[jug-discussion] November's meeting - tonight! Flex and maybe more

2004-11-09 Thread Webmaster
Yes, it's that time again for another JUG meeting. Tonight it will be our
own Tim Colson presenting on Macromdedia's Flex
(http://macromedia.com/software/flex/).

What: JUG monthly meeting - Flex presentation
When: 6:30 meet and greet, 7:15 presentation
Where: AZ Mail Order, Inc, 3740 E. 34th Street
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&address=3740+E.+34th+Street&;
city=Tucson&state=AZ&homesubmit=Get+Map

What is Flex and why should you be interested?
If you are a Web developer you should be well aware at how cumbersome doing
a full-blown Web applicaiton in HTML using HTTP is. You have to worry about
sessions, browsers not displaying HTML correctly, users using the back
button and possibly hosing your app data, cookies or no cookies, javascript
problems, etc.

Flex uses Flash technology and XML to help you create robust, rich internet
applications that talk with a multitide of back-end technologies with a
responsive user interface.

Flex hopes to be the next platform for a field of internet applications, so
that alone means that you should come and see what all the buzz is about.

[jug-discussion] Logo Disqualification

2003-02-20 Thread Webmaster
We have done some research and discovered that Eduardo's logo resembles the
Sun Java logo too much and we cannot use it for the website. I've removed
it from the table of logo entries under consideration.

I apologize that this was not done sooner, but now that we know this, if you
voted for Eduardo's logo, you may send your vote for a different logo by
sending an e-mail to this list by midnight Sunday, February 23, 2003.

You may view logo entries at:

http://www.tucson-jug.org/logos.html

Sorry about this everyone. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks,
Rene

[jug-discussion] Vote for JUG Logo

2003-02-03 Thread Webmaster
Hi everyone,
We've finally got several logos to choose from for the website logo.

You can view the logo entries at:
http://www.tucson-jug.org/logos.html

To vote, send an e-mail with the name of the entry that you want to vote for
to this discussion list. Send your e-mail before the next meeting on
February 11, 2003.

Also, I apologize in advance to those who don't like the extra e-mail, but
we simply don't have the voting functionality implemented yet. And, if you
really don't like it, maybe you would volunteer to help implement voting :-)
?

Thanks,
Rene

[jug-discussion] Past Presentations

2003-01-29 Thread Webmaster
I've finally had some time to update the presentations page on the JUG
website. I have all the presentations listed with their presenters and the
dates they were given on the presentations page. If I had the presentation
material and/or a link from the author of the presentation, it's available
for download or the link is present.

If you've given a JUG presentation and would like to share the presentation
for download on the JUG site and/or there is a link for your presentation,
please e-mail the presentation and/or link to me and I'll see that it is
made available.

Thanks,
Rene
