Assalaamu 'alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh, I'm sorry to say but that site is a load of rubbish! It should be deleted and gotten rid of as it is nothing more than a site dedicated at spreading fitnah, without giving the other party or personality any way of defending themselves. It is a site dedicated as slandering people, and that itself is worse than gheeybah. May Allah subhaanahu wa ta'ala guide the brothers/sisters who are involved in such filth to come to their senses. I don't think that our beloved Nabiy sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam would have approved of such methods - show me one 'alim ul Haqq who would agree to posting a site such as this rubbish? It does nothing but divides the Ummah into a million different sects (not 73!). May Allah help us All to spend our times learning our Deen from proper sources and stop being involved in the affairs of other people - when we ourselves are in the filth if we are also absorbed in learning about the so called 'deviations' of others - a sense of self-righteousness and nothing more! You obviously should know how murky can media REPORTS get. I am a witness to the argument provided by Zakir Naik on Sania Mirza and never once did he even imply that her short attire could be ignored. Infact he quite clearly said that it was wrong. Abumaryam Mohammad Shafi Aga@yahoo.com wrote: In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful Assalaamu alaykum, In a news item, sometime back, Dr Zakir Naik, the renowned Islamic scholar, is reported to have said, Everyone has different levels of modesty. There were tennis players who wore long skirt! s and performed just as well. But personally, I support Sania Mirza as she prays five times a day, so the skirts she wears can be ignored. I admire the Doctor and often listen to his speeches. But that should not mean that everything he says is sacrosanct. He is human after all, and prone to errors. Let us therefore examine his reported quote in Qur'aanic light and see whether it is in conformity with the divine guidance. For, the Qur'aan calls those who do not judge by what Allah has revealed as suppressors of Truth, oppressors and transgressors [refer Verses 5.44, 5.45 and 5.47]. Allah has indeed given mankind the freedom, in this life, not to go by the way laid down in the Qur'aan. By giving the freedom, Allah is only testing mankind. So is Sania Mirza being tested. If she fails the test, the responsibility for the consequences is entirely hers. But the matter of punishing her, for any breach of the divinely laid down dress code, lies with Allah. Since she comes from a country, and goes to such countries to play tennis, which have nothing against her dress in their penal codes, Muslims can do nothing legal to prevent her from wearing her short dress. Nevertheless, since Sania Mirza has gained fame and wealth, she has become an icon, and her actions are liable to be copied by others. Other Muslim girls may think, if Sania Mirza can do it, why not they? Muslim scholars are therefore duty-bound to examine her actions, and publicly condemn them if they are against divine stipulations. Verse 24.31 clearly lays down that a woman should so cover her body as not to display its charm in public. She is moreover asked, in that Verse, not to stamp her feet so as to reveal her hidden charm. As anyone can see, Sania Mirza, playing in full public glare with her short body-clinging dress, is clearly contravening those divine stipulations. Muslim scholars a! re duty-bound to bring this fact to the notice of all Muslims the world over, although they are in no position to prevent her from continuing to play thus.

