so another thing I noticed, gtk-chtheme works but as long as you launch the
apps from the menu, if you launch them using a command from terminal of from
the drop down launcher it doesn't work. This is clearly a variable that's
messing up the system. But I don't know where to look it's not .bashrc, nor
.profile nor, gtk-2.0 nor gtk-2.0-kde4

the bug looks the same as you, if I use the preview window the gtk2 theme
applies but I think that I don't know why, but the gtk2 apps are trying to use
the gtk3 theme instead, maybe they are defaulting to the gtk3 theme for some
reason I don't know. If I change the file in .config/gtk-3.0/settings , it
doesn't work, I don't know where the gtk2 apps are reading the theme settings.

with plasma rather a bug of some component of the system not sure.

If you don't want to cmopile krunner from source (for that, see

install KDE Neon Unstable edition in a VM after a few days and test in there.

Summary: remote input from laptop not working on Xubuntu
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: android-application
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: alejo_guita...@yahoo.com.ar
  Target Milestone: ---

Even when the plugin is active in my desktop app, and the virtual keyboard is
selected (and permission granted) in android, there's no way to input text on
the cell phone using my laptop's keyboard. I've read that there's some box to
write that I can find on the desktop tray, but I can not find it in any menu.

Additionally, when I press "help" to know which version number I'm using on the
desktop app, nothing pops up.
I'm using a Lenovo Ideapad with Xubuntu 18.04, and my cell phone is a Blu Vivo
XI+ with Android 8

[kwin] [Bug 419235] Plasma + Wayland Alacritty Decoration/Title Bar Has Gap Between Window Unless Maximized/Resized or Moved

another wayland debug cargo log - this time with actions

Sorry for the spammed messages, thought it might be more helpful/useful to give
a bit more information. Here's a longer wayland debug log captured as follows:

When running the cargo test the application first appears with two titlebars,
the kwin titlebar ontop of the CSD titlebar. Interacting with the CSD titlebar
produces no feedback. If one minimizes the window using the kwin title bar
decorations and then brings back to focus the window still has both title bars.

If I then actually move the application window, click and drag the window on
the screen, the CSD title bar disappears but leaves the gap between the kwin
decoration titlebar that I originally opened this ticket for.

I've attached the log of me doing the above here.

Maik,

Good Q. I remember somebody reporting a bug about this a completely opposite
way, if i'm not too wrong: never store the last main view mode between
sessions.

Right ?

The Q is : what's the risk and why this specific behavior.

If this is true, well, this will require another settings to customize this
behavior, and of course, later 7.0.0.

I suppose Glen meant /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_CA.
I think that statement is misleading though. I do not know what solved the
problem with en_CA, and I do think the actual bug was algorithmic, but I
imagine the change which caused the behavior to change is a change in locale
definition. However, Qt (QLocale) has its own locale definitions (coming from
CLDR).

I'm sorry, I am guessing this is a patch you want me to apply? I am not a

me through without taking too much of your time, I'm game- but I'd
understand if not.

Kwrite: hold '1' key CPU load - Normal vs C++

When I hold a number key to enter some long number in C++, kwrite/kate starts
to lag and one of the CPU cores immediately loads up to 100%.

Problem is specific to C++/ISO C++ syntax. C, Rust, Java, JavaScript, for
example, are not affected.

See attached video for example.

Git commit 86e3b82efbbcdb287773cdaf6a5f4c1c22bb9fc6 by Elvis Angelaccio, on
behalf of Yann Holme-Nielsen.
Committed on 29/06/2020 at 22:27.
Pushed by elvisangelaccio into branch 'master'.

## Summary
* Adds a "Copy location" item, after the "Copy" Context item and Edit Menu,
which will attempt to copy the path of the fist item into clipboard.

## Reasoning
Most File Managers have this option through one or another way.
Also using the default Copy option often results in different behaviour
depending on the target software, Konsole will take the path. Other Programs
will use the URI. Which ultimately could lead to non optimal User Experience.

## Notes
* Should the target file **not** be on a local hard drive, this fallback to
using the remote URL, feedback is wanted on that matter.

OK, now I understand.

As described here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ClipboardPersistence
you need some kind of Clipboard Manager.

If you disable Clipper plasmoid/applet, then it closes service, exactly as you
described. If you don't want to see the icon, you can just set icon to "Always
hidden" so that it won't take space on main view.

>From the other side system tray icon can be only an interface for backend
service. Unfortunately this is a bigger change... KDED daemon, rewrite Klipper
and plasmoid. Definitely worth considering!

SUMMARY
once in a while, the remote input will not work, both as mouse and keyboard
input.
Restarting the android application does not seems to fix it; the phone is
connected to the wifi/internet/other end; also the PC side is responsive and
can be used.
This happen randomly BUT also when i receive a notification (like a message),
until the notification animation/preview disappear or is swiped away

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. receive a message with preview on
2. try to use the remote input while the message preview is disaplayed

OBSERVED RESULT
PC is not responsive, then all input arrive all together (that is even more
annoying than get lost, as random thing will happen. "Action" that are older
than a couple seconds should be discarded).

work normally

I must disagree. Given that a number of programs that used to terminate no
longer do so, it seems reasonable to assume there is a common problem. That
problem may be outside of ksmserver, however. It would be nice to narrow
things down. Can you (David) confirm that no processes linger on your system?

Here's a list of lingering programs after logout on this system (now with

> If gvfs lingers, that lies with gvfs.

Is that true for the others too?

> If logout scripts are broken make a new report.

Fair enough, let's ignore those in this bug report.

