[Powerdevil] [Bug 410799] Screen poweroff does not poweroff external monitors, only laptop display

2019-08-10 Thread Tim Richardson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410799

Note: the Button events handling option "Even when an external monitor is
connected" is related to the problem. I normally have it cleared, so that I can
close the laptop lid when working at my desk.

But if I select this option, then the Screen Energy Saving timeout DOES
poweroff all three monitors.

I do not think this behaviour is expected. The layout of the "Even when an
external monitor is connected" checkbox is nested under Button events handling,
so it does not appear to be related to the Screen Energy Saving setting.
I agree with the layout: suspend or merely turn off laptop display when the lid
is closed is independent of screen energy saving. The "Even when an external
monitor is connected" checkbox should not affect the Screen Energy Saving
setting in my opinion.

Hi Rob,

I tested a version of the script that generates the WCS file as "solution.wcs",
and now the error changed to "WCS header missing or corrupted. Solver failed.",
using the internal wcsinfo.
If I configure Ekos to use /Applications/Astrometry.app/Contents/MacOS/wcsinfo,
Ekos logs "Solver completed in 6 seconds.", but the solving process in Ekos
keeps running.

Any idea of what might be happening? Do I need another script for wcsinfo?

Thanks,

Hi Rob,

I updated the script to generate the files according to the names used by Ekos'
internal solve-field.
But I have a couple of questions:
1- The WCS file must be named as "solution.wcs" or could be the FITS file name
with extension .wcs?
2- The file with .new extension is the updated FITS file with the WCS
information (output of new-wcs), right?

Finally, do you expect a return value from the solve-field, or only the
generated files in the T temp directory?

Thanks,
Andre

Couldn't test it on KDE (coz it's borked on this machine for some
reason--personal issues), but can confirm that the bug still occurs on Openbox
and herbsluftwm. I checked to make sure it was only 4.2.5 doing it on them as
well, and that is also confirmed.

[digikam] [Bug 410796] Convert to PNG - Fail to Process Item/Create File

2019-08-10 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410796

Once I changed the working color space in Digikam Settings to normal sRGB, the
conversion to PNG worked.

I guess this brings up a question - why is this special version of sRGB 2.1
available in Digikam Settings, but not in the Batch Queue Settings?

Digikam Settings
- Color Management
-- Enabled
- Working Color Space = sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (sRGB Profile.icc)
- When the profile of an image does not match the working color space = convert
- When an image has no color profile information = assume it is sRGB, convert
to working color space = check
When loading a RAW file with uncalibrated colors = Automatic color correction

Batch Queue Settings
- Color Management
-- Camera Profile = None (camera saves RAW as sRGB)
-- Workspace = sRGB

What do you mean saying "doze mode". For sure screen was turned off. I didn't

"KDE Connect", whereas in Notification only "close". So if in KDE Connect
works, then why in "Notification" doesn't?

Summary: Krita will occasionally stop receiving input events.
   Product: krita
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org

SUMMARY
Occasionally Krita will stop responding to input events.

- Freehand brush won't work.

- Assistant Editor Tool does start with drawing an assistant, but you cannot
finish an assistant.

Dmitry already observed this during the sprint and put extra debug into my
krita build.

Yes, tested. With these RAW settings, the conversion to PNG fails because of

[kwin] [Bug 410795] "Focus prevention: High" prevents windows from being raised, despite independent raise & focus preference

2019-08-10 Thread Rickard Westman
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410795

Perhaps the function should just be renamed "focus stealing and raise
prevention"? Or at least, mention that they are connected in the help? When
the settings otherwise allow focus and raise operations to be independent, it's
very confusing that they are forcibly connected here without any mention of
that being the case.

This is no problem for me personally, now, since I can live with changing the
focus & raise prevention level to medium. Then I can successfully launch
applications from one part of KDE without another part of KDE working against
me. But I would never had found that solution myself, i.e. changing a
focus-related setting to solve a problem that has nothing to do with focus
behavior.

I will test it afterwards, but probably a problem of the color profile. Libpng
now has a very strict color profile check and refuses to save invalid color
profiles for libpng. Add a color profile conversion before converting to PNG
and choose e.g. an sRGB profile.

I have now uploaded a set of small photos (250) and a set of large photos (250)
where the upload took about an hour, I could not reproduce the problem.

I already use the pre-release version digiKam-6.3.0 where we have fixed an
error, that the upload fails if there are quotes in the metadata of the images
of title or description. Is that possibly the case with you?

I'm sorry, but our understanding of focus stealing is also preventing windows
from raising itself. I assume you don't experience this with all apps. If I am
right, please report the issue to the affected applications: they shouldn't try
to raise themselves. This is important as Wayland doesn't allow changes of
stacking order.

