Boycott Israel [IslamCity] What You Eat, O My Servants ..... Accurate Qibla Direction Without a Compass - from Al-Islaah
What You Eat The slave of Hadhrat Abu Bakr(rahiyallahu anhu) used to work and bring something for his master to eat. Hadhrat Abu Bakr(rahiyallahu anhu) used to enquire about the source before consuming it. If it was acceptable, he would consume it, otherwise not. One day, as usual, the slave brought something and Hadhrat Abu Bakr(rahiyallahu anhu) ate it without enquiring about it. The slave asked in surprise:Today you are ate without enquiring? Hadhrat Abu Bakr(rahiyallahu anhu) said, I am very hungry, hence I forgot. Where did you acquire this from ? The slave replied, I was a soothsayer during the times of ignorance and someone benefited from my services. He promised to compensate me. Today, by coincidence I passed by his place where he was having a walimah and he gave me some of that food. Hadhrat Abu Bakr(rahiyallahu anhu)'s complexion changed and he was deeply perturbed that haraam food had entered his stomach, whereas Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wasallam) mentioned that Jannah becomes haraam on that body which was nourished with haraam sustenance. He placed his finger on his tongue again and again, till he spewed everything out. He continued this until, he was satisfied that there was nothing left in his stomach. (narrated by Hadhrat Zaid bin Arqam (rahiyallahu anhu) *** So eat of the sustenance which Allah has provided for you lawful and good; and be grateful for the favors of Allah if it is He whom you serve. (Qur'an 16:114) On the authority of Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger (peace be upon him)of Allah said: Allah the Almighty is good and accepts only that which is good. Allah has commanded the Faithful to do that which He commanded the Messengers, and the Almighty has said: O ye Messengers! Eat of the good things, and do right. (Quran 23:51). And Allah the Almighty has said: O ye who believe! Eat of the good things wherewith We have provid ed you. (2:172). Then he mentioned [the case of] a man who, having journeyed far, is disheveled and dusty and who spreads out his hands to the sky [saying]: O Lord! O Lord!-while his food is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, his clothing unlawful, and he is nourished unlawfully, so how can he be answered! (Muslim) Allahummak fi-nie bi-halaal-lika a'n haraa-mika wa-agh-ni-nie bi-fadh-lika amman siwaak O Allah, Provide me with lawful livelihood adequate to my needs instead of an ill-gotten one and grant me freedom from needing anything besides Thyself. In a hadith-e-Qudsi: On the authority of Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) relates that Allah said: O My servants, I have forbidden oppression for Myself and have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another. O My servants, all of you are astray except for those I have guided, so seek guidance of Me and I shall guide you, O My servants, all of you are hungry except for those I have fed, so seek food of Me and I shall feed you. O My servants, all of you are naked except for those I have clothed, so seek clothing of Me and I shall clothe you. O My servants, you sin by night and by day, and I forgive all sins, so seek forgiveness of Me and I shall forgive you. O My servants, you will not attain harming Me so as to harm Me, and will not attain benefitting Me so as to benefit Me. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as pious as the most pious heart of any one man of you, that would not increase My kingdom in anything. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as wicked as the most wicked heart of any one man of you, that would not decrease My kingdom in anything. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to rise up in one place and make a request of Me, and were I to give everyone what he requested, that would not decrease what I have, any more that a needle decreases the sea if put into it. O My servants, it is but your deeds that I reckon up for you and then recompense you for, so let him who finds good, praise Allah and let him who finds other that blame no one but himself. Boycott Israel [IslamCity] UK: Concerns voiced over new terror powers
Concerns voiced over new terror powers Times Online and David Cracknell, Political Editor of The Sunday Times Labour and opposition MPs joined Muslim and civil rights groups today in voicing concerns over proposed new anti-terror laws designed to give police powers to stop and question anyone in the UK. John Reid, the home secretary, who is quitting next month, intends to extend Northern Ireland's draconian police powers to interrogate individuals about who they are, where they have been and where they are going. Under the new laws, police will not need to suspect that a crime has taken place and can use the power to gain information about matters relevant to terror investigations. Anyone who refused to give their name or explain what they were doing could be charged with obstructing the police and fined up to £5,000. Mr Reid's cabinet colleague Peter Hain, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, warned the tough new anti-terror restrictions could become the domestic equivalent of Guantanamo Bay. David Davis, the shadow Home Secretary, said that the draconian announcements appeared to be more of a wish to project the reputation of Mr Reid and Mr Blair in their last weeks in office, than a need to protect the British public. He added: The Government should understand that no amount of new draconian laws will make up for incompetent implementation. We will consider carefully every proposal the Government comes up with and support those we judge to be effective, reasonable, and will not act as a recruiting sergeant for terrorism. This cannot, and will not, be concluded in four weeks. A consensual approach to terror laws is the right approach to take but will take some time. Bertie Ahern, the newly re-elected Irish Prime Minister, said Northern Ireland had been looking forward to the amendment of restrictive legislation introduced during the Troubles. He told Sunday Live on Sky News: International terrorism is something nobody can take for granted and nobody can ignore... but it would be a pity if that continues what has been a very restrictive regime in Northern Ireland which is certainly [image: Times Online Logo 222 x 25] May 27, 2007 -- Are you agreeing with this article? Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Israel as seen by an outsider...
