[josm-dev] scanaerial: How to find out if version is outdated? how to package?

2011-05-22 Thread Jonas Stein
scanaerial is a script for Ext_tools.
Has anyone a good idea how we could distribute scanaerial in a package
so that the user can install it easy like other plugins in josm?

How could we check and inform the user if the installed version is outdated?

kind regards,

Re: [josm-dev] Lakewalker PlugIn no images

2011-04-21 Thread Jonas Stein
I tryed to patch LakewalkerWMS.java but couldn't find out what the new
 URL should look like...

Regarding the other tickets for Lakewalker-Plugin it looks like
 Lakewalker isn't maintained anymore.

You can try scanaerial.
Its very modular and works with many WMS

Re: [josm-dev] Google Summer of Code

2011-03-24 Thread Jonas Stein
until 2005-02-11 it is still time to offer a project for Google's summer
of code. So if anyone has good ideas to offer and/or wants to do
mentorship for a student in this program, please tell now, so we can do
 the necessary paperwork.

 See also http://www.google-melange.com/

The old Fuzzer Plugin got some freshup. It is called scanaerial now.
It works fine, but it could work fantastic, if someone
has fun to rewrite the aerea detection algorithm.
The one we use is very slow and dumb. There are much better ones
for this case.
I think the size of that project is fine for a google summer code project.

Re: [josm-dev] Error messages in Josm

2010-08-24 Thread Jonas Stein

You might think, he is just looking for an excuse, and you are right. ;)

Currently, you have at least some differentiation:
EE: error - this is always a coding error, please file a bug
 report-window pops up
WW: warning - Message on the console starting with Warning or Error
 or Fatal
II: information - everything else on the console

it would be fine, if the dev team would include this scheme in josm.

kind regards,

[josm-dev] Error messages in Josm

2010-08-12 Thread Jonas Stein

i just had a problem with josm. A friend tried to reproduce the steps and
got a different (translated) message.

I suggest to add errorcodes and
not to translate error messages as things get very improper.
Errormessages could start with
WW: warning
II: information
EE: error

That could help to filter information.

Fatal: seems to be not the best word to describe the situation.

Example
JOSM will not stop working for german users:

Fatal: failed to locate image 'markers/Bus Station.png'. This is a serious
configuration problem. JOSM will stop working.

Fehler: Das Bild 'markers/Bus Station.png' konnte nicht geladen werden. Das
ist ein schwerwiegendes Konfigurationsproblem.

please comment,

Re: [josm-dev] FYI: german Josm cheat sheet

2010-06-24 Thread Jonas Stein

I started to include JOSM-Icons from the wiki page.
Are you fine with that?

Would you support it if i insert the josm logo under the headline?

I have started to write a german cheat sheet for JOSM beginners.
 its 3 fold DIN-A4
It is primary for my mapping party, where new users need/wish some
 help on paper.

 ideas and contributions are welcome,

Re: [josm-dev] Can't get Yahoo imagery to show up in JOSM

2010-05-05 Thread Jonas Stein
Although the best solution would be to include a downloader into the
plugin or include a self-test function.
We can't include a downloader in the plugin except someone writes a Java
 software to do so.

I am not very familiar with java, but isn't there a standard lib for
things like download?

I tried to write a shell script, that downloads the URL given on
command line like wget, but that did not work. Does webkit more?

Btw: there is a link to a webkit.c file in the wiki. That did not
compile on debian testing. Plenty of missing libs and errors. I tried to
fix them manually, but gave up after a while.

Kind regards,

[josm-dev] new clock icon

there have been some problems with the rendering of the arrow width
in Clock.svg.
I have fixed it in:

And improved visibility for small icons.