He said to them: if you know what I know you should laugh very little and weep a lot. The Jibrael came to him and said: Allah says to you: Do not make my slaves feel desparate (from my mercy). Then the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) came back and said to us: Be hopeful, be happy. (The chain of narrators is sound and narrated by Ibn Hiban.) Bismillah [IslamCity] Why is the Peace Movement Silent About AIPAC
*April 17, 2007* *Capuano and Kucinich Come Clean About the Lobby* *Why is the Peace Movement Silent About AIPAC?*** *By JOHN WALSH* *http://www.counterpunch.org/walsh04172007.html* AIPAC! was the forceful one-word answer of Congressman Michael Capuano when we asked him, Why was the Iran clause forbidding war on Iran without Congressional approval taken out of the recent supplemental for the Iraq war funding? I nearly fell out of my chair at his reply - not because this was news but because of who had just said it. Capuano is a close ally of Nancy Pelosi, her fixer and enforcer. That was last Friday morning when a small delegation from Cambridge and Somerville, MA, were visiting the Congressman, known for his bluntness, as part of the nationwide UFPJ (United For Peace and Justice) home lobbying effort during the Congressional recess. *Later that day, Dennis Kucinich made an appearance at Harvard, where he was asked the same question, the reason for removing the **Iran** provision. AIPAC, I volunteered out loud. Kucinich looked my way and said, Exactly. Again my chair almost failed to contain me.* *A few weeks earlier we had gone to the offices of Senators Kennedy and then Kerry to discuss the war. (My intention was to call their attention to www.FilibusterForPeace.org http://www.filibusterforpeace.org/ to which the Kennedy aide was sympathetic and the Kerry aide predictably hostile.) I raised the question of AIPAC directly with Kerry**'**s aide, inquiring about its hawkish influence on Kerry and other Senators. Suddenly the aide was quite engaged. Leaning forward, he said: That will never be discussed publicly. That will never be discussed publicly. Clearly even Kerry**'**s office is unhappy with the pressure that comes from AIPAC. * It is widely acknowledged that the reps and senators are ticked at AIPAC, and their hostility seems to be growing these days. With upwards of 60% of their campaign contributions coming directly or indirectly from the Israel Lobby, the Democratic congressmen are not free to respond to their antiwar base. This opens them to an antiwar electoral challenge on the Left or Right from forces not subservient to AIPAC. And that could cost them their next election, a little thing which has them very worked up. Capuano's cry of AIPAC was no simple outburst of candor but a *cri de coeur** *for his career. *So here we have even Congressmen and Senator**'**s aides complaining publicly about AIPAC. AIPAC is being outed all over the mainstream media, largely thanks to the door opening work of Mearsheimer and Walt. AIPAC is skewered routinely by Justin Raimondo on Antiwar.com and by Alex Cockburn and many others here on CounterPunch. But there remains no anti-AIPAC campaign within the mainstream antiwar organizations, like UFPJ or Peace Action. (Even one supposed Congressional ally of the peace movement was announced as a celebrity guest at the recent colossal AIPAC meeting in Washington, where half the Congress shows up and Dick Cheney is a regular speaker. What gives?) * *I have been told by leaders of the peace movement that AIPAC is a distraction from the main thrust of the antiwar movement. And so we should not engage it; AIPAC is to be immune. But with all due respect to the sentiments of that leadership, immunity for AIPAC is a prescription for disaster. To use a military analogy, which I do not especially like, suppose that we were trying to take a hill in **Germany** in 1944. And suppose we said that we would not attack one pillbox, which kept devastating our forces. Leave just that one pillbox alone! The result would be devastating; we would be cut down with every succeeding attempt at advance. So it is with AIPAC which campaigns relentlessly for war on Iraq, war on Iran, war on Syria, war on Lebanon and the slow genocide of the Palestinian people. AIPAC constantly puts the peace movement on the defensive while it is free to be on the offensive all the time. * *AIPAC is not just an issue for Jewish Americans or the Jewish wing of the peace movement like Jewish Voice for Peace; it is a major force, although not the only one, driving the **U.S.** to wars in the **Middle East**. AIPAC is no less a force for war than is the Republican National Committee. In fact it is worse, because it sinks its teeth into the foreign policy establishment of both parties, perhaps the Dems more so than the Republicans. If the peace movement is to be worth its salt, then it must take action against AIPAC. (It is marathon season here in **Boston** and my friend, Israeli expatriate Joshua Ashenberg, tells me that the foregoing thought harbors a logical error. As he says: A **'**movement**'** that does not work against AIPAC is NOT a peace movement by definition. It will not help if I call myself a marathon runner, while I never ran a marathon.)* *In the **Boston** area, AIPAC appears to be especially powerful, and so we have a special responsibility to take it on. At the recent AIPAC conference in
