Re: [JAWS-Users] Doing a word search in MS Word
Kimsan, Yes, the pagedown key finds the next instance, but I don't use it because I could get confused between the two functions. Try this. After your original search locates the first instance, press the spacebar. I've just confirmed what happens. You're taken to the next instance and told the number of instances of that string in the document. This assumes you don't leave the search function. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Kimsan Sent: Tuesday, April 26, 2016 12:16 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Doing a word search in MS Word This thread brings up an interesting question, as I thought I saved the note. Re: [JAWS-Users] Doing a word search in MS Word
Ed, what happens when you press control-f, type in your search string and then press enter? The initial search can be misleading and JAWS may say nothing. In that case, press escape, then control-f again, this time leave the text field alone (your original text is still there) and again press enter. You should then land on the first instance of the search string you want. Depending on what you report back, I can try to be more specific. My first attempts with control-f in Word were hit-and-miss efforts, but once I recognized how it functions, it proved to give me more than I expected. For example, once the search lands on the first instance, it will announce the total number of instances of that search string in the document. Note that the JAWS insert-f "find" function searches only for whole words, so you often miss items you might want. For example, if you want the word "want" and search for those four letters as a string, you won't find "wants," "wanting," etc. for that, you need to use the MS Word control-f find. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Pinky Sent: Monday, April 25, 2016 8:37 PM To: JAWS-Users-List 2 Subject: [JAWS-Users] Doing a word search in MS Word Hi Group, I have a TV listing on a word doc. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS script install
For my part I wouldn't think it is required at all. There are not that many options to select from that a person is likely to forget what they have chosen, besides it is always a good practice to review your settings before going ahead and hitting the finish button. I would be interested in hearing your opinion if I did a decent job covering the program. If you haven't heard it go to the audio page and give it a listen. -Original Message- From: Dang Manh Cuong Sent: Sunday, April 24, 2016 11:40 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS script install Hi David and all Thanks for all of your work. Now is a question for the new feature. Do you thing a message box which report all user options, such as the selected Jaws version, overwrite script, recompile etc needed when finish installing? Thought of it, and tried adding to the program but it didn't work. If you think it needn't, then I'll stop researching about this.
