It was never claimed that insert spacebar v did anything. Insert v, end
key, then spacebar, to temporarily mute JAWS speech, is the alternative.

I just tried this after reading the messages and found that insert
space bar
s turns or mutes jaws on and off as tried insert space bar v and
nothing
worked as far as turning jaws back on then chose insert space bar s
and

worked as far as turning speech or jaws back on.

I changed this keystroke to Caps lock pluss backspace combo. It makes
it

much easier to silence jaws especially on my netbook.

Insert+spacebar is the 'layered scripting' command, and I expecft

see more commands added to follow the Insert+space sequence. it also
appears to apply across any and all apps, whereas insert+v (on its

2011-01-14 Thread Steve
You can mute the speech with insert-space and then S. But, that doesn't get
Jaws out of the way. In other words, unless you have forms mode set to
auto with no delay, a sighted person browsing the web might get confused by
the virtual cursor and forms mode. So, it might be better to unload and
reload Jaws.
