This change was made based on examining the fonts that I actually have
available on my system which is a stock RedHat 7.0 plus necessry patches.
So basically, you need to make the font.properties match what you actually
have avaialble.

I have never actually done this, by the RMIClassLoader should permit the dynamic
loading of classes. Below is my summary of the description provided by Java

"jre/lib/fonts" directory? Is this directory always checked first? How does
the JDK behave differently when you make the fonts available through the font
server? I do not see the "dingbats"

DLL leaves memory, the JVM may be destroyed. So far, this approach has
worked OK for us.

font path. Of
course, if you want other X applications to have access to these fonts, you will
need to add the directory to your font path. Sun's design point, according to the
documentation on their site, was to include a set of fonts that would be used
across all platforms and, thus, ma
"symbol" to "standard symbols l". I changed the names back to avoid
the font not found errors on start-up.

How are you getting the driver loaded? Also, the driver manager tries to
discover the correct driver based on the URL you specify when you get a
connection. So be sure that your URL is correct.

Have you added the full pathname for "swingall.jar" to your CLASSPATH?
Cynthia Jeness
the bash shell.
Also, you should dowloand Swing 1.0.3 or Swing 1.1. Swing 1.0.3 has some bug
fixes over Swing 1.0.2. Swing 1.1 is the next version of Swing which will be
compatible with the Swing in JDK 1.2. This is still beta while Swing 1.0.3 is
supposedly production.
