Hi Ann,
Sometimes that works and sometimes you end up with an extra line space and
more bullets or numbers.
With all of the automatic features disabled you can always highlight the
text you want bulleted or numbered, go to Bullets and Numbering in the
format menu, highlight your selection, press
In a resume, how do you highlight just the lines in the resume with shift
down-arrow? Then would the bullet be inserted prior to the first character
of the first line of the block of highlighted text?
May I never get too busy in my own affairs that I fail to respond to the
needs of others with
I am using the default synthesiser Eloquence with JAWS 7.1 on a PC with XP
Home Edition.

But hang on, once you've muted the sound, it will stay muted till you
unmute it, even if you restart your computer. This is why I'm asking
how could one possibly hear system sounds, as well as other sounds,
such as speech, if the sound's muted in the first place? They can't.
Just my two pence
Hi, I have changed it now.

Hi, I had this problem, and the only way was to remove the mouse from
device manager and restart my computer. My mouse pad is now disabled
and has remained so until I re-enable it through Mouse Properties in

It works fine on mine. The reason I asked what synthesizer, is that the
pitch for capitls doesn't change when using the RealSpeak and Solo Synths.

After thinking about your question, you are correct.
My question is why would a person want to mute their speech?

Hi
I am glad to report that on the HP laptop I recently bought that I am
able to turn off the mouse pad through the use of a physical button located
at the top center of the mouse pad. This feature might be of interest to
those interested in buying a new laptop.
God bless,
Mark

Yes if you have the Jaws icon on the desktop. But the surest way to do this
is to go to the run dialog with Windows Key+R and then for instance type
jaws90 and that should do it. That is how I usually restart my Jaws.

Yes, this is one of the great features of my HP Pavilion. I'd hate to give
that up.
The only thing is that if I don't turn off the mouse pad with that button,
the focus jumps all over the place and that is a disaster when writing email
in OE!

Hi, Mark. Which version of MS word are you using? I could look up in my
tutorial and see if it has something about increasing the pitch.

Shirley,
aren't we lucky to have kids who love and help us? My sons and

Debbie,
This is exactly what section breaks are for. If you put a next page
section break in a document instead of a hard page break, you will find
you can create headers and footers for each section. To insert a section
break go to the Insert menu and choose Break, and on the dialogue that
