Re: [JAWS-Users] Doing a word search in MS Word

2016-04-25 Thread Adrian Spratt
Kimsan,

Yes, the pagedown key finds the next instance, but I don't use it because I
could get confused between the two functions. Try this. After your original
search locates the first instance, press the spacebar. I've just confirmed what
happens. You're taken to the next instance and told the number of instances of
that string in the document. This assumes you don't leave the search function.

This thread brings up an interesting question, as I thought I saved the note.
It was from another jfw list of which I'm no longer apart of so I cannot search
the archive.

When performing a search in word, there was a tip to find the next
occurrence of the word, I think it was page up and page down, now that I
think of it. Let me go right the word haha hahaha hahaha and see if it will
work.

Hi Ed,

Try the Jaws Find Dialogue, Insert / Jaws Key, Control, + F. Another tip,
for files like this I will save them as text files to make it easier to
search for numbers / words.
Take care.

I have a TV listing on a word doc. If I want to do a search for a certain
channel how can I do that. I have tried using the ctrl+F but have not
figured out how to use it. Any suggestions on this would be appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Doing a word search in MS Word

2016-04-25 Thread Adrian Spratt
Ed, what happens when you press control-f, type in your search string and then
press enter? The initial search can be misleading and JAWS may say nothing. In
that case, press escape, then control-f again, this time leave the text field
alone (your original text is still there) and again press enter. You should
then land on the first instance of the search string you want.

Depending on what you report back, I can try to be more specific. My first
attempts with control-f in Word were hit-and-miss efforts, but once I
recognized how it functions, it proved to give me more than I expected. For
example, once the search lands on the first instance, it will announce the
total number of instances of that search string in the document.

Note that the JAWS insert-f "find" function searches only for whole words, so
you often miss items you might want. For example, if you want the word "want"
and search for those four letters as a string, you won't find "wants,"
"wanting," etc. for that, you need to use the MS Word control-f find.

Hi Adrian,
I use mcafee total protection on both of my computers I have had no issues
with using it with Jaws.

I have used the mcafee antivirus program for about 6 years now.
I put two audio tutorials on using the mcafee program with Jaws on the Jaws
Users OneDrive download page.

Take a listen to them if you wish...

Love God! with your heart, mind, and soul, that you might be blessed
reaching His goal.
Love your Neighbor as you would yourself, God will truly reward you with
good health.
Love God, your neighbor, as you love yourself, you will then be spiritually
balanced with wealth.
Love His Word that proceeds from His lips, then reflect on the heavens where
God sits.

Come to think of it, I moved on from Mod32 to Vipre and now to Microsoft
Security Essentials, which started out poorly in performance ratings but has
since gained a good affectedness score. It's been a long time since I looked
at a table comparing the effectiveness of different security programs, but
they really do vary widely and also change over time.

Kevin, your general comment might have some validity, but ESET Nod32 is
valid, reputable security software. However, I'll add that the security
expert I rely on switched me from Nod32 to Vipre. Effectiveness ratings in
this area seem to go up and down like yoyos. I wouldn't be surprised if

I have a relaxing music cd. I want one track for the finale of my magic
show. I need the piece to play at full volume for about one minute then fade
to silence for the rest of the tune about 2 more minutes. I looked through
gold wave and not sure if I can really do this . Has anyone ever faded about
2/3 of the music track?

For my part I wouldn't think it is required at all. There are not that
many options to select from that a person is likely to forget what they
have chosen, besides it is always a good practice to review your settings
before going ahead and hitting the finish button.

I would be interested in hearing your opinion if I did a decent job
covering the program. If you haven't heard it go to the audio page and
give it a listen.

Hi David and all
Thanks for all of your work. Now is a question for the new feature. Do you
thing a message box which report all user options, such as the selected
Jaws

version, overwrite script, recompile etc needed when finish installing?
Thought of it, and tried adding to the program but it didn't work. If you
think it needn't, then I'll stop researching about this.

The latest version of the program and my recording are now up on the
server.

I hope I did it some justice just under 8 and a half minutes.
