I'd recommend only downloading "important" updates.  Skip the 
recommended updates.  iI checked the option in the Windows Update 
control panel to "Check for updates but let me install them".


Still all of this caution did not prevent the Get Windows 10 onslaught.

it removes all windows updates pertaining to the get windows 10 update?

I am using windows 8.1  and jaws 15

isn't that funny the way they come out with things after it is all over
