Re: [JAWS-Users] Question on KNFB app for Windows

2017-03-08 Thread TheHangMan
Kimsan,
I think, your pc's camera takes a picture and the knfb scans and reads any
type material.

I tried to download it, when it was only $20 and I got as far as the
personal info and credit card and jaws, then did nothing after that, so I
cancel and closed out after a 4 hour experience!
Jorge
PS-
Now, it cost $100, good on 10 pc's.

My question is how do you use this blasted thing.

When I scan, do I place it on the keyboard? Or every time I am scanning I
need to have my scanner connected to it so I would need to place the paper
on the tray of the scanner??
It's 19.99 much easier on the phone vs the comp. lol Respectfully, Kimsan

Hi Group,

Does anyone know how to make the KNFB app for windows read line by line?

All I have been able to figure out is how to stop the reading and start it
again using ctrl + P. If anyone has a list of short cut keys that would be
helpful too. I have looked online but have not found anything.

Okay, that makes sense. I didn't think so, I was spot on with the G key,
and this does not always happen with the G key, so I have been unable to
assess what triggers the misbehavior.

Judy,
In case my previous messages did not get through clearly, your laptop very
likely have a very shallow rubber touched it located slightly below the G
and H keys, nested between them. I suspect you were accidentally hitting
that stick

Hi, Glen,

I thought about this some more, and will keep what you say in mind, but this
is not behaving like a key with dust or a particle under it. The key feels
no different when depressing than the others, and the key does not stick.
Plus, it does not happen all the time. Plus, it activates something on my
system that either silences Jaws or makes it so the cursor does not move, or
am in a blank screen of some sort, who knows. I would think if there were
something like a particle under the key, it would not activate anything or
even react. This reaction I've described happens once I depress the G key,
it activates something on my system.

Just some thoughts, and thanks.

f you are talking about a dongle, they were around $50 some years back when
I got one. You plug it in and the system is authorized for as long as it is
connected. The key stays on the dongle so it will authorize any system it is
connected to no matter how often you move it from computer to computer. So
far they don't ware out that I have seen either.

Sounds like you have a dodgy switch under your keyboard's letter G.
Turn you keyboard upside down, and give it a controlled but ascertive shake.
You could also spray clean air under the keys, but, do not spray anything
onto / under the keys other than clean air.

Judy,
In case my previous messages did not get through clearly, your laptop very
likely have a very shallow rubber touched it located slightly below the G and H
keys, nested between them. I suspect you were accidentally hitting that stick

Hi Judy,

Laptop keyboards most often include an FN key. A possibility might be that
your FN+g key is defined to do something and you are occasionally
accidentally hitting the FN key instead of the Shift key which might be next
to it. Or, you might be hitting the Control+G keys rather than the Shift+G
key.
This thought comes from one who sometimes has fingers who think they have a
mind of their own.

You said that this doesn't always happen. Try to note in which situations
it does happen.
Does this always happen in specific applications like Outlook, Word etc.?
Could your "G" key have been redefined as a shortcut for something.
Have you tried running with the default JAWS option?
You could hit Insert-Spacebar followed by z. This will remove any JAWS user
keyboard definitions, scripts etc. from the mix. See if your problem goes
away.

Hello Arianna,
I did not have an issue with the Reuters look-up source timing out but
I did notice that the response time was slightly longer and not as
quick as one of the other sources (CNET) would have been.
The only solution I can recommend is that you try restarting JAWS or
your computer to see if this issue abates. This might sound obvious,
but I would also make sure that the machine that you are trying to
perform the research it look-up from has a solid Internet connection.
 Hope that helps

I have a dongle that I bought years ago. It probably has JAWS 9 or 10. Can
a Dongle be updated to a current version or do you need to buy a new one?

Even when you try to customize it, JAWS announce it as 'mozilla'.

Yes - you need to know how the menus work, and what the Chrome keyboard
commands are.

I've been using Chrome on the Windows 10 system at work for a while now,
having largely switched from Firefox. Chrome is working reliably. I also use
it under Mac OS, where it is likewise very accessible.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws on the go.

Hi

Freedom Scientific used to put out a thumb drive version of JAWS. But
the latest release of the thumb drive version that I could find on the
FS web site was for JAWS 15. The thumb drive version could be run
mostly from a thumb drive. But Before you can run the thumb drive
version

, the JAWS

video intercept had to be installed on the computer. But since the

latest

version is JAWS 15, it can only be used on Windows 8.1 and earlier.
It will not run on Windows 10.
For more information, while you're on the FS web site. Go to the
downloads link, then to the JAWS link, then the Previous versions of
jaws link, then to the JAWS 15 thumb drive USB Downloads link and
press enter. This will be a page that explains how to use the thumb
drive version and the download links for the 32 and 64 bit versions
and

the video intercept.

How much does jaws on the go cost, and can you use it as often as you want,
for example, on any pc as you want. If I only have 3 authorizations, does
that mean that you only have the opportunkity to use it three times?

You can have a license on a thumb drive, I have one for JAWS 18 and if
I go to a computer that has JAWS demo installed I can put my key in it
and use it. Other than that I use a portible copy of NVDA.

Hello, List,

Another question. I know I've seen info on this, but need to be reminded.
Is it possible to carry Jaws on a thumb drive, then download it to
whatever computer I happen to be on. An example of this would be a
floating office administrator who works in several different locations
on different computers.

Please help me understand this process and how to implement it.

Thanks very much.

Sounds like you have a dodgy switch under your keyboard's letter G.
Turn you keyboard upside down, and give it a controlled but ascertive shake.
You could also spray clean air under the keys, but, do not spray anything

It is a USB stick that has the JAWS authorization on it so that when you
need to transport your JAWS from one computer to another you can do so
without having to worry about running JAWS in a demo mode from computer to
