Darn.

This situation with Qt scaling is intensely frustrating to me. It's used by
default on Wayland, but not X11--even though it results in Plasma generally
looking much better on X11 when scaled.

[plasmashell] [Bug 427013] New: Cannot change wallpaper if it has the same name as one of the built-in wallpapers

2020-09-26 Thread tildearrow
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427013

Bug ID: 427013
Summary: Cannot change wallpaper if it has the same name as one
of the built-in wallpapers
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.19.90
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: tildear...@protonmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Apparently it becomes impossible to use an image as wallpaper if it has a name
that coincides with one of the built-in wallpapers'.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Load a wallpaper with the name of `elarun.png` (as an example)
2. Set the wallpaper to elarun (note: not the Elarun wallpaper that comes with
Plasma wallpapers but the elarun.png you loaded) and click on Apply
3. The default Plasma wallpaper (Shell) loads instead of elarun.png

OBSERVED RESULT
The default Plasma wallpaper (Shell) loads instead of elarun.png

EXPECTED RESULT
elarun.png should be loaded

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: N/A
macOS: N/A
Linux/KDE Plasma: Linux linux 5.4.61-rt37-1-rt-lts #1 SMP PREEMPT_RT Sat, 12
Sep 2020 21:01:23 + x86_64 GNU/Linux/5.19.90
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I would suggest to **not** close the issue only because there already is an
Elarun wallpaper bundled with Plasma.
Furthermore, what if I add a wallpaper that by coincidence has an identical
name?

Effectively, doing that fixes the issue (it does make the icons slightly bigger
but it's much better).
I don't think there is any way to have Plasma use the Qt scaling value at login
time though...

2020-09-26 Thread Pushkar
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427011

Bug ID: 427011
Summary: Widgets overlap files saved on desktop
   Product: frameworks-kconfigwidgets
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

widget file overlap image

SUMMARY
I have multiple widgets on my desktop and when I download and save anything on
the desktop, it is saved linearly which causes the widget and file overlap. It
gets tough to navigate to that file through the GUI. Obviously if I try to
click on that file it opens up the widget settings.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Place widget right in the location of where the next file will be saved.
2. Try opening the file by clicking on the file itself.

OBSERVED RESULT
The widget window pops up(if it exists) or can't click that file

EXPECTED RESULT
Should arrange the files and widgets without overlaps

2020-09-26 Thread Alexander Potashev
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427010

Bug ID: 427010
Summary: Inconsistent context menu for Folder View containment
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.18.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Folder
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: aspotas...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Inconsistent context menu for Folder View containment: RMB click vs LMB
hold+RMB click.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Pick Folder View as desktop containment (set by default on Fedora.)
2. Click and hold left mouse button somewhere on the desktop, but not on any
file/folder icon.
3. Click right mouse button.

OBSERVED RESULT
A context menu opens that only contains a few items related to file management
(New, Paste, Undo, Refresh desktop, Open in Dolphin). Other items from the
regular context menu are missing.

EXPECTED RESULT
The context menu should contain the same items as in the standard context menu
available via simple right mouse button click, i.e. should also include
Plasma-related stuff like "Add Widgets...".

Could you try disabling the notifications plugin? Since the desktop crashes

Maybe not for now though, the flag is still considered experimental (you have
to prefix it with -Xclang). It worked for me, but maybe it's not
production-ready.

There was a proposal to include the builtin header by default, but it got
stalled because of this apparently. (https://reviews.llvm.org/D78979)

Or we use -fdeclare-opencl-builtins. (https://reviews.llvm.org/D60763)

Supposedly the header takes very long to parse and this flag uses builtin
declarations instead. Apparently one still has to include opencl-c-base.h
though.

You're absolutely right! After doing some research, this behavior was
intentionally implemented in Firefox 75. It got reported as a bug

adding the possibility of setting the variable

Please install the missing QML packages from the terminal errors and try again.
Apparently, your package manager does not install the QML packages for QtQuick

This is a problem that needs to be solved by the respective packagers.

