There probably is a command to either turn off your monitor, or at least turn down the brightness. But it depends on what brand you are using. For a Dell, you can do a function key down arrow to dim the brightness, but don't know of any command to actually turn it off. On a Sony you can do a

Interesting that you say that. I've never had a problem with using that function until my Dell Latitude D420. When the laptop is in the docking station and I switch the display to external only, JAWS is not happy. If I leave it on both laptop and external, JAWS is fine. Now I have not tried
