Ah, shouldn't fix what ain't broke. They'll be getting my two cents about the
issue, or in this case the fix. Least they could do is have a toggle for that
function so one could turn it on or off.
Some of the greatest inventions come by mistake and I think this is one of them.

Well, somebody must have said that it was actually 'broke' in the past, due
to the 'incorrect' navigation between headings as alluded to earlier.

So is Erik saying that the numbers 2 and should only be accessible after
navigating to the specific level 1 heading that they are related to? I was
wondering why I keep hearing no level x headings when there really are. I
thought perhaps
