I want to get away from MSE because it doesn't seem to pick up
anything, even if I don't download anything. Once it picked
Windows Defender, or MSSE, is fine along
with running periodic scans with an off-line program. Personally, I use
Sophos Virus Removal tool.

play nice with certain sites or programs. That's why I prefer Windows
Defender.

You do have a valid point today, but if it is something known, the
antivirus should be able to pick it up. The fact a file sat on my
machine so I could see how MSE performed with it and it never picked it
up and I knew it was infected gave me the hint that it wasn't seemingly
