intercourse

* It is obligatory to do it habitually if you have no excuse (sickness,
etc.)
* Start with Bismillah and the authentic du'a.
* Enter into her in the proper place only (not the anus).
* Begin with foreplay including words of love.
* Continue until you have satisfied her desire.
* Relax and joke around afterwards.
* Avoid intercourse during the monthly period because it haram

Restrained in a chair, tied too tightly from the wrists

I screamed with pain as they threw their heavy fists

Deep into me, toppling me to the hard wooden floor

One kicked my body and asked if i wanted some more

So tired and beaten, no escape from this ongoing Hell

The interrogation finally ended I returned to my cell

An evil leader some years ago sold me off to the USA

To be shackled and hooded, and flown to Camp X-ray

Here I waited, beaten and humiliated by the shayateen

Forced to view sick images that I had never before seen

What crime had I committed, what wrong had I done

To be imprisoned for years, distanced from my son

I longed to converse with my fellow brothers detained

All the same, physically abused and mentally drained

I looked down at my own body scarred and tortured

O Allah! You are a Witness to all that I have endured

Sodomy being a norm for the perverted soldiers here

I prayed the punishment of Lut be on them severe

I stared blankly at the cell's heavy mesh-sided walls

Recalling my pre-imprisonment dreams future goals

From being a Qur'an Hafidh to a dedicated family man

They'd stolen my dreams but strengthened my iman

I smiled at the memory of my faithful, loving wife

So beautiful and optimistic in her outlook on life

Never once had she wavered in her loyalty to me

Her letters brought me hope, patience certainty

That this test is hard and the loneliness so great

But we cannot change what's written in our fate

Allah swt decides for us only that which is good

And I accept His Decree as a true believer should

Yet I think of a day when I'll walk freely like you

But will I be happy carefree, really like you?

My life is shattered and I am mentally scarred

Picking up the pieces seems incredibly hard

Which brother would I turn to if ever in need?

He who neglects my family out of fear greed?

Shunned abandoned by the 'Muslim' community

Our children cry helplessly while you call for Unity

What good is your Unity when you ignore their tears

Of this great injustice the Almighty Watches Hears

A day may come when you too call out in desperation

When your heart bleeds from a similar painful seperation

Help support us our families, O Muslims to you we turn

Do what you can by showing genuine brotherly concern.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Belgian Convert Day

  Belgian Convert Day *
  By Eva Vergaelen

Most women convert merely because of
the beauty of Islam.
The first Belgian day for converts took place on Sunday March 4, 2007. More
than 700 people joined the workshops and lectures. In the Imam Bukhari mosque
in Antwerp, 500 women and 200 men gathered in two gender-separated places.

Al-Minara (an organization that informs and supports new female converts)
organized the Convert Day for women, and De-Koepel (an organization that
informs and supports new male converts)organized the activities for men. This
is an interview with Aisha Cindy Raes and Karolien Mus, president and vice
president of Al-Minara respectively.

IslamOnline (IOL): What is Al-Minara?

Raes and Mus:Al-Minara means lighthouse or orientation point in Arabic. This is
exactly what our organization wants to be: A place were new converts can direct
themselves to. We appoint in every region in Belgium a sister who is
responsible for:

Assisting women who convert to Islam and answering their questions. It is
important for our new Muslim sisters to know someone in their neighborhood who
faced the same experiences or problems when converting. How to communicate with
your family about your religious choice, for example, is one such thing we can
help with.
Supporting women who are interested in Islam in finding the right
information.
Supporting organizations that deal with Muslims (e.g. hospitals).
Working towards a more positive and realistic perception on Muslims in
Belgian media and public opinion.
This can be done in different ways, such as making use of personal contacts,
organizing group activities, or setting up courses.

IOL: Why did you decide to organize a national day for converts?

Raes and Mus: Al-Minara has been very active in the last year. We organized
many activities and noticed that more women got interested in our organization.
We welcomed many new members, 300 of which are actively engaged on our forum.
We felt that it was time to organize something bigger, to create an opportunity
where converts could meet and where we could explain more about Islam to their
families and friends. A day during which Muslims born as Muslims and converts
could exchange experiences.

IOL: Why a day for converts, and not for Muslims in general?

Raes and Mus: We would like to stress the fact that this day was not only for
converts. On the contrary, our participants were also born Muslims, family
members and friends of converts, and people who were just interested in knowing
more about Islam. We call it a Convert Day because both our organizations
(Al-Minara and De-Koepel) target converts. We want to encourage them by showing
that they are not isolated, that we are many, and that we have a voice and a
message.

The activities during the day, however, were diverse in order to attract a wide
variety of people, not only converts. Women could participate in different
workshops, like halal cooking and styles of hijab wearing. About 20 women
announced their Shahadah. Most of them already were Muslims, but wanted to make
it official. A 73-year-old woman converted 35 years ago and told us about her
experiences. So did a mother of a convert. Apart from information gathering,
the day turned out to be quite emotional for many of us.

IOL: Are you planning another Convert Day?

Raes and Mus: In sha' Allah. It turned out to be a success, and we hope to
make it an annual event. Still many converts don't know our organization and
through a Convert Day we try to reach them.

IOL: Are there statistics on the amount and type of converts in Belgium?

Raes and Mus: Most converts say their Shahadah privately among sisters and
brothers. Only when they need an official proof of their religion - for
example, when they want to go on Hajj -, they would go to the Islamic Centre in
Brussels . As a result, we don't have a clear idea of how many converts there
are. There is not a dominant type of people that become converts. Converts come
from all social and educational backgrounds. The strength of Islam is that they
are all equal as Muslims.

The stereotype goes that most converts are women who fell in love with a
(Moroccan) man, who is of course Muslim, and as such entered Islam. This
however is not a majority. Most women convert merely because of the beauty of
Islam.

IOL: How are the contacts between converts and Muslims-by-birth?

Raes and Mus: Very well. Often young Muslim-by-birth women feel more at home
with converts, because they are more free from culturally biased practices. It
is not always easy for a critical young Moroccan Muslim woman to break taboos
within her community that are not based on religion, but on culture.
Conversations between Muslims-by-birth and converts often are very enriching.
