this time? If the color depth is set to 8 bit or 24 or 32 bit then
everything works fine, no problems. It is only an issue that arises with
the 16 bit color depth.
Any insight into this would be great...

In both of these environments trying to run java (from /bin)
returns the error:
libjava.so not found
in trying to resolve this i've hard coded the location of the library path
in the script file, but then i get an error that something is terribly wrong
with the classpath... and just running java
