So how do I configure JAMES 2.1.3 on localhost as an open relay. I was able to start it, so I can edit: C:\james-2.1.3\apps\james\SAR-INF\config.xml However I have no idea where to begin configuring. Note: I only want to configure it to send emails and not to receice emails. Regards, Daniel

You should enable SMTP authentication so you won't be an open relay but still access the server from everywhere. Better is to make the host name of the local smtp server configurable in your software. Being an open relay is not a really good idea. You can find the documentation on

You should enable SMTP authentication so you won't be an open relay but still access the server from everywhere. For his project, no one will access him anyway. He just needs to send e-mail from localhost, which is the default restriction (RemoteAddrNotInNetwork). --- Noel

For a school project, just download v2.2.0a4 from: http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-james/nightly and use it. That should take care of the DNS all by itself (check the DNS server log after startup). --- Noel
