[JAWS-Users] Re: Adjusting timeout setting on screensaver.

2006-12-27 Thread Victor Gouveia

Hi Ken,

You can get to the display settings by doing the following:

1. Go to your start menu, then press the letter S for settings. You may have
to do this more than once, depending on how you have your start menu set up and
what version of Windows you are using.

2. In the settings sub-menu, go to the Control Panel and either press enter, or
right arrow. As I don't know how you have your control panel set up, I can't
say with any certainty whether your control panel will open up like a sub-menu
or in it's own window. In any case, when you press enter on control panel,
either a window will open up or a sub-menu.

3. In which ever method does open up, press the letter D for Display and press
enter when you hear Jaws speak the word display.

4. In the resulting dialog box, press the key combination of control-tab until
you hear Jaws say Screensaver tab. You should be in a panel to control your
screen saver. Depending on which screen saver you select, you will also be
able to configure your screen saver settings and display method.

For example, if you decide on 3D text, you can type in what you want the 3D
text to say. In the case of star bursts, you can decide on how many star
bursts to create per second, and that sort of thing.

In some cases, for example, when it comes to a blank screen saver, there is
nothing to configure, as the screen just goes blank, so once you've selected
the screen saver, configured it and set it's time out settings, tab to apply,
and press the space bar, then tab to the Ok button and press the spacebar again.

Hope this helps you.

Victor

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Adjusting timeout setting on screensaver.

After updating Windows, I get logged off of whatever screenname I'm using
after just a couple minutes or inactivity. It's very frustrating because it
throws Jaws all out of focus. What do I need to do to stay logged onto a
screenname for a much more reasonable period of time?
Thanks for your help in advance. ~Ken~

It's in the control panel under display.
Control tab 2 times and this will be for the screen saver.
