Hi, I recommend Logitech USB microphones. They're plug and play, meaning no
third party drivers are required. Mind you, I'm not sure if they'll work
under Vista (anyone tried it under this configuration?), but I do know they
work under XP and possibly earlier. Hope that helps.

Dear List
I have just tried to connect a microphone to my new PC. Unfortunately the
computer is trying to be too clever for its own good. Instead of having a
mic in socket the Tex high definition audio driver simply recognises that

For your information I hadn't either, but jaws 9 requires one in my set up.

Lisa,
Not sure what has happened. Just uncheck the box in the Wizard where it
asks if you want to install it and it should stop asking you.

Hi Eric,
Yes I did install my jaws 8 training material. After I installed jaws 9 I
left the CD in the computer, and I restarted my computer. Then I installed
my training material for jaws 9. Now I'm even more confused as to why I
keep getting this message. It sounds like I'll just half to de
This was certainly an issue during the JAWS beta stages, using Word 2000.
What you may still have to do is delete the normal.dot , which is the
template file. MS Word then automatically creates a new blank one when you
next open the program.

Hi Lisa,
Just a guess here but I suspect you installed the training materials
when you installed your JAWS 8 version in the past. As a result, you are
seeing that training material when you look at training in the JAWS 9
help menu, since all training material will be stored in the same

HI Lisa
It's probably because the program doesn't check to see whether you already
have the materials installed. It seems normal from my perspective. I
wouldn't worry about it.Take care.

Is it possible that you want the Normal setting under the view menu?
Open the view menu with Alt+V then arrow to normal and press enter on it
to check it.
That should get you back into normal view.
