Which version of the IBM JDK are you using? A few months back we actually
uncovered a couple of issues with one of the IBM JDKs-- it did not
released memory properly, so the java process ended up using up paging
space, this lead to incredibly slow performance..

I wouldn't be surprised if your PC was faster than the AIX server running a
single task. You probably have more tasks running in the AIX that are eating
resources. Your task priority may also be lower than other tasks.
