I agree, using "Quick Settings" is the way to deal with column and row titles. This will automatically read the title as you navigate the spreadsheet. As great as this feature is, it can be a bit temperamental. Sometimes the settings do not set after you have selected what you want. They also get unset for some unknown reason.