An Icelandic woman writes... In 1994, I travelled to Israel for three weeks and found it very interesting. The next year, I went again, but this time, my curiosity was awakened as regards the troubles between the Israelis and Palestinians. I was also confused about the 1967 and 1973 wars Israel had with its neighbours. On my return to Iceland, my oldest son asked me if I could find him a job in Israel and I did. He got work at a hotel in Eilat. Around nine months later, I visited him and found him with a very good job and a nice salary. But he was not happy. He told me he was very angry at the Israelis. I was very surprised because at this time I really thought they were the good guys, but then my son told me about the differences Israelis make between Jews and the others, i.e. the Arabs, Muslim or Christian. He explained to me, for example, that he, as a foreign young man, a European, was after a very short time put in a job with a lot of power, and at the same time, Arabs that had been working there for years were treated as slaves, as subhuman. He had been told that he needed to be hard on Arabs, treat them like slaves, because, as the Israelis put it, they were lazy. But he had found his Arab friends to be very nice, polite, extremely generous and good, hard workers. In the end, he moved from his comfortable flat in the hotel to their housing, which consisted of just tents and shacks! Their place was far from as nice as what he had been used to, but he wanted to be with them because there, he had found real friends. This was a turning point in my life. I have not been to Israel again. And I refuse to go there until it is Palestine. But I have been able to visit, live and study various Muslim countries. At forty, after raising four sons, I finished my studies, my baccalaureate, so I would be able to go to university. I wanted to study Middle East studies and Islam. Before I went to Denmark to study at Copenhagen University, I tried very hard here in Iceland to find any book about these issues. But I did not succeed. No Qur'ân, nothing at all. But when I had my birthday, I was asked what I wanted for a present. I answered: the Qur'ân. It was nearly impossible to find. But finally an antique bookshop found it for me so the next step was to start to read. This was the year 1989. I had got The Book. This was the greatest gift I have ever received. In 1991, I went to Copenhagen and everyone said that I was crazy. What was a woman over forty doing, leaving her home to study Arabic and Islam? And still today I hear this! Some of my friends left me because of this. Not because I was trying to tell them about Islam, but because I was not normal in their minds. But nothing could stop me. After two years studying in Denmark, I went to Cairo, to learn better Arabic and to study Islam. I was very lucky to find a professor from the Al-Azhar University. Starting in 1993, he taught me all about the Qur'ân, from the beginning to the end. Soon after we began, I told him that I wanted to change my religion and he always said, you don't need to do that because we have enough Muslims. After nearly two years of study, he suddenly asked me if I still wanted to convert. I said yes, I did. He then said I was ready. In fact, I was already a Muslim. He found time in the Al-Azhar University and I became Muslim on 30 January 1995. It was, and still remains, the happiest day in my life. Only Muslims know this feeling. Then I returned to Iceland, where the situation today is not at all as it should be. Over the last ten years, many Muslims have moved to Iceland and live here today with a family. Many have married Icelandic women, who in some cases have become Muslims. They are often not Arabic speaking, so the children have problems with the Arabic language. I see this is very sad, because the basis of their religion, Islam, is in Arabic: the Qur'ân. I believe there should be free education available for these children and even their parents. Of course, there should also be teaching in the Qur'ân and in Islam. I also miss the possibility of listening to a teacher explain the Qur'ân and the Hadith. If we live in an Arabic country, we can turn on the television, go to the mosque, or go to any cultural centre, ask questions, get answers, and learn. We need a teacher, an Imam, or an Imama. I want to mention the Icelandic people. They are open about things that they already know, but when it comes to things like Islam, I find them in fear. They know Islam is a religion and the God is called Allah, but they believe Allah is another God, a Muslim God. And they know the men can marry four wives. That's about it. The fear is clear when they meet somebody like me. When I say that I am a Muslim, they ask me if I am in the Osama Bin Laden group. They ask me how, as a woman, I can dream of having this religion where women have no rights, and no power. But the saddest thing is that they don't want to listen or hear anything, because all
Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Minarets 'don't fit' with cow bells, horns - from NZHerald
