Re: [JBoss-dev] Oracle has bought JBoss on google

2002-02-07 Thread danch

JBoss has already weathered a Slashdotting or two with no problems
(according to Marc, not close to pegging CPU).

yes being slashdotted was a non-event 30% CPU utilization at peak (Jetty as
webserver)

Submitting a story does nothing. The story actually has to be approved. And
slashdot people can be pricks at times.

A shitty move.

Fight fire with fire? There's no advert at the top when you
type in 'oracle'.

Look at the title:

When I search security focus the app server I read about being breakable is Oracle:

Smile

The ugly point is really that it only appears for JBoss and
not for Bea Weblogic, IBM Websphere, Enhydra, OpenEJB
etc. but at least we can say that JBoss is searched enough to
make Oracle invest their money.
I am convinced that serious people don't fall for this trick but
I am a dissapointed by Google. Maybe we should complain
about this unfair practice at Google.

nah it is just business as usual.

submit a story to slashdot pointing out that JBoss search returns Oracle and
that 1- Google will sell about anything, damaging open source is ok, doesn't
count 2- Since no-one else is getting that it means they KNOW we are THE
searched app server and fight it...

man! be creative

Probably just some smart-ass mid-level manager who thought of this to
show off in the organization for his brilliant ideias... I would just
ignore it. ( Unless there is a systematic campaign from Oracle against
JBoss, which it doesn't seem to be the case )
