Re: [JPP-Devel] Language files

2015-12-09 Thread Giuseppe Aruta
No Jukka,
they do basically the same and thanks to Alberto they share the same
libraries/methods.
There is a chronological order:
a) the raster color editor on menu context is the first and it was added by
Stefan some years ago
b) I modified this version on the one available on Layer context – Change
styles in order to have more features
c) Alberto added the last new plugin wich is more featured and well done.

I personally work with raster and prefer to use Alberto's version. I
suggested some month ago on the list to "obliterate" a) and b) in order to
support only the most featured one. And the answer was to wait Users'
opinion (which never come). Now it is the time to take a final decision.

For Sextante image layers there are now these tools:

- Raster – Raster color editor (very basic)

- Layer context – Raster styles (even more features)

Are they so different that we need all those in the future?

as far as i am concerned we raise the minor number until we hit a major

just played a bit with IntelliJ and noticed that new property entries get added
at the bottom of the language files by the editor. are you aware of this?

also there seem to be erroneous
 enjump.core.ui.plugin.tools.generate.LinearReferencingOnLayerPlugIn

Yes, I noticed that.
It's not the ideal behaviour if some want to update files by hand (with
a text editor).
Sorting files is also not an option as some properties spread over two
lines.

Should be fixed. Did you update resource files recently ?

the solution for eclipse i dug up sorts everything on every change. i strictly
oppose that!

but simply adding to the end will end up in totally unsynchronized language
files wrt. entry order. doesn't feel right to me.. especially when we don't
have a gui for contributors so they don't have to look at the actual file
anymore.

not sure if we are walking a wrong direction here.. ede

When you say be aware that you are not changing the key, only the

the language files (jump_it.properties, jump_en.properties, etc)?

people who do not know anything about JAVA or anything
else of programming.
These people would take benefits of a chenging

Re: [JPP-Devel] Language files - an outline

2007-10-08 Thread Larry Becker
I did it in MSDOS using a group of folder associated
to OJ root: every folder (IT, DE, EN, ec)had the same
startup script file (OpenJUMP.bat) but with different
language option (one with Duser.language=it, another
with Duser.language=De, etc).

Perhaps Peppe's use case can be handled by simply including all of these
scripts in the release. I think switching languages after the program is
running would require a lot of rework.

I want to point out a small problem with actual
translation of OJ in other languages: When OJ starts
it automatically sets on my language (Italian).
I know how to go back in English (startup script)in
order to use the wiki help.
But probabily many users (expecially Finnic, Spanish
and Italian) will find strange the startup script
 modification.
If they know a little bit of English and want to use
wiki help pages they probabily will have difficulties.

For instance, if a portuguase, spanish, finnic or
italian user (who knows a little bit of English) wants
to use OJ and compare it to help wikis (which are in
English), It is not certain that he knows (or he wants
to know) how to switch back in English writing
 Duser.language==EN.
Of coarse German and French users suffer less for this
 (thanks to the Uwe's documentation).
I would like to make things easier for every user

 I image two options:

 1) Probabily we need to invert the way OJ uses the
language. I think that an option which gives to the
users the ability to change the languages will be
 fine.
 *
I did it in MSDOS using a group of folder associated

startup script file (OpenJUMP.bat) but with different
language option (one with Duser.language=it, another

I prepared a language.bat script which only gives me
the options to change languages (coping the
 corresponding script to OJ/BIN folder).
I ask you if it is not difficult to create a JAR file
which does the same. That we can use as a Language
 option tool
PS it seems to me that GvSIG uses the same system

 2) OJ needs documentation in other languages. I wait
for Uwe's new tutorial since I want to translate it in
 Italian, too.
As I wrote in a former letter also the list of
functionalities has to be translates in other
 languages.
This solution seems very useful. But I prefer also the
first one since working only on documentation
languages will create a separation between users of
different nationalities. Also the second solution
 requires more job

PS if you think about a tool to change languages in
OJ, this probabily could work as an indipendent
software (not a plugin of OJ). It could be useful to
setup the language during OJ installation

 Thanks for your attention

Re: [JPP-Devel] Language files

2007-10-07 Thread Rahkonen Jukka
Hi,

I started to work on the strings missing translation by using the language file
from the nightly built as template. However, I feel that that file does not
contain the missing strings but I have to cut and paste them from the English
language file. That is not so difficult, but it could be even more simple, if:
- missing strings were added to each language file automatically, or even better
- translations were stored in a spread sheet file having own column for each
language

The latter may also help in translating, because the translator could simply
check how some tricky thing has been solved in other, more or less
understandable languages.

I wonder how could I test drag'n drop functionality and dockable windows, they
hear like interesting to me both.

Re: [JPP-Devel] Language files

2007-09-28 Thread Stefan Steiniger
Hei Jukka,

i think it will still work the way as we did it before.
So use the nightly built.

but the keys posted by Michael should give you a hint where to search
for empty ones. Because it will take some time to go through the list
and find the keys that need to be translated.
I don't know if you can use prbeditor as well. We/You need to test that.

I believe I will have time for translating the missing strings next week.
But what is the preferred way to do it? Until now I have just downloaded the
nighly build, edited the language file and sent it corrected to Stefan.
I believe that the list you sent was about the strings that had no
Finnish translation at all. I will go through that but there is also
something to correct in my earlier job.

2007-09-28 Thread Giuseppe Aruta
Hi developers

1) The HelpShortcut keys is translated in Italian
as AiutoCombinazione tasti: This is correct, but
instead to open the Shortcut keys window, it opens an
empty window. This seems not to heppen with other
languages (Spanish and German). I wander where is the
problem

2) I deleted -Duser.language=IT from Script file
(OpenJUMP.BAT) to have back the English Language.
Nevertheless, when I launched again OJ, Italian
language was still activated.
I had to write a string like -Duser.language=XX to
come back to English.
Should we use a stable -Duser.language=XX on the
regular English Script to evoid confusion?

Yes, shortcut keys are translated in an html file and the italian
version is missing.
Here is the english file in the svn :
http://jump-pilot.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/jump-pilot/core/trunk/src/com/vividsolutions/jump/workbench/ui/plugin/KeyboardPlugIn_en.html?revision=859view=markup
You can create italian file from this one, and any committer can add it
to the trunk.

Default behaviour of java programs on windows is to use the regional
parameters.
-Duser.language is the way to enforce the jvm to use another language

Sorry, I did not understand your remark.
I started from the language files in the svn except for italian. What is
 the problem with

 deejump.pluging.style.LayerStyle2SLDPlugIn.Namespace ?

Is it a useful or unuseful key ? (it seems to be useful, at least in my

I need to understand which tool is reporting what and in which language.

[JPP-Devel] Language files

2007-09-26 Thread Michaël Michaud
Hi list,

I tried to clean-up a little bit the language files.
To do it, I used a tool (https://prbeditor.dev.java.net/) which makes it
easy to find missing keys, but which has its own way to format and order
things (I must say I lost so many comments that I cleaned them all but
the header ones). If some of you are bothered by that, we'll have to
come back to previous version (thanks to tell me).

I mainly removed unused keys and I did a list containing missing
translations (I did not do the list for portuguese and chinese : too
many translations missing).
Please, try the next nightly build to check I did not break anything in
your language, and update the files in your language or send the
translations to be committed (note that the list here after may not be
exhaustive, and the best way is to check the file itself)

Michaël

Nice editor! Now translation almost looks like fun. ;-)

 Michaël,

Excellent work on finding a nice tool to edit the language files, I've
give it a try for my new plug-ins.