The New Zealand Herald: Minarets 'don't fit' with cow bells, horns 5:00AM Monday May 28, 2007 By Catherine Field A view of the minaret of the mosque at the Islamic Cultural Foundation in Geneva. Photo / Reuters PARIS - Think Alpine horns, cowbells, snow-capped mountains and no minarets, that's how Swiss right-wingers want their country's landscape to look. And they want it codified by referendum. It is a proposal that is stirring fierce debate about the country's reputation for tolerance as well as concern about potential Muslim backlash abroad, similar to the outrage triggered by cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in Denmark. PARIS - Think Alpine horns, cowbells, snow-capped mountains and no minarets, that's how Swiss right-wingers want their country's landscape to look. And they want it codified by referendum. It is a proposal that is stirring fierce debate about the country's reputation for tolerance as well as concern about potential Muslim backlash abroad, similar to the outrage triggered by cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in Denmark. Those behind the initiative include 35 politicians in the country's biggest political party, the Swiss Peoples Party (SVP), which has two ministers in the coalition Government and 55 of the 200 seats in the National Council, the larger of the two chambers in the Swiss Parliament. They argue that minarets, slender towers topped with a crescent that are attached to mosques, are a symbol of Islamist circles seeking to widen their influence in Switzerland and, supposedly, impose Islamic law. The minaret, they say, poses a risk to community relations. They say they do not oppose mosques or Muslims' rights to worship. Instead, they argue, minarets fall under article 72 of the Swiss constitution, which allows the authorities to take measures to maintain peace among different faiths. The minaret has nothing to do with religion, says SVP legislator Ulrich Schluer, who is president of the referendum campaign committee. It's not mentioned in the Koran or other important Islamic texts. It just symbolises a place where Islamic law is established. In order to force the referendum, the campaign has to muster 100,000 signatures by November 2008. The Swiss have a long history of referendums, some of them touching on constitutional issues but others dealing with relatively minor issues. This move, though, has touched a painful nerve. While Switzerland is proud of its long tradition as a place of tolerance and a refuge for the persecuted, it is also a deeply conservative country where many fear the national identity is at threat from immigration, for foreigners now account for more than a fifth of the population of 7.5 million. And, as in other European countries, 9/11 has bred religious tensions. Representatives of the Muslim community are stunned by the referendum idea. As an organisation that is helping Muslims to integrate and become model citizens, we are shocked by this initiative, says Adel Mejri, president of the League of Swiss Muslims. Mejri said the initiative was absurd, because Swiss Muslims did not even consider minarets to be a priority. Only two out of more than 140 mosques in Switzerland have a minaret, one in Geneva, the other in Zurich, and neither is used to make the traditional loudspeaker call to prayer. In two cantons, Solothurn and Bern, plans to build a minaret were opposed, but because of construction regulations. Mejri noted a report last September by the Federal Commission against Racism, which found Swiss Muslims faced widespread discrimination. This, he contended, could be worsened by the minarets affair. We can find solutions through dialogue, but the aggressive, or dare I say 'Islamophobic', way in which this is being treated could have unforeseen consequences. This kind of initiative threatens peace and hurts Muslims, he told the agency swissinfo. Opponents of the referendum scheme brand it a propaganda stunt with an eye on parliamentary elections in October, while others fear that, like the Prophet Mohammed cartoons, it could balloon into a source of hatred of Switzerland and the Swiss in Muslim countries. Critics include Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey, who said it endangers the safety of Swiss interests and Swiss men and women. The country's Protestant and Roman Catholic churches have rallied behind Muslims, saying the constitutional right to religious freedom permits the building of minarets. Fondue pot * Switzerland has 310,000 Muslims, only 12 per cent of whom are Swiss citizens. * Many of them are immigrants from the Balkans and Turkey. * Foreigners now account for more than a fifth of the population of 7.5 million. * Only two out of more than 140 mosques in Switzerland have a minaret.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] 12 Principles of Islamic Unity - Action Items - Part 1
12 Principles of Islamic Unity - Action Items - Part 1 Source: http://www.usislam.org/islam/PrinciplesofIslamicUnity.htm 1. Definitions: Orders and Facts in the Quran The Quran, the authentic book of God, has many orders and facts. Allah gives orders to believers, such as (22:78) So Establish regular Prayer, give regular Charity, and hold fast to Allah! He is your Protector (3:103) And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves; Devout Muslims take orders from Allah very seriously. When they listen to an order from Allah, they say We hear, we obey (2:286) Allah States many facts in the Quran, such as: (21:92)Verily, this Ummah of yours is a single Ummah, and I am your Lord and Cherisher, therefore, Serve me (and no other). (23:52) And verily, this Ummah of yours is a single Ummah, and I am your Lord and Cherisher, therefore, Fear me (and no other). Devout Muslims appreciate and respect the facts of the Quran, and consider them as guidance in life. When verses are repeated in the Quran, they carry much importance and emphasis. The silent majority of Muslims believe in Unity of Muslim Ummah, but the chiefs are adamant about rejecting that for very obvious reasons. 