[Kaboodle-user] error on loading
I've installed Kaboodle under Win XP. Initially I had notinstalled WinPCapbut Kaboodle would still load . When I installed WinPCap, I now get an error on loading Kaboodle after it detects my devices that says. "EF MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." On closing the error message window , Kaboodle also closes. Dave
[Kaboodle-user] Getting connected
I've been struggling to get Kaboodle to work between an officeand a homecomputer network. Both ends have a simple 2 computer network and all 4 computersuse win xp sp2. I'm also using Kaboodle demo proxy to assist the connection. When I click on connect I continue to receive a direct connection not found message, at either end. I have noticed that when Kaboodle loadsat theoffice or home, the local pc icon does not show a V halo as suggested in the help files and therefore I assume its not set up to receive VNC connections. What am I doing wrong to not get the V halo? Re: [Kaboodle-user] connecting to another network
Hi Scott Have progressed a bit. I can now connect from home to office but not office to home. However when I attempt to take over remote ctl of the office pc from home, nothing happens. What is supposed to happen? I had assumed once connected I could browse the remote files and initiate file transfers from the remote pc. Is this correct? I've noticed the instant not-found message too, but it was usually a correct message. That is, I had the wrong partnership files installed on one side ofthe Kaboodle connection. Please be sure that: 1. Both sides have a unique registration file installed. 2. The first side has a partnership file installed that's associated with the second side's registration file. 3. The second side has a partnership file installed that's associated with the first side's registration file. Right now, there's something of a functional bug in Kaboodle, in that it will allow a user to install a Registration file and then subsequent Partnership files that are not actually associated with the installed Registration file. I've got a good way of fixing that, but it involves finishing an application server that runs alongside the GetEngaged database server. Anyhow...please check those above 3 things. You may want to delete the current Registration and Partnership folders (in the Kaboodle install folder), and SHIFT-key start Kaboodle, just to be sure. hth, Scott On Wed, 16 Feb 2005, Dave Dyment wrote: Ok. so now the proxy loads. However when I click on connect button, I get an immediate message Sorry, your Get Engaged partner was not found. What is odd about it is that the message is instant. In the past it used to try to connect for a minute or so before giving up. Now it looks like it's not even attempting to connect. Any ideas? Dave D. - Original Message - From: Scott C. It's up again. Password to connect is demo2005. -Scott On Tue, 15 Feb 2005, Dyment wrote: 1 steps forward, 2 steps back. I installed the latest beta release with the new layout. However there is a problem with Kaboodle proxy. When I click on setup, and navigate to the proxy status window, I click on add, enter the internet address (copied via the clipboard), and the new password. It fails to load the proxy demo and gives me an error box saying proxy was not found. The new coding perhaps does not recognize demo proxy as a legitimate proxy? Re: [Kaboodle-user] duplicate partnership id's/pc's listed as macs
Hello David My partnership lists also were showing up twice. It disappeared after I deleted the partnership and registration directories and reinstalled them. I think it likely was because I clicked on the .ecf files twice during installation and it must setup duplicate entries in the partnership directory. Ideally it should be an human error Kaboodle checks for, so it doesn't confuse things - maybe in a later version Scott? I'm also still having connect problems. I was able to connect to my remote computer and even take control of it on 2 occasions but ever since I get Sorry your GetEngaged partner could not be connected with etc--- I don't know what the problem is but it seems to have to do with an error in the partnership or registration files or how the demoproxy (in my case) handles those files I will try uninstalling completely and starting over.