[systemsettings] [Bug 427007] New: Add manual mode to night color

2020-09-26 Thread Karl-Johan Karlsson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427007

Bug ID: 427007
Summary: Add manual mode to night color
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_nightcolor
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: creideiki+kdeb...@ferretporn.se
CC: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I want to manually control when night color is activated. The closest I have
been able to get is:

1. In System settings -> Display and monitor -> Night color, set activation
time to "Always on".
2. In the panel, add a Night color control plasmoid.
3. Click the plasmoid when I want to turn night color on or off.

This has worked so far, except for activating night color on every login, which
is not a huge problem because it only happens after rebooting for kernel
upgrades.

However, tonight night color is inhibited by some unknown thing and forging
magic cookies to "qdbus org.kde.KWin /ColorCorrect
org.kde.kwin.ColorCorrect.uninhibit" doesn't enable it. I could continue
fighting the inhibition system, or try adding a new DBus interface to show the
inhibitor list, but instead of adding workarounds to workarounds I have a
feature request: add a manual mode, which ignores the inhibitor system entirely
and just features an on/off switch in the panel. Remembering the last status
and re-applying that at login (instead of always activating it) would be a
bonus.

@attila, could you run in a command line (Konsole for example) the following
command after your login (as described in your summary):

ps -efj |grep dolphin

to see with which arguments the mysterious instance was launched (is it
launched with "--deamon" or other parameters?). Also the 3rd column will tell
you the process ID of the parent (excepted if it is "1").

In term of end-user experience, why is it a problem to have this additional
problem? In my case I had an unwanted Dolphin window opened, but in your case I
don't see (excepted some memory wasted maybe).

Git commit d15622e1655ba7fcd33479f9677112340b2de7ff by Bart De Vries.
Committed on 26/09/2020 at 13:11.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'release/20.08'.

Fix deadlock when closing gwenview importer

When gwenview_importer is closed after importing files, it gets into a
deadlock. This bug was introduced in commit 4f7d35d1 by the refactoring
of thumbnailprovider and thumbnailgenerator.

The deadlock is caused by the fact that closing the application will
directly trigger a wait() in the thumbnailgenerator thread which will
wait on proper closure of this thread before allowing the application to
exit. However, this thumbnailgenerator thread is, at that moment, in a
QWaitCondition state which is intended to wait on new thumbnails to be
generated.
As far as I can see, this is not a problem in the main gwenview
application because the deadlock will eventually be lifted by the
destruction of the thumbnailgenerator object by the chain of destructors
going from application level down to thumbnailprovider which is the
owner of this object.
In the importer the situation is a bit different. After importing has
finished, the thumbnailpage which is the owner of thumbnailprovider
is not the current widget anymore. It still exists in the background in
case the user presses the "Import more Documents" button. For some
reason the destruction chain doesn't seem to properly trigger the
cancel() function of the thumbnailgenerator object/thread.

The simple solution is to call the cancel() function just before the
wait() function is called when the application emits aboutToQuit().
This is proper behavior, since the thumbnailgenerator should always be
triggered to close down when the application is quitting.

Hi David,

This is probably Firefox itself which remembers the VD and position it was
closed, and sets it up again on opening. It also overrides a kwin rule that
it's set as "apply initially", since the application sets the VD *after* the
rule has effect, so there is not much that can be done on kwin side.

If you open a second firefox instance it should go to your current VD, since
now the application doesn't try to restore its saved session information.

The fact that most of the times the view doesn't move to the VD where the new
instance is open is also probably due to "focus stealing prevention".

2020-09-26 Thread David de Cos

   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.19.5

  Reporter: david.de...@ehu.eus
  Target Milestone: ---

I have had 4 virtual desktops arranged in a 2x2 grid for at least a decade. All
the applications have always been opened in the active virtual desktop (which
is the default behavior, as far as I know). However, three or four months ago
Firefox started opening in the VD where I closed it for the last time.

There is no window rule regarding Firefox, either in systemsettings or
~/.config/kwinrulesrc. I have two rules that affect two other applications, but
none of them has anything to do with remembering the VD where they were closed
(I can't even find that specific setting in the window rules menu).

A couple of things I have noticed:

- Logging off doesn't make it forget where it closed for the last time.

- Let's say I'm in VD 1, but last time I closed Firefox I was in VD 4. If I
launch Firefox, about 90% of the times it will open in VD 4, so I have to go to
VD 4 manually in order to get the Firefox window. However, about 