2. Definition of Muslims The definition of a Muslim can be understood according to the hadeeth of Jibreel AKA, more popularly known as the Hadeeth Jibreel, as narrated by Umar Ibn Al Khattab, when Jibreel asked the Messenger of Allah about Islam, he answered Islam is that you witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and you establish the prayer, and you give the Zakat, and you fast Ramadan, and you perform the hajj of the House if you are able to take a way to it. All Muslims agree on principal matters in Islam. The Foundation of Islam is Shahadah as a declaration of faith. Muslims have one Quran, one Kaabah, and one last prophet. They accept all messengers in the Quran. They pray 5 times a day, fast Ramadan, pay Zakat, and perform Hajj when they can. There are 8 accepted Mazhab (school of thoughts) in Fiqh (jurisprudence). Every Muslim is free to accept a Mazhab. All Imams of accepted Mazhab never rejected other Mazhab. Allah made the Quran and Islam simple, but some people exert much effort to make them hard and confusing. Source: http://www.usislam.org/islam/PrinciplesofIslamicUnity.htm - Boardwalk for $500? Boycott Israel [IslamCity] HIJAB : A Study of Surah an-Nur, Ayah 31
HIJAB A Study of Surah an-Nur, Ayah 31 What is the meaning of Surah an-Nur ayah 31? What does what is apparent of it refer to? What type of garment is the khimar? What is the woman's jayb? Al-Muhajabah, a European-American convert to Islam examines the hijab question. What is the meaning of Surah an-Nur ayah 31? Forward By : http://www.shariqkhan.page.tl The Arabic text of this ayah is: Wa qul li al-mu'minat yaghdudna min absarihinna wa yahfazna furujahunna wa laa yubdina zenatahunna illa maa zahara min haa wal-yadribna bi khumurihinna ala juyubihinna; wa laa yubdina zenatahunna illa li bu'ulatihinna aw aba'ihinna aw aba'i bu'ulatihinna aw abna'ihinna aw abna'i bu'ulatihinna aw ikhwanihinna aw bani ikhwanihinna aw bani akhawatihinna aw nisa'ihinna aw maa malakat aymanu hunna aw at-tabi'ina ghayri ulu'l-irbat min ar-rijal aw at-tifl alladhina lam yazharu ala awrat an-nisa wa laa yadribna bi arjulihinna li yu'lama maa yukhfina min zenatahinna. Wa tubu ilaAllahi jami'an, ayyuha al-mu'minun la'allakum tuflihun A translation of this is: And say to the faithful women to lower their gazes, and to guard their private parts, and not to display their adornment except what is apparent of it, and to extend their headcoverings (khimars) to cover their bosoms (jaybs), and not to display their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their womenfolk, or what their right hands rule (slaves), or the followers from the men who do not feel sexual desire, or the small children to whom the nakedness of women is not apparent, and not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments. And turn in repentance to God together, O you the faithful, in order that you are successful As we can see, this ayah contains six commands for the Muslim sister, which I will list briefly, inshallah. 1) Lower the gaze. 2) Guard the private parts. 3) Not display the adornment except what is apparent of it. 4) Draw the khimar to cover the jayb. 5) Not display the adornment except to the people listed in the ayah. 6) Not stamp the feet so as to give knowledge of hidden adornment. Three of these commands relate to behavior, which are lowering the gaze, guarding the private parts, and not stamping the feet. The other three relate to dress. It can also be noted that commands 3 and 5 are actually parts of the same command. Thus there are two basic rules for the dress of the Muslim sister: A) Not display the adornment except what is apparent of it except to the people listed in the ayah. B) Draw the khimar to cover the jayb. There are three things that need to be explained in this: 1) What does what is apparent of it refer to? 2) What type of garment is the khimar? 3) What is the woman's jayb? Inshallah, I will deal with each of these questions in turn. What does what is apparent of it refer to? There is a difference of opinion on this, and was even among the Sahaba (rAa). The opinion of Abdullah ibn Masud (rAa) is that what is apparent of it refers to the outer surface of the woman's garments. This would not permit any of her body to be seen whatsoever (uncovering one or both eyes is a concession to necessity). The other opinion is that what is apparent of it refers to the face and hands and/or to the decorations that are worn on the face and the hands. This is the opinion of Aisha Umm al-Muminin (rAa), Anas ibn Malik (rAa), Abdullah ibn Abbas (rAa), and Miswar ibn Makhrama (rAa) - these are all Sahaba - and also of Ata (rAa), Qatada (rAa), Sa'id ibn Jubayr (rAa), Mujahid (rAa), al-Dahhak (rAa), and al-Hasan (rAa) - these are all Tabi'un (rAa). Almost every tafsir (commentary on the Quran) will include some if not all of these authorities for this opinion. Among the commentators themselves, some of the most respected have followed the face and hands opinion. Among these are Imam Tabari, Imam Zamakhshari, Imam Fakhr ad-Din Razi, and Imam Qurtubi. Here is what they have written in their own words. Imam Abu Jafar Tabari The strongest and most accurate view is that which says that the exemption refers to the face and the hands. Also included are kohl, rings, bracelets, and makeup. We say that this is the strongest and most accurate opinion because all scholars are unanimous that everyone who needs to pray must cover the awra in his or her salat. A woman may reveal the face and the hands in her salat, while she must cover the rest of her body. What is not awra is not haram to be revealed from his tafsir of Surah an-Nur ayah 31, this is in Volume 18, pages 118-119 of Jami Bayan Ta'wil al-Qur'an Imam Abu'l-Qasim Zamakhshari Why is the woman permitted to display 'what is apparent of it'? Because to conceal that would cause her