SUMMARY

After moving from DigiKam 5.9 to DigiKam 6.1 and now 6.2, converting from CR2
to PNG fails when using the same Batch settings. It seems to fail to write to
NAS.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. In Thumbnails, add one CR2 file to Current Queue (#1)
2. In Batch Mananger, adjust Queue Settings
- Target
-- Create new Album under existing album and select that album as destination.
- Behavior

- Assigned Tools = Convert to PNG
3. Press Run All

OBSERVED RESULT

History shows 4 items
"Failed to process item..."

I had the same problem, as Rob knows.

After I upgraded to v3.3.3 and v3.3.4, the problem went away completely. Did a
fresh install of Python 3 and of HomeBrew, and then checked the Setup button in
the astrometry panel. All works fine now.

Have tried it both on an iMac and on my macBook Air. No more problems.

Hi Rob,

I tried KStars 3.3.4, and even installed the required Python libraries using
Mac Ports, but I couldn't make it work. Even the workaround (replacement of the
astrometry directory with the one from the older version of KStars) that I used
with previous versions.

Alternatively, I started to work on the plate solving script (solve-field.sh,
based on the one from CCDciel), to use the internal astrometry engine from
Astrometry.app.
I managed to make it produce the required WCS file in the T temp directory, but
I'm still receiving the "Solver failed. Try again." message from Ekos. I also
tried to replace the wcsinfo with the one that comes with Astrometry.app
(/Applications/Astrometry.app/Contents/MacOS/wcsinfo).

[kwin] [Bug 410795] New: "Focus prevention: High" prevents windows from being raised, despite independent raise & focus preference

2019-08-10 Thread Rickard Westman
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410795

Bug ID: 410795
Summary: "Focus prevention: High" prevents windows from being
raised, despite independent raise & focus preference
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.12.8
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: rwest...@bredband.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

For some time, I've been annoyed by new application instances opening their
windows *underneath* my existing windows instead of on top of them, with a new
yellow-tinted icon appearing in the icons-only task manager instead of merging
with the one I clicked. I was at a loss understanding where this annoying
behavior came from, until I found a forum post where someone explained that it
could be caused by focus prevention policy. I had indeed changed that, but had
no idea that focus prevention would affect depth order. It is hardly
self-explanatory, is not stated in the help text, and isn't something I want
given my preference to have focus and depth order independent of each other
("click to focus" and "click raises active window" both turned off).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Under "Windows Management / Window Behavior / Focus", set "Focus stealing
prevention" to "High", uncheck "Click raises active window", set "Focus Policy"
to "Focus Follows Mouse - Mouse Precedence".

2. Ensure you have the current workspace covered with windows (to make it clear
whether a newly opened window is opened above or below other windows), and an
application focused that is not Konsole.

3. Go to the icons-only task manager and middle click on the Konsole icon to
open a new instance of Konsole.

OBSERVED RESULT

The new Konsole window opens below the existing windows, and a new
yellow-tinted icon appears indicating that focus prevention took place for this
window.

EXPECTED RESULT

The new Konsole window should open on top of the other windows, regardless of
focus prevention.

The touch docker should let you resize your brushes with two buttons, but
neither seem to work for me, even after updating to 4.2.5. I tried with my

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

[plasmashell] [Bug 410570] Plasma crash after start

2019-08-10 Thread Andreas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410570

As suggested by command line output the problem has been related to the printer
configuration. Deleting one of them using the printer systemsettings dialog
removed the problem. Probably plasma should not crash for that reason ...

The hide/unhide option mentioned above can be achieved by setting the opacity
to 0 in the current version. Which works well enough for me. Huge disadvantage:
You have to remember where your hidden reference images are since there's no
way to see a list of reference images.

Git commit 239f574c5b2fe1367406f7ccecd31f491ce46a5e by Nate Graham, on behalf
of Ismael Asensio.
Committed on 10/08/2019 at 15:48.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'Plasma/5.16'.

Fix #410744: Duplicate results when a 2nd unit is partially written in krunner

Summary:
When typing a conversion, and the second unit is partially written (i.e. "10€
to ru..." the results are duplicated by several times. This behavior happens
with different categories of units (lenght, currency, ...) and on different
languages.

The problem is that a new result is being added not once for every matching
unit, but once for every matching stringUnit, generating the duplicates.

Before:
{F7202568}

After:
{F7202571}

This is my first attempt to build kde from source and commit the diff to
phabricator, so please excuse any possible mistakes.

Test Plan:
Open krunner and type any conversion with a letter for the second unit: "10€ to
r"
Result for each matching second unit is only shown one time

The Google API has a upload limit of 50 images per batch. I think we are doing
it right. As a test I had already tried 70 images in one piece. What happens if
you stay under 50 images?