Given that it's not possible to log in after logging out (unless the processes
are manually killed), the "not a bug" status is incorrect.

BTW: the original report mentioned shutdown waits for 2 minutes. This is after
the display manager has exited - it's one of the system scripts waiting for
user processes to terminate so partitions can be unmounted. It's not Plasma
waiting for 2 minutes.

I can try to reproduce this on Neon Live USB (maybe next weekend if I don't
forget). Although, it is likely that it will work there and this is some system
misconfiguration (as I've said I don't understand what is mounting it, plasma
automounter seems to be off).

If I can't reproduce this, then maybe worth asking Neon developers?

KDirModel: fix hasChildren() regression for trees with hidden files, symlinks,
pipes and character devices

This is a follow up to commit fe87d932 which fixed hasChildren() for
directories with regular files in them.
With this commit not only directories with regular files in them are considered
as non empty but also directories containing hidden files, symlinks, pipes and
character devices.

   Version: 17.12.3
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: m...@baloneygeek.com
  Reporter: corrado.me...@gmail.com
CC: k...@david-redondo.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

When choosing the "Rectangular Region" Capture Mode Area, (regardless of "on
click" activated or not), when dragging the mouse the area is not visible.
Any change in the "Rectangular Region" settings in the program preferences does
not fix the problem.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Setup Spectacle as above
2. Click, hold and start dragging
3. Release the click

OBSERVED RESULT
Mouse cursor correctly changes shape to a "+" while dragging.
No area is visibly highlighted.
On release, the mouse cursor changes shape to an open hand where the captured
region should be, to corner drag pointer where the upper left / lower right
corner of the selection should be, to a closed fist when clicking inside where
the selection should be to drag it.
Captured area is successfully available in the program after double click /
"Enter" keypress.

EXPECTED RESULT
As above, but with visible highlighted area.

[Akonadi] [Bug 423672] org.kde.pim.imapresource: Failed to create folder on server: "Create failed, server replied: ... NO Mailbox already exists ... [ ALREADYEXISTS ]"

2020-06-29 Thread Dennis Schridde
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423672

P.S. Expected behaviour on code-level: When the error is ALREADYEXISTS, Akonadi
should consider the creation of the mailbox successful and continue the sync,
i.e. mailbox creation should be idempotent.

[Akonadi] [Bug 423672] New: org.kde.pim.imapresource: Failed to create folder on server: "Create failed, server replied: ... NO Mailbox already exists ... [ ALREADYEXISTS ]"

2020-06-29 Thread Dennis Schridde
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423672

Bug ID: 423672
Summary: org.kde.pim.imapresource: Failed to create folder on
server: "Create failed, server replied: ... NO Mailbox
already exists ... [ ALREADYEXISTS ]"
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 5.14.2
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: devuran...@gmx.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

It appears that the Akonadi IMAP resource aborts synchronisation with a server
if a mailbox it is supposed to create already exists: When I try to
synchronise one of my IMAP accounts from KMail, the synchronisation quickly
aborts and on the console where ran `akonadictl restart` I see:
org.kde.pim.imapresource: Failed to create folder on server: "Create failed,
server replied: A000239 NO Mailbox already exists ( 0.001 + 0.000 secs ) . [
ALREADYEXISTS ]"

It could be that the mailbox was created through another Akonadi IMAP resource
on another computer, or it could have been created by the same Akonadi IMAP
resource on this computer, but with it crashing during the sync.

For examples of reports of the latter, see these bugs:

* bug #418593
* bug #418595
* bug #418599
* bug #418912

STEPS TO REPRODUCE (assumption)

1. Create a new folder for an IMAP account using an Akonadi client
2. Have Akonadi go out of sync with the IMAP server
3. Have the folder already on the IMAP server, e.g. due to an incomplete sync
4. Try to synchronise the Akonadi IMAP resource with that same server

OBSERVED RESULT

* org.kde.pim.imapresource: Failed to create folder on server: "Create failed,
server replied: A000239 NO Mailbox already exists ( 0.001 + 0.000 secs ) . [
ALREADYEXISTS ]"
* Emails are not being synchronised to my computer

EXPECTED RESULT

* No error output in the console where I started `akonadictl restart`
* Synchronisation with the IMAP server succeeds and the freshest emails are
available for me on my computer

[kwin] [Bug 422549] Default window sizes not scaled with scale factor

2020-06-29 Thread Christoph Feck
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422549

The window manager cannot know if the application has provided a correct window
size or not. To me, this is a WONTFIX (needs to be fixed in applications to
report a proper window size, or in Qt if it needs to report the scaled size).

Copy/paste works without clipboard service.
Main feature of clipboard service is ability to paste text when application
that copied text to clipboard is exited.
Without service clipboard is cleared when application that copied text is
exited.

Try disable icon, copy text from any application and close it. You can't paste
just copied text anywhere but ought to be.

[frameworks-knewstuff] [Bug 417510] Update of icons set doesn't work

2020-06-29 Thread Piotr Mierzwinski
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417510

I noticed that in case of "Global Themes" for option "Installed only" is
showing nothing. The same in option "Updateable only". I have in local
directory ("~/.local/share/plasma/look-and-feel") couple themes. No one is
achievable in both mentioned option. Among others I have such: "Moddzik". In
option "Show
Everything" I found it, but I cannot uninstall it. I have only option
"Install".

Second thing is "Plasma Style". Here happens the same. I have a lot installed
styles locally ("~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme") and using option
"Installed only" I can see empty view. I suppose option "Updateable only"
doesn't work, as well. I'm going to check every one to find is any of them has
update or not.

Seems this still doesn't work correctly.