Bismillah [IslamCity] Seeing the Prophet (saws) in a Dream
*Seeing the Holy Prophet in Dream* *Adil Salahi, Arab News* *http://arabnews.com/?page=5section=0article=105516d=11m=1y=2008* We all see dreams during sleep. Some of us see many, and their dreams are vivid and colorful. When they wake up they are able to recount their dreams in full. Other people dream little and they are likely to forget their dreams the moment they wake up. There is no particular significance in either situation. It is all due to the make up of each person. *However, when we see a dream concerning someone who is important to us, or when the dream is related to something we hold dearly, we are likely to retain that dream in our memory, even if we belong to the second type of people who normally forget their dreams on waking up.* *Since we have been talking in this series of articles about the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his personality, it is pertinent to ask whether it is possible to see the Prophet in our dreams. The answer is that this is quite possible. In fact some of us see him several times in their lives. They are delighted with the fact, and some of them are ready to report their seeing the Prophet whenever an occasion arises.* *A dream involving seeing the Prophet is likely to have a profound effect on us. Even a person of the type who forgets their dreams on waking up will remember this dream because of the special position of the Prophet. A friend of mine once told me that he never remembers his dreams, even though he only occasionally sees a dream. Nevertheless, he saw the Prophet in a dream once, many years ago. Yet whenever he wants, he recalls this dream in all its vividness.* *This is not surprising, because the Prophet is held so dearly by all Muslims. They love him and cherish him. Their ultimate wish is to be close to him on the Day of Judgment. So, when he appears to them in a dream, they feel such closeness to him to be real. The Prophet has made it clear that such dreams in which he appears are true. Anas quotes the Prophet as saying: Whoever sees me in a dream has actually seen me. Satan cannot appear in my guise. He also said: Dreams by a believer count as one part of 46 parts of prophethood. (Related by Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, Al-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah).* *In this Hadith, the Prophet makes two points, and he repeats them in other ways. An authentic Hadith reported by Abu Qatadah quotes the Prophet as saying: Whoever sees me in a dream actually sees me in truth. (Related by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.) A different Hadith reported by Abu Hurayrah quotes the Prophet as saying: Whoever sees me in a dream will see me when awake. Satan cannot put on my appearance. (Related by Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah).* The first point the Prophet makes in all these Hadiths is that a dream in which he is seen by anyone is a true dream. This applies whether he is seen in his real form, which has been described by a number of his companions, or in a different form. There will always be a clear indication in the dream to inform the dreaming person that he is seeing the Prophet. Therefore, it is not necessary that the Prophet would appear to that person in his own figure and form. Anyway, most people do not know how exactly the Prophet looked. The Prophet's statement, 'whoever sees me in a dream will see me when awake, may be interpreted in two ways. It either relates to his contemporaries telling them that if they see the Prophet in their dreams, then they would be sure to see him in reality. If any such person lived far away from Madinah, he would be sure to visit it or see the Prophet in some other place. Alternatively, it may mean that such a person will inevitably see the Prophet on the Day of Judgment. This signifies that he or she will have nothing to fear on that day. Both interpretations may be correct, with the first one applying during the Prophet's lifetime and the second after he has passed away. Both add to the meaning that a dream in which the Prophet figures is a true dream and when any of us sees such a dream, he has truly seen the Prophet, even though the Prophet appears in that dream in a form and shape different from what he looked like in reality. *The second point is that Satan cannot put on a guise that makes him look like the Prophet, so that he could deceive people and divert them from the right path. In fact it is God who has willed that Satan cannot look like the Prophet, even in dreams. Otherwise, people would listen to Satan, thinking that they were taking orders from the Prophet. This God will not allow. Therefore, He has willed to deprive Satan of this ability so that he would never look like the Prophet, not even in people's dreams. Again this is a special blessing, because if we talk to the Prophet in a dream and he tells us something, whatever he tells us is correct. It does not constitute any new teachings, because the divine message he delivered is complete and nothing can be added to it. Yet the Prophet may give us
