Larry,
I was able to use OmniPage, that came free with my scanner, to scan a
bunch of documents. I didn't go digging around in the program, just got
it to scan and dump stuff to a text file. I was using JAWS 9. I didn't
find any specific issues with using it. The menu structure was self
Hey Gang,
Every time I go to this website jaws will not do anything. When I up or down
arrow all I get is a boing.
Could some one check it out and tell me that I'm not going crazy, and why it
is doing that?
Thanks Patti

I clicked on the link and it worked for me. I am using JAWS 8.0. This web
site probably contains a heavy amount of graphics so it will take time to
load if you are on dial-up. This is the case for most news organizations. It
is best to click on this web site and read your email or something
I have been doing some reading on both Abby Finereader and a program called
Text Cloner Pro and they both look like good candidates. I know there was
some discussion about jaws and Omni Page however, I am still not sure which
OCR package work best with Jaws.

I've got an employee at work using Abby Fine with JAWS, and he loves it.
I've used Text Cloner Pro and found it was great for handling what I needed
at home, so the price was right. At work we also have a number of people
who use OpenBook and Kurzweil. You just need to look at the features you

If all you hear when pressing the up or down arrows is a boing, that
probably means that your browser has closed for some reason. Press the JAWS

line.
Sometimes your firewall, if you have one installed, may stop your
When you're in the folder, try selecting from the last you want to hear to

It may depend what version of Jaws you have. I have 7.1 and had issues with
the website as I indicated previously.

It's been my experience that if you enter into a folder where everything you

If this is not the case, you need to tell us

My friend asked me to format a 8gb USB thumb drive because he could not do it
on his computer. After running a virus check I started the format process and
discovered that the drive was write protected. How and why he did this I don't
know. How can I unprotect this USB drive so I can format it.