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Syed Abul Ala Maududi [May Allah have mercy on his soul]
*Syed Abul Ala Maududi **[May Allah have mercy on his soul]* *By Prof. Anis Ahmad, Ph.D.* The roots of Islamic reawakening in the twentieth century are often traced in the Muslim response to the western colonialism in Asia and Africa. While it may be one contributory factor in the case of a few Muslim countries, a global Islamic reassertion, we notice as a phenomenon even in countries, which were not colonialized by the western imperialists. This calls for search of more important reasons other than the often-repeated reactionary thesis. The interpretation of Islamic reawakening as a reaction to the European colonialism though, recognizes Islamic reawakening as historical reality, at the same time marginalizes the existence of Islamic reawakening in its own rights. A serious study of the Islamic sources, the Qur'an and the sunnah will show that Islam as the way of life and a total system has an innate tendency to activate and reinvigorate from within, the process of Islamic re-assertion. The dynamic principle responsible for these phenomena is mentioned in the prophetic hadith as ijtihad (systematic and innovative thinking). Whenever the Muslim ummah faced periods of depression, and decline it was with the help of ijtihad or sometimes jihad that a new life in the ummah was infused. Indeed Nineteenth Century was a pend of political, economic, and intellectual decline in the ummah. Nevertheless, we cannot think of a century in which at least a few towering Islamic personalities did not emerge to lead the ummah out of its temporary crisis with the help of ijtihad. The crisis the ummah faced in the 20th century was encountered in a profound manner by the great exegete Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi (1903-1979). He pioneered a movement ijtihad at the level of thought and institution building and offered an ideological alternative to the modern world. Aware of the impact of ideological challenges of the Capitalist, Marxist and Fascists ideologies of the 19th century Europe, Sayyid Maududi encountered the challenge at three different levels. First one was at the level of ideology. The capitalists and Marxist ideologies, claim to have ultimate answer to the man's economic, social and political problems. The rise of Europe as a political power was also interpreted as its ideological supremacy on the other systems. Nevertheless the capitalist and the Marxists ideologies within the Twentieth Century saw this failure in realizing their utopian heaven on earth. First important contribution of Sayyid Maududi relates with his articulation of the Islamic vision of a society, economy, and state. While offering a critique of the European ideologies Sayyid Maududi, also offered at a positive level an alternative Islamic ideological framework. Meeting the challenges of modernity, perhaps no other Muslim intellectual in the 19th and 20th century offered such elaborate ideas on political, economic and social dimensions of Islam as we find its in the writings of Sayyid Maududi. Sayyid Maududi apparently holds the views that western ideologies can only be defeated at an intellectual level. This is why with a deep understanding and first hand knowledge of the Capitalists, Socialists and Fascists ideologies, he highlighted Islamic system of thought in his remarkable works entitles Sud (usury or interest), Islamic civilization it genesis and principles, Tafhimat, al-Jihad fi allslam and Tanqihat. While understanding the applied aspects of Islamic political, economics and social system, he offers a critical evaluation of the Capitalists and Socialists Ideologies. In order to introduce and elaborate on the basic Qur'anic concepts he produced a monumental exegesis of Qur'an entitled Tafhimul Qur'an while further elaboration was done on certain basic Qur'anic themes in his books Four Basic Terms of the Qur'an and Islamic Ibadat par aik Tehqiqi Nazr. The purpose of his Tafseer of the Qur'an is not to go in academic and historical discussions but to use historical background and contextual analysis for discovering relevance of the Qur'anic instructions with contemporary situation. The ideological contribution made by Sayyid Maududi appears to be one of the major factors behind the global Islamic reawakening. While he produced his work essentially in Urdu his ideas wee translated into Arabic, Persian, Turkish, english, French and German languages within first two decades of his establishing the movement for Islamic revival in the Pakistan sub-continent. By late 1950s he was already an internationally known spokes person for Islam as the ideology of future. It was due to his clarity of thought and systematic approach in presenting Islamic system that young intellectuals in Sudan, Iran, Middle East with their given situations. The second major contribution made by him was launching of a movement for Ishah in the sub-continent Pakistan. With an humble beginning in 1941 the movement soon spread all over the sub continent and was able to