Bismillah [IslamCity] Forgotten champion of Islam: One man and his mosque
*Editor's Choice* *Forgotten champion of Islam: One man and his mosque* *A crumbling house in Liverpool conceals a curious secret: the vandalised remains of Britain's first mosque. Now, finally, the city is set to restore it - and to honour the eccentric lawyer who created it. Michael Savage discovers his remarkable story * ** *Published: 02 August 2007 * *The Independent* Number 8 Brougham Terrace in Liverpool is a derelict semi-detached house. Its whitewashed facade is filthy, its front door scratched and swollen and its rear gates are covered in graffiti. Pigeons have made the roof their home. The condition of the interior is even worse. Large, orange rings of dry-rot fungus cling to the walls. Pieces of the roof are scattered across the floor. There is little to suggest that No 8 Brougham Terrace is anything special. But underneath the dust and the mould is a building of extraordinary historical and social significance. This was Britain's first true mosque. And following years of neglect, it could finally be about to receive the restoration treatment that, given its place in the nation's history, it surely deserves. The Bishop of Liverpool has called for action. The Saudi and Kuwait governments are interested in helping to fund a project that would cost £2.4m. With Liverpool gearing up to be European Capital of Culture next year, the plight of the forgotten mosque is attracting attention again. That, in turn, has shed light on the astonishing character who founded it on Christmas Day 1889. William Quilliam was a solicitor. But in late 19th century Britain there was no other solicitor quite like him. He is said to have appeared in court wearing Turkish ceremonial dress. Others claim he travelled through Liverpool on a white Arab horse, or that he was descended from a first lieutenant who fought with Nelson at Trafalgar. Such stories may well be apocryphal, yet Quilliam was a man whose life needs no embellishing. Few religious figures have championed their faith the way the man who became Sheikh Abdullah Quilliam did. He did so despite often facing hostility from his own countrymen. He was made the Sheikh of Britain by the last Ottoman emperor, converted hundreds to his religion, and was honoured by the Sultan of Morocco, the Shah of Persia and the Sultan of Afghanistan. The mosque at 8 Brougham Terrace was his crowning achievement. Born in 1856, Quilliam was the son of a wealthy watchmaker, and became a solicitor after training at the Liverpool Institute. But life as a lawyer took its toll on Quilliam and in 1882 he travelled to the south of France to recover from stress. While he was recuperating, he decided to cross the Mediterranean to Morocco and Algeria and it was there that his fascination with Islam began. At the age of 31 he converted to the religion, changed his name to Abdullah and bought a marmoset as a pet. He never went anywhere without that monkey, said Quilliam's granddaughter, Patricia Gordon. It used to sit on his shoulder. He had a little fez made for it and would even take it to the British Museum when he was studying there. He was an old Victorian eccentric. He was his own man and he did what he wanted to do all his life. When he walked into a room, everyone would go quiet. He was a very colourful character. His love of exotic animals turned his home into a zoo - he reportedly kept a jackal, a wolf, a fox and even a crocodile. For Quilliam, his own conversion was just the start of his loud and proud association with Islam. He soon found he had the knack of convincing others of its merits. He first began holding lectures on his new religion and then founded the Liverpool Mosque and Institute in the small semi on Brougham Terrace, West Derby Street, in 1889. Within 10 years of his return to the city, he assembled a following of about 150 Muslims, almost entirely made up of British converts. Scientists and professionals were among Quilliam's group, along with his sons and his mother, who had spent most of her life as a Christian activist. He also produced two journals, The Crescent and The Islamic Review, on a printing press in the mosque's cellar. Both were circulated internationally. But Quilliam's misssion did not stop