Interesting. Do you have any activities that update files in the folders that
you have opened in Krusader? If you close all tabs except one on each panel and
set their paths to '/', does leak happen? I don't recall any other potential
reasons that may cause Krusader actively doing something and eat memory.

Plasma 5.5 is long unmaintained. Please ask in a forum of your distribution how

Wasn't sure which view to file this under, since they're all involved somehow.
After using compact view, switching to details view will show only a blank area
where files should be.  This remains blank when switching to icons view, but
you can switch back to compact view.  Resizing the window doesn't change this.
Pressing F5 does no good.  Behavior remains until dolphin is restarted.

Reproducible: Always

Dolphin version 17.12.3 on Arch x86_64.
Reproduced with both Oxygen and Breeze widget styles.
Window width does seem to make a difference.  For me, it works when the white
space of the files area is 353 or 360 pixels wide (I'm sure many other sizes
too - didn't check; but it didn't work when full screen or when the files area
was about 50% larger.)
(Probably not relevant, but I use "Use common properties for all folders" under
General : View preferences.)

Steps to reproduce:
0) Set dolphin to a suitable size and use details view.  Close it.
1) Run 'dolphin /usr/bin'
2) Scroll to the bottom of this details view.
3) Click compact view.
4) Click back to details view.

Results:
Details view is now blank - no files showing.  Number of files shows up in
status bar at the bottom, and there's plenty of white scrolling space, but
nothing is shown.

Bonus:
5) Now click on icons view: same thing (blank) but lots of scroll space as if
there were something to see.

Krita also works normally if used on the 4k display.

This issue occurs in all monitor configurations, though horizontal arrangements
cause a vertical offset not horizontal as shown in the linked image

I have setup a 2160p monitor and a 1080p pen display. Moving the cursor in the
window responds as expected, but on the canvas in offsets the brush
proportionately to the pen/mouse/cursor's distance across the screen

this persists from 4.0.0, but did not occur in 3.3.3

Ha. Nope, I can't reproduce THAT one anymore, either in 17.12.3 or the older
4.x version.  (Though in trying to reproduce it, I came across another worse
bug in 17.12.3 that is reproducible.  I'll have to see if it's already been

While this may sound good in theory, that's not how almost all applications out
there behave when you resize their window. The view stays anchored to the top
left, and more UI will be revealed at the bottom right.

If we were to interfere with that, that would be highly confusing and in most
cases not what users expect. If at all, this would need to be changed in a
systematic way across all apps (i.e. in the general interaction design, aka
HIG).

As a workaround moving focus or selection should bring the item back into the
viewport after it was hidden.

Failure report for Memcheck 3.14.0.GIT on High Sierra

I built the HEAD of Valgrind (3.14.0.GIT) via Homebrew, in order to use it on
my recently upgraded MacOSX High Sierra system.  When I run Memcheck with my
application, it crashes out with the attached log file.  The key line is

valgrind: m_debuginfo/debuginfo.c:452 (void
discard_or_archive_DebugInfo(DebugInfo *)): Assertion 'is_DebugInfo_active(di)'
failed.

I can confirm that my application (a Geant4 executable) and its associated
shared libraries are all built with debugging symbols included.

Given the various ongoing problems with High Sierra, I marked this as an
OS-specific issue, probably not a general "bug" in Valgrind.

I deleted ~/.local/share/user-places.xbel, it was automatically recreated, and
now Dolphin, Kickoff, and Gwenview show the same stuff in Places. The bookmarks
I added in Dolphin only showed up in Kickoff after relogin though.

Yep, confirm logout is checked. When I try to logout there is a confirmation
dialog. When I select shutdown in Kickoff there is a confirmation dialog. When
I accidentally press the power button it shuts down immediately.

This happens always but needs to be replicated exactly.
I have only tested it with details view and inline rename enabled.

1. Open dolphin at any path that belongs to the active user
2. Select (just highlight) an item, file or folder, that has write permission
(thus can be renamed)
3. Click the same item and drag it towards a panel or the address bar (I always
drop it as a move operation but the bug happens  before that)
4. Notice that an inline rename has been initiated during the drag operation.
5. Drop the item so as to move it to another folder
6. Notice that the inline rename is still there even though the item was moved
and the total items are reduced by one.

Here is the serious part of the bug:
The inline rename is now for the **next** item on the list. The pre-filled
filename is that of the moved file. Thus if any action validates the rename
operation (a click, enter, or anything else), a file (or folder, this applies
to any item that is rename-able) is renamed by accident to the name of the
moved file. The only option at that point is to press ESC.

A typical case for me that causes this error:
A folder with a long list of files in it. I'm looking for a certain file, so I
just type the first few letters to automatically select it. The file is now
highlighted. I click to move it and... the bug appears.
A work around I usually use is: once a file is selected, I cut via keyboard,
then right click on the destination to paste.

I wanted to add a new layer via the [+] button. The "menu" opens but there's no
text. Please see attached video.

I'm not sure about the reproducability, though.

Deleting the account and adding it again seems to work around the issue. But
only for some unknown amount of time. But weeks or months later it gets stuck
again.

## Overview

Some file managers like Nautilus offer the ability to assign keyboard shortcuts
to creating new files (in analogy to creating a new folder). I would propose
that Dolphin offer a similar feature-set, as I think it would greatly enhance
Dolphin's keyboard usability.

I find myself creating new text files quite often, and navigating through the
context menu to eventually get to the relevant entry always feels like a chore.
Contrast that to Nautilus where I had bound the same action of creating an
empty text file to Ctrl+Shift+E, creating a very streamlined workflow for -
what I feel is - a very commonly used action.

## Implementation ideas

As Dolphin does come with quite a few templates by default, it might make sense
to initially limit the scope of this to creating text files, as that is
probably the most commonly used file creation choice. Ideally users would be
able to set up a custom key binding for each template through Dolphin's
existing shortcut assignment menu. But if that is too complex to implement, I
think that most users would also be happy with a hardcoded default.

problem seems specific to plasma-workspace

I should of realised it was systemsettings5,

Nothing is reported when I issue QSG_INFO=1 systemsettings5, systemsettings
opens up.
So I then opened the configure option to generate some info and the attached
was sent to the shell.