God Bless America. GWB In Search of Islamic Fascists Part 1: Entering Syria By Alexander Gainem Freelance journalist - Canada http://www.islamonline.net/servlet/Satellite?c=Article_Ccid=1158658479977pagename=Zone-English-Muslim_Affairs%2FMAELayout#**1 In this four-part series, Alexander Gainem embarks on a special mission to Syria one of George W. Bush's primary Axis of Evil states where he begins his search of the American president's proclaimed Islamic fascists. Gainem describes in detail his encounters with Syrians the primary suspects. Every few years, the Bush administration comes out with puzzling phrases and monikers to label issues it believes the world must take note of. For example, there is Rumsfeld's dead-enders quip. Is someone dead when he reaches the end (of what, we don't know) or is death the end? How do you apply to become a member of the dead-ender society? Then we had the ethically flawed campaign trail diatribe of war on terror. War is terror, so does this mean this is a war on war? Or terror to outflank terror? But the best had to be Bush's latest brainstorm in calling all his enemies in the Arab and Muslim world Islamic fascists. Just what on earth is that? Fascism and Islam, or even radical Islam? By their very definitions these two terms are at odds with one another. OK, George, maybe someone forgot to explain the difference to you, like the time you didn't know there was a difference between Shiites and Sunnis on the eve of the Iraq War. I decided to play the devil's advocate and wanted to see where these Islamic fascists could be hiding. Because Bush had used that term in reference to the recent war on Lebanon, I decided to head to Syria. After all, Bush and Condi were falling over each other, competing for who could say Syria, Iran, Lebanon, and terrorism the most in the same breath. Islamic fascists, here I come. No Beheadings? I arrived in Damascus International Airport rather late one night a few weeks ago and as I headed to baggage claim, I saw a kiosk for Syriatel, one of the local mobile phone providers. I couldn't believe it. I mean this was like a sign that Syria was in the wireless communications age and they had two competing networks to boot. OK, but that didn't prepare me for what came next. A woman, yes, an actual young woman was behind the counter, and she wasn't veiled, wasn't put on a leash, and had no burka or chador in sight. But how could that be? I mean, didn't Islamic fascists imprison women and beat them and cut their hair and do all sorts of monstrous torture? I was so afraid she would be beheaded for daring to be a woman. I mean, that is what Bush told the world Islamic fascists do wait, that is also what the first lady Laura Bush told us in her numerous radio addresses on women in the Muslim World. Hmmm haven't heard from Laura in a while. Guess the kids are keeping her busy. I shook as I asked the young woman for a chip for my phone. She looked up at me, her eyes confident and green, her face masked in make-up, her countenance rather cheerful and somewhat attractive. Maybe she was wearing a prosthetic guise, and the Islamic fascist was hiding underneath. I wanted to ask her if she really was a woman. Yes, um I want a temporary phone line for visitors I couldn't control my shaking. It was embarrassing but maybe she would chalk it up to constant-flier fatigue. Of course, sir, she replied, displaying her pearly white teeth. Her smile unhinged me from my nervousness. I mean come on; they're all Islamic fascists, right? Maybe she was going to kill me or something. Instead, she was extremely hospitable, very cheerful, and genuinely interested in helping me. I got my phone card and my bag, and was zipping out of the airport in a taxi, headed for the ancient city of Damascus. No Turbans? The cab driver was rather an ox. I mean, he was huge, his stomach must have swallowed many a WMD in his time. I felt I needed to get on a soapbox to get on just to see if there was a turban on his head. Nope, no turban. Maybe this was his night job and he used his turban during the day when all the Islamic fascists came out to play and pray. How long have you driven a taxi? I asked him rather suddenly. He looked at me surprised, perhaps thinking the alien can speak after all. He said he drove a taxi for six years as it provided him with better income than his agriculture-related job. Apparently, he had an agriculture degree from one of the local universities. I wondered why

Assalamo alaikum , Wa rehmatullahi wa barakatu; Dear Brother in Islam: If more people with patience, knowledge and understanding do small and simple things like replying to questions on Yahoo or commenting and sharing their experiences on the various news sites, I feel more non-Muslim people will have a chance to really know what Islam is and learn that it is not a terrorists filled cult that hates westerners. As the old saying goes: The pen is mightier than the sword. In our case it is the keyboard! May ALLAH (SWT) reward your efforts and grant you peace. I live in Lahore Pakistan . By profession I am computer engineer and graphic designer. There is a site answers.yahoo. com. There are many sections in this site. The religion and spirituality section is lying under humanity and culture. Non-muslims are attacking the beliefs of Islam on this portal. It is just a type of rebuttal amongst the religions of the world. They yahoo is making permanent record of best answers. Now see what happens. They criticize Islam and try to deface it in questions. When other people answers these questions with blasphemy and transgression, the questioner choose most worst answer and label it as best answer. That misinterpretation through question and answer becomes permanent record of this site. When any body ask that type of question the misinterpreted answer about Islam comes as a result. I have been researching Christianity (because most of them are Christians) and have been putting falsification tests on fabrications/ interpolations in bible and succeeded to unveil their corruption in bible. I also tried to jeopardize their false beliefs like crucifixion, trinity, savior, apocrypha etc. In short, I am making permanent record of their falsehoods on net. They have derived me out from this portal 4 times and now I am doing there with the name of Punter with login name qalandar25. During these rebuttals some non-believers contact me and ask me privately questions about Islam and I do dawah with these people. I have motivated people to read Quran. I have made word document file in which I compiled the questions for them as well as answers to convince about the truth of Islam. Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Colin Powell speaking June 3 Hamilton for Jewish National Fund committee
Dinner with Colin Powell isn't cheap By Sharon Boase The Hamilton Spectator (May 26, 2007) Former U.S. General Colin Powell will pay a visit to Steeltown next week and $36,000 will get you and nine friends a table at the exclusive event. Well, two weeks ago it would have. But the appeal of the one-time secretary of state and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff means all 1,200 tickets were snapped up in no time. Several dozen names are already on a waiting list. While individual ticket prices for the annual Negev Dinner have held steady for the event at $180 a pop, organizers decided to double corporate table prices to take advantage of their high-profile keynote speaker. The local Jewish National Fund (JNF) committee booked Powell after he appeared at a dinner hosted by the organization's Montreal chapter last year that did very, very well, said Frank Simkevitz, executive director of the Ontario region of the JNF. In the past, corporate tables at the dinner have gone for $5,000 to $18,000. Nevertheless, it typically raises something in the six figures, he said. This year, corporate tables ran from $10,000 to $36,000. A dozen corporate tables were sold, including two for $36,000 a piece, said Simkevitz. A lot of the people who come to the dinner are average people in this community, he added. Guests dressed in business attire -- not black tie -- will dine on a normal event dinner, of kosher chicken. Powell is rumoured to earn between $100,000 and $200,000 per speaking engagement. Not as much as former president Bill Clinton who gets between $100,000 to $400,000 per speech. Tickets to hear Clinton in Hamilton last month went for $175-$200 -- without dinner. This year, the Negev Dinner will honour Hamilton business leader Tom Weisz and his wife, Sasha, a prolific volunteer. The project they've chosen to support with the proceeds from this year's event is the repair and development of the Biriyya forest. The 2,000-hectare forest, heavily damaged by rocket fire last summer, is a recreational and financial centrepiece of northern Israel. Boycott Israel [IslamCity] 'Wiped off the Map' The Rumor of the Century
'Wiped off the Map' The Rumor of the Century Across the world, a dangerous rumor has spread that could have catastrophic implications. According to legend, Iran's president has threatened to destroy Israel, or, to quote the misquote, Israel must be wiped off the map. Contrary to popular belief, this statement was never made. On Tuesday, October 25th, 2005 at the Ministry of Interior conference hall in Tehran, newly elected Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad delivered a speech at a program, reportedly attended by thousands, titled The World Without Zionism. Large posters surrounding him displayed this title prominently in English, obviously for the benefit of the international press. Below the poster's title was a slick graphic depicting an hour glass containing planet Earth at its top. Two small round orbs representing the United States and Israel are shown falling through the hour glass' narrow neck and crashing to the bottom. Before we get to the infamous remark, it's important to note that the quote in question was itself a quote they are the words of the late Ayatollah Khomenei, the father of the Islamic Revolution. Although he quoted Khomeini to affirm his own position on Zionism, the actual words belong to Khomeini and not Ahmadinejad. Thus, Ahmadinejad has essentially been credited (or blamed) for a quote that is not only unoriginal, but represents