at publishing. He set out to help ease Liverpool's social ills, founding the Medina Home, which cared for illegitimate children and found them foster parents. He set up the Muslim College, a weekly debating society and also wrote a book of Muslim hymns in English. He still found time to write a book. The Faith of Islam was published in 1899 by a small local printer and was translated into 13 languages, with three editions published. Quilliam proudly said that it had been read by Queen Victoria and the ruler of Egypt. But not everyone appreciated Quilliam's vigour. Soon after he converted to Islam, he was evicted from his house by his landlord, who took exception to his rejection of Christianity. The timing of his book on Islam compounded the vitriolic hatred that

*Marriage Fear Teenager **'**Murdered**'*** * * *http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/merseyside/7182887.stm* * * *A teenage girl who feared a marriage was being arranged by her parents was the victim of a vile murder, a coroner has said. The decomposed body of Shafilea Ahmed, 17, was found on a riverbank in February 2004, six months after she went missing from her **Warrington** home. **South Cumbria**coroner Ian Smith ruled Shafilea had been unlawfully killed. * ** Shafilea's parents and five family members were arrested during the police inquiry but no charges were brought. After the inquest, Supt Geraint Jones, of Cheshire Police, said it remains a live murder inquiry. It will not be closed until the killer or killers have been brought to justice, he said. *Mr Smith said Shafilea was genuinely afraid, rightly or wrongly, that her parents were planning to arrange her marriage. Delivering the verdict at the inquest in Kendal, he said he was convinced Shafilea was murdered. The body had been hidden and she had been taken many miles away from home, he said. Mr Smith said he believed the concept of an arranged marriage for the Muslim teenager was central to the circumstances leading up to her death. * *Earlier in the week-long hearing, community and homelessness workers said the teenager had approached them for help to find accommodation or a place in a refuge in order to escape from her parents. She had claimed they were forcing her into an arranged marriage, the inquest heard. She also confided to her friends that her parents had beaten her and taken £2,000 from her bank account. * *The inquest heard how the teenager had previously run away from home and that on one occasion her father had turned up at her school and taken her home, forcing a teacher to call the police. Shafilea went missing on 11 September 2003 shortly after returning from a trip to Pakistan, where it was said she had drunk a quantity of bleach after meeting a possible suitor. * *'**Active case**'* *But it was a teacher at her school, **Great** **Sankey** **High School**, who reported her missing seven days later. Summing up, the coroner said Shafilea had died within a few hours of leaving work on the day she was last seen alive. He added he was very confident she was already dead before her body was dumped on the riverbank. * I do not believe she escaped and ran away. She was taken, Mr Smith said. Her body was found in February 2004, but police had to use dental records and jewellery to identify her. A medical expert told the inquest the schoolgirl had either been smothered or strangled. Police said the continuing investigation could take detectives to Pakistanfor further enquires. Supt Jones said: There is someone out there who knows what happened to Shafilea, and has not told us. Shafilea's parents, Iftikhar and Farzana, were arrested on suspicion of kidnap and five relatives from Bradford were also arrested. In his summing up at the inquest, Mr Smith said: I sincerely hope in the future inquiries will be carried out by the police and they will one day discover who did it. The parents left the inquest without making a comment. *Father Denies Forced Wedding Plot* * * *http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/merseyside/7180963.stm* * * *The father of a teenager whose body was found on a riverbank five months after she disappeared has denied trying to force her into marriage.