[JAWS-Users] jaws stops whenever I plug in my uSB stereo and turntable
hello David and all. Ever since I got windows 7, I've been wanting to tackle this task. However the day before yesterday, I tried to record from my USB turntable/Stereo and jaws justfroze. just like that...No voice. will it work if I use SAPI 5 voices? or, do i need an external synhesizer? I'm using jaws15. I got Dectalk uSB, but I don't know how to install the drivers on the disc that it came with. Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws stops whenever I plug in my uSB stereo and turntable
You can use an external synthesizer or you can designate Jaws to use your onboard synthesizer. When you plug in your turntable, it is becoming the default synthesizer.. If you designate Jaws to use the onboard synthesizer, not the default synthesizer, it should keep speaking when you plug in the turntable. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of randy tijerina Sent: Wednesday, September 03, 2014 1:17 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] jaws stops whenever I plug in my uSB stereo and turntable hello David and all. I can't remember the keystrokes for choosing which synthesizer you want to run Jaws. Perhaps another helpful soul will chime in. The onboard synthesizer is the one built into your computer, likely a Real Tech. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of randy tijerina Sent: Wednesday, September 03, 2014 2:02 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws stops whenever I plug in my uSB stereo and turntable Onboard synthesizer? tell me how do I go about doing this? Hi Randy, I think the incorrect terms are being used here, causing the confusion. I believe what Clifford is meaning to say is, soundcard, or sound device. Windows takes the last sound device plugged in to the system the default sound device, and if Jaws is set to use the default device, then you are not hearing it because your USB device is not equipped with speakers. You will need to determine the name of your soundcard, and then set Jaws to always use it. Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws stops whenever I plug in my uSB stereo and turntable
Hi Randy, That may be true of the stereo, but typically, turntables are output devices so the sound of Jaws would not come thru the turntable. To set the preferred soundcard for Jaws: 1. While in the Jaws program window, open the utilities menu, and then open the soundcard sub-menu. 2. it should display something like this: Windows default sound card checked Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) In the above example, Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) , is the on-board soundcard in this system. Notice that the Windows default sound card is checked, and I have it this way so that when I plug another audio device in, such as a USB headset, Jaws will jump right to it. In your particular case, having Jaws use something different than mine would probably be your best bet.
