Hi list,
I have noticed something with the Jaws find command (control F) with Jaws 8.0.
Usually when I search for a word, phrase or numeral etc, Jaws would read the
sentence in which the found occurrence of the search string is found. This lets
you know, if that occurrence of the search string,

There probably is a command to either turn off your monitor, or at least
turn down the brightness.
But it depends on what brand you are using.
For a Dell, you can do a function key down arrow to dim the brightness, but
don't know of any command to actually turn it off.
On a Sony you can do a
Annette,
When you do the function key f8 to switch monitors, does Jaws still work if
there isn't an alternate monitor?
Jaws always quit speaking whenever I would do that. I don't have a Dell now
or I would give it another try.

No, I'll have to look into those bulletins and see if there's anything about
this. It seems strange that no one has had to deal with this situation.

Interesting that you say that. I've never had a problem with using that
function until my Dell Latitude D420. When the laptop is in the docking
station and I switch the display to external only, JAWS is not happy. If I
leave it on both laptop and external, JAWS is fine. Now I have not tried
I can use it, too, Matt. The problem is that I don't know how to get it to
automatically load when JAWS comes up. I think some kind of load command
needs to be put into a .ini file or something like that, but I can't seem to
get an answer from anyone on the list about this.

Then you should be able to just move it to the number 1 position.
Make sure it is exactly as it appears in whatever position it is now.
I don't remember what the driver name for dec access is, or I would give you
a better answer.
It should look something like this:
Synth1Name=decaccess
BTW, don't forget to renumber the other synsethizers.
If Eloquence is number 1, then it should be like this.
Synth2Name=eloq
Synth2LongName=Eloquence Software
Synth2Driver=eloq

I believe you can use Wizmo to blank the screen.

Have you tried Wizmo?
I downloaded it and tried to install it, but the only option I see is an

Any suggestions?

Well, I don't even get a chance to install it. When I activate the
executable file, I get a dialogue of why the program was created and an exit
button, but no next, setup or anything else.
I can only read the information by using the Jaws cursor, so was only
wondering what I am missing.
I know,
I am glad you got it fixed.