* The decomposed body of Shafilea Ahmed, 17, of Liverpool Road, Warrington, was found on a Cumbrian riverbank in 2004. At an inquest in Kendal, her father, Ifitkar, said he had not sent her to Pakistan to marry nor had he stolen her money or beaten her. *While in **Pakistan** she drank bleach after meeting a possible suitor. **Mr Ahmed admitted that before leaving for Pakistan his uncle had asked if Miss Ahmed would marry his son, Rafaqat. But he claimed that when the same question was put to his daughter when they arrived, he accepted her no way answer. Taxi driver, Mr Ahmed, added: I always ask to my kids: **'**Whatever you decide to do with your lives I**'**m fully behind you**'**. * The inquest has already heard how Miss Ahmed confided in community and homelessness workers that she was being beaten and robbed by her father and mother, Farzana. She also claimed that they were forcing her into marriage. Mr Ahmed, 48, said: There's no question of her being married. There's no potential suitor. I've never discussed the marriage question between me and the daughter. That discussion has never taken place. Where she's heard it from I don't know. Mr Ahmed, a taxi driver, also denied claims made in evidence at the hearing by Miss Ahmed's friends that he and his wife beat her and stole her savings. Medical experts told the inquest the teenager was either smothered or strangled. The girl's father and mother are both being questioned as part of the hearing by a solicitor representing Cumbria Coroner's Court and Cheshire Police. Cheshire

Ruhul Amin addressing an International Seminar on 'Islamic Law and its application in the contemporary Society' at BIAM Foundation auditorium yesterday. NN photo Staff Reporter Chief Justice Md Ruhul Amin told an international seminar in Dhaka yesterday that the curses of corruption and terrorism that afflict societies can be effectively curbed through the application of Islamic legal framework. Addressing the inaugural session of a two-day international seminar on Islamic Law and its application in the contemporary society at the BIAM auditorium, the Chief Justice said, 'Contrary to what people may believe, Islamic legal system is the most dynamic in nature and its acceptability with changing time and place is guaranteed through the window of Ijtehaad.' He said, as the divine law on earth Islamic law is the most comprehensive set of rules and regulations which is capable of dispensing justice. 'A very special characteristic of the Islamic law is that it is applicable in all times and to all societies regardless of their ethnicity, colour and creed.' The seminar is being attended by scholars from Malaysia, India, Pakistan, nd Bangladesh. It has been jointly organised by the Islamic Law Research Centre and Legal Aid Bangladesh (ILRCLAB) and the Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT). Presided over by Shah Abdul Hannan, former secretary to the government, and president, BIIT, the inaugural function was also addressed by advocate Nazrul Islam, secretary general of ILRCLAB, Prof. Imtiaz Ghulam Ahmed of the University of Calcutta, India, Dr. Hashim Kamali of International Islamic University, Malaysia, Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Khan of Pakistan, Mostafa Kamal Majumder, Editor, The New Nation, Prof. Abu Bakar Rafiq, Pro-VC, International Islamic University, Chittagong and Prof. Abul Hasan Sadeq, VC, Asian University of Bangladesh. The Chief Justice said that the relevance of Islamic law to our society in modern times has never diminished. 'Instead, I think it is more relevant today than ever before.' Referring to massive corruption in our society, he said although huge anti-corruption measures inhibited the exent of corruption temporarily, they have seldom been successful to change the very characters of the corrupt people. Similarly, most of the anti-terrorism measures that have been taken to curb terrorism that has shaken the world, failed to bring about desirable results, or ironically, proved counter productive. He said Islamic legal framework will be able to instill the necessary moral fabric in the minds of the corrupt ones so that they would feel an urge from within themselves not to get involved in corruption. 'Islam does not heal any problem with superficial and light approach, rather it enters deeper into it to understand its nature and cause and then uproot the evil from its source, he said. The Chief Justice hoped that through the 2-day deliberations of the workshop a concrete understanding of Islamic law and its applicability in the contemporary society will develop. The event is well timed in the wake of increased corruption, terrorism and crimes around the globe in general ad in our country in particular, he added. Shah Abdul Hannan said that Islamic law research progressed a lot and some such laws have been enacted in various countries, though we cannot say that the legislation are perfect and there are no lacunae. The early history of Islam is replete with examples of men and women who patiently put up with all sorts of persecution and willingly laid down their lives for the sake of truth. However, the later-day Muslims needed a more stirring example to serve as an eternal reminder that social and political ills cannot be held in check without paying a really heavy price. Allah willed that this supreme example be set by the grandson of the Messenger of Allah. The martyrdom of Hazrat Husain has a significance of its own. He stood firmly, against overwhelming odds, for what he believed to be the right cause in the interest of Islam. He had no delusions about the outcome of the struggle. But the grim outlook only added to the strength of his resolve. The supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Husain exalted him to a position of glory, which the mightiest of emperors might well envy. Hazrat Husain became a symbol of the eternal struggle of right against might. Whenever and wherever men feel overawed by the forces of evil, their thoughts turn to Hazrat Husain. PoEtEsS Scarlet headscarf I wear is as red as a rose with a perfect pose but I care what's inside me…Zohra Moosa *** {Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.