When I want to restart Plasma without restarting the whole system I do

kquitapp5 plasmashell
kstart plasmashell

kstart isn't installed by default.

What I tried now: uninstall kde-runtime then

sudo apt-get --purge autoremove

Then I copied a large folder, no change.

kdevelop (5.5.40) using Qt 5.15.0

- What I was doing when the application crashed:

KDevelop was re-parsing code after I switched from a Debug-build-type directory
and back again. I decided to quit KDevelop, then start it again as this often
speeds the parsing up. However KDevelop crashed during exit with the attached
backtrace.

[clazy] [Bug 423728] New: inefficient-qlist fails on 32bit architectures

2020-07-01 Thread Pino Toscano
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423728

Bug ID: 423728
Summary: inefficient-qlist fails on 32bit architectures

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: p...@kde.org
CC: smart...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When testing clazy 1.7, the inefficient-qlist test fails when run on 32bit
Linux architectures; this is similar/related to the old bug 401494 and bug
413169.
Because of the changes done for bug 413169, it does not fail on x86, however it
still fails on other 32bit architectures (e.g. arm, mips, powerpc).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. build clazy on a 32bit Linux architecture different than x86
2. run the test suite, either from the build directory, or after installation

OBSERVED RESULT
These are the outputs on armhf, and (sort of different name in library
directory) they are the same also on the other affected architectures:

EXPECTED RESULT
inefficient-qlist & inefficient-qlist-soft pass on any architecture.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
IMHO the change done for bug 413169 was more a workaround than a real fix;
ideally the test output should be adapted to whatever is the actual size of
QVariant.

That left me with a non-working desktop - menu bar gone, window decorations not
working - I could only kill the x-Session. and it did not show the lock screen

father's computer and he pays for that application. Is it impossible for me
to properly use krita even if I keep that installed?

I normally only upload the needed appx variant to the store.

Not sure if that is accessible via a stable url without the store.

We can ask Hannah.

Just happened again, when I had issues with my internet connection due to

When opening the applet, the whole Plasma Desktop froze for quiet some time
(increasing the frustration over the non-working internet even more).
However, switching the TTY, killing '/usr/bin/networkmanager' and switching
back, made the desktop instantaneously smooth again.

Any idea how to debug this for you? This is really annoying. :-(

  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: xrandr

  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 129813

Rendering artifacts in console (simplest to reproduce)

SUMMARY

When using the global scale dail in the settings, and setting it to anything
other than 100%, some applications start to flicker and on other parts of the
screeen I get rendering artifacts. In the attached screenshot you can see these
artifacts in the console.

This problem makes it unusable, and to work on 100% scaling on a 4K screen
isn't really fun either.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

KDE doesn't ship any template for creating libreoffice documents AFAIK.

(Well, calligra comes with templates for ODF files, but they don't have any
mention of "LibreOffice"... ;-) )

So this is rather an issue in your distribution IMHO.
Reassigning to KDE Neon therefore.

You should be able to find the template files in /usr/share/templates/ (and
/usr/share/templates/.source/) though, I suppose.

Git commit 15bb50e2ec5c6438eb13c012de1ccf177f3e98e4 by Ralf Habacker.

Pushed by habacker into branch 'release/20.04'.

Fix 'Class Diagram Widget Text Truncated Upon Re-Opening XMI' on Windows 10

In ClassifierWidget::drawMembers() and ClassifierWidget::paint() the text
width is now calculated from the width of the widget instead of using the
QFontMetric instance, which fails under certain conditions on Windows 10.

[Baloo] [Bug 333433] Indexer should auto exclude external-media in /home

kf5-baloo-5.68.0, FreeBSD 12.1-RELEASE-p6, installed from package (not
self-compiled)
Hi,

I ran into this when I null-mounted (unionfs) three big source trees into my
$HOME. Although otherwise the handling of these mounts is absolutely stable, I
think it's a bug in FreeBSD: how can an indexer running at lowest priority
(nice 19 and ordinary non-root UID) freeze the whole system? But maybe it's
rooted in some Qt lib, KDE frameworks or baloo, or that one of these uses the
VFS in an incorrect manner.

Symptoms:
1. When an index already exists and baloo is enabled, the whole system becomes
so unresponsive that it's impossible to do anything. I had to force a shutdown
by pressing the power button >4 seconds, reboot, and manually disable baloo in
~/.config/baloofilerc.
2. When no index exists and baloo gets enabled, the system becomes very
sluggish, like described in the initial bug report, some windows do not refresh
correctly, besides that the system & GUI is more or less usable.
3. Stopping a running baloo indexer with 'balooctl purge' fails, neither does
'balooctl disable' help. It has to be killed manually.

Workaround (does not hurt in my case since source code is not indexed anyway):
1. kill baloo and delete an existing index: 'balooctl purge'
2. Add the union-mount directories to excluded dirs in systemconfig
   -> ~/.config/baloofilerc:exclude folders[$e]=$HOME/Projects/FreeBSD/src
3. Enable baloo in systemconfig

I do reopen this bug, and it would be great if someone with deeper knowledge of
VFS handling adds some comment on this.
My /etc/fstab:
/src/13-CUR /home/paul/Projects/FreeBSD/src/13-CUR unionfs
rw,late,below,noatime 0 0
/src/12-STABLE /home/paul/Projects/FreeBSD/src/12-STABLE unionfs

Bug ID: 423734
Summary: Unable to move objects with mouse pointer after using
middle mouse button
   Product: step
   Version: 20.04
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: ks.vladi...@gmail.com
  Reporter: mr_chris_joe_...@libero.it
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
After clicking using the middle button of the mouse to move the canvas it
becomes impossible to drag any object through the use of the mouse pointer,
although it's still possible to right click and to change the position value on
the "Properties" panel.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the program
2. Place any object from the "Palette" panel on the canvas
3. It will be possible to move the object by dragging it using the left mouse
button
4. Click any point on the canvas using the middle mouse button
5. Now it's impossible to do step 3

I haven't tested on other platforms but it seems to be platform-independent and
always reproducible.

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist

SUMMARY

The selection tool offers the ability to save or copy parts of the sheet as a
picture. It would be very helpful to have a third option sending the cutout
strait to the printing system.

I frequently deal with architectural plans and I need a printout of just a few
rooms, not the whole plan. In acroread this is very simple: You just zoom in
and print the current window. In okular there is no easy way, however, it could
be even better by having an extra option in the selection tool.

While that is probably true for many preview types it makes no sense from a UI
POV. There's a setting that allows the user to limit the maximum size for which
previews are generated. The intricate delicacies of performance impacts of
various file types are lost on users, all they'll see is previews generated for
files that shouldn't have them.
e.g. bug #423544

Also, I'm not sure I trust third parties with making the call on whether or not
they have to obey the rules.

To that end I propose we stop honoring IgnoreMaximumSize set in the desktop
file of the thumbnailers. It wasn't documented as a feature anyway it seems.

As I was saying, I greatly appreciate how quickly this was resolved. Given that

as more people look to upgrade. A kind warning on the version 7 install page to
move your current version to be inside of correct folder structure before
uninstalling might be useful.

[digikam] [Bug 423737] New: Album sort in tree view descending instead of ascending

  Platform: MS Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Albums-TreeView

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
After upgrade to MariaDB 10.5.4 albums in the tree view are sorted descending
(Z-A) instead of ascending (A-Z)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Upgraded MariaDB to latest stable version 10.5.4
2. Rebuild the database within digikam

OBSERVED RESULT
I upgraded to the latest stable MariaDB on my Windows PC and it didn't went as
smooth as expected, so I had to rebuild the digikam database. After the fresh
scan of my picture library the tree view of albums is in the descending order -
before it was in ascending (sub albums also). Sorting albums by date on the
other hand works OK. Could this be due to the new version of database used and
is it possible to change this somehow?

EXPECTED RESULT
I would like to see albums sorted by ascending order as before (or maybe even
have an option to choose ascending/descending?)

Note: editing text shape restores the Stroke.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Make sure you have light foreground color and dark background color (you can
invert default colors on the toolbar).
2. Create text shape. Note it's ugly. Tool Options lies that there is no
Stroke, but if you click on "None", the outline will disappear.
3. Edit text. Note that the outline appeared again.

[krita] [Bug 423741] New: Saving to ORA is broken

2020-07-01 Thread Manga Tengu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423741

Bug ID: 423741
Summary: Saving to ORA is broken
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.3.0
  Platform: macOS Disk Images
OS: macOS
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: File formats
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mangate...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Save a file in kra format result in various data losses: in one file I had only
empty layers and offset image (the offset is cropped so it's definitely lost).
In some files I only had the offset...

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Draw
2. save as ORA
3. open the ORA file

OBSERVED RESULT
A corrupted image. Openable with the right layer structure but missing content

EXPECTED RESULT
A useable file with everything ora supports in place

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
macOS: catalina 10.15.5 on a 2018 15' macbook pro

I misstyped kra into ora (k and o are close) and I lost a drawing (completely
empty layers) Maybe that's a dangerous short-circuit ?

* This is only about ora, right? Not .kra like you say in the first page?
* Could you start Krita from Terminal.app like
/Applications/krita/MacOS/Content/krita (or was it
/Applications/krita/Content/MacOS/krita ?) and check whether there are errors
like this:

libpng warning: Image width is zero in IHDR
libpng warning: Image height is zero in IHDR
libpng error: Invalid IHDR data

I have just checked by saving a complex .kra file as ora, and one layer was
invalid and both the mergedimage.png and the preview.png seemed corrupt.