a viewpoint already in place well before he ever took office. The Actual Quote: So what did Ahmadinejad actually say? To quote his exact words in Farsi: Imam ghoft een rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods bayad az safheh-ye ruzgar mahv shavad. That passage will mean nothing to most people, but one word might ring a bell: rezhim-e. It is the word regime. pronounced just like the English word with an extra eh sound at the end. Ahmadinejad did not refer to Israel the country or Israel the land mass, but the Israeli regime. This is a vastly significant distinction, as one cannot wipe a regime off the map. Ahmadinejad does not even refer to Israel by name, he instead uses the specific phrase rezhim-e ishghalgar-e qods (regime occupying Jerusalem). So this raises the question.. what exactly did he want wiped from the map? The answer is: nothing. That's because the word map was never used. The Persian word for map, nagsheh is not contained anywhere in his original Farsi quote, or, for that matter, anywhere in his entire speech. Nor was the western phrase wipe out ever said. Yet we are led to believe that Iran's president threatened to wipe Israel off the map. despite never having uttered the words map. wipe out or even Israel. The Proof: The full quote translated directly to English: The Imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time. Word by word translation: Imam (Khomeini) ghoft (said) een (this) rezhim-e (regime) ishghalgar-e (occupying) qods (Jerusalem) bayad (must) az safheh-ye ruzgar (from page of time) mahv shavad (vanish from). Here is the full transcript of the speech in Farsi, archived on Ahmadinejad's web site The Speech and Context: While the false wiped off the map extract has been repeated infinitely without verification, Ahmadinejad's actual speech itself has been almost entirely ignored. Given the importance placed on the map comment, it would be sensible to present his words in their full context to get a fuller understanding of his position. In fact, by looking at the entire speech, there is a clear, logical trajectory leading up to his call for a world without Zionism. One may disagree with his reasoning, but critical appraisals are infeasible without first knowing what that reasoning is. In his speech, Ahmadinejad declares that Zionism is the West's apparatus of political oppression against Muslims. He says the Zionist regime was imposed on the Islamic world as a strategic bridgehead to ensure domination of the region and its assets. Palestine, he insists, is the frontline of the Islamic world's struggle with American hegemony, and its fate will have repercussions for the entire Middle East. Ahmadinejad acknowledges that the removal of America's powerful grip on the region via the Zionists may seem unimaginable to some, but reminds the audience that, as Khomeini predicted, other seemingly invincible empires have disappeared and now only exist in history books. He then proceeds to list three such regimes that have collapsed, crumbled or vanished, all within the last 30 years: (1) The Shah of Iran the U.S. installed monarch (2) The Soviet Union (3) Iran's former arch-enemy, Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein In the first and third examples, Ahmadinejad prefaces their mention with Khomeini's own words foretelling that individual regime's demise. He concludes by referring to Khomeini's unfulfilled wish: The Imam said this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time. This
Boycott Israel [IslamCity] World laughing at US: Mahathir
World laughing at US: Mahathir - Greg Sheridan, Foreign editor - December 30, 2006 THE US has become an international laughing stock because of Iraq, and Australia is suffering for its relationship with America, former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has said. America has lost, he said yesterday. It used to be a world power. It is no longer a world power. In an exclusive interview with The Weekend Australian in his office near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's longest-serving prime minister said: The whole world is laughing at America, at the stupidity of the decisions they made and at the refusal to recognise the situation. He described US President George W.Bush as being in total self-denial. Dr Mahathir also said Australia suffered from its close association with Mr Bush's policies. He criticised Australia for having a mentality that was too European, always telling people how to behave and what was right and wrong. Dr Mahathir accused the Bush administration of having only a shallow knowledge of the Middle East and hypocrisy about Middle Eastern democracy. In Palestine, because they didn't like Hamas, because Hamas won, they didn't want to recognise them, thus negating the whole idea of democracy. Dr Mahathir retired as prime minister in 2003 having served 22 years in office and overseen sustained economic growth in Malaysia. However, his later years in office were marked by increasingly sharp criticism of Washington and Australia. He had celebrated run-ins with three Australian prime ministers: Bob Hawke, over the Malaysian decision to execute two convicted Australian drug traffickers; Paul Keating, over APEC and the nature of Asian regionalism; and John Howard, over the question of whether Australia was the US's deputy sheriff in Asia. == I have always liked this guy. -- -- -- G.