} (Holy Quran-16:125) {And who is better in speech than he who [says: My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness), and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: I am one of the Muslims.} (Holy Quran-41:33) The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: By Allah, if Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of camels. [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim] The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said, Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all. Bismillah [IslamCity] Nicole Queen accepts Islam
Nicole Queen accepts Islam http://youtube.com/watch?v=khjtrIkYU5I Every honest Jew who knows the history of his people cannot but feel a deep sense of gratitude to Islam, which has protected the Jews for fifty generations, while the Christian world persecuted the Jews and tried many times by the sword to get them to abandon their faith. (Uri Avnery, a Jewish Journalist) Nay we might rationally ask, did any set of human beings ever really think the man they saw there standing beside them a god, the maker of this world? Perhaps not: it was usually some man they remembered, or had seen. Bismillah [IslamCity] Bush In Cairo-editorial of Asia Post dated 18.1.08
Bush In Cairo News agencies have reported that US President George W. Bush is to make a lightning stop in Egypt on Wednesday at the end of an eight-day Middle East tour, in a sign of the cooling in ties between the two allies. The US leader will spend only three hours at the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh for talks with President Hosni Mubarak, a presidential source said, on a stop that is seen as more protocol than politics. President Mubarak shares the general discontent with Bush's policies in Iraq and Israel, Mustafa Kamal al-Sayyed, a politics professor at Cairo University, told AFP.He will receive (Bush) warmly but won't share his ideas, Sayyed said, noting that, in a keynote speech in Abu Dhabi on Monday, Bush made no mention of Egypt in a list of Middle East countries moving towards democracy. The courtesy visit even failed to rally more than a cluster of protesters around Cairo. He is a murderer of Palestinians and Iraqis, we cannot host him in Egypt, never! cried Islamist opposition figure Mohammed Abdel Qoddus as he stood on the steps of the journalists' union building with about a dozen others. The opposition press, reflecting the public mood, ran headlines against Bush's visit while the state-owned press made scant mention of the stop.Send him back home, wrote the Egyptian opposition daily Al-Destur, while liberal opposition newspaper Al-Wafd described Bush as a heavy guest. The relationship between the long-time strategic allies has taken a slight downturn, particularly over Washington's criticism of Egypt's role in securing its border with the Gaza Strip. On the eve of Bush's visit, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice urged Cairo to do more to stop arms smuggling into the Palestinian territory, which has been under the control of Islamist group Hamas since June. The US Congress last month froze 100 million dollars in aid until Rice could certify that Egypt was doing enough to stem the arms flow.In comments published on Tuesday, the Egyptian leader said Bush must press Palestinians and Israelis to agree a balanced outcome in any Middle East peace accord.Mubarak told the Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger the Palestinians are scared they will only get a small territory. The American president must push the two parties to find a just solution and must take into consideration the needs of the Palestinians, said Mubarak. We feel that the US role in the Middle East and in Palestine is so pathetic that public opinion has totally turned against them.In Iraq for a decade it has been pursuing a policy of destruction , first in the name of sanctions then direct invasion for false claim of weapons of mass destruction. In Palestine it has failed for the last sisty years, its only contribution is vetoing hundreds of resolutions in the security council to favor Israel. There is no end to the story of deceit. We hope the US realizes its foreign policy high-handedness and see reason, force Israel to vacate all west bank territories including Jerusalem, dismantle all its settlements.Later the issue of return for refugees may be negotiated by the UN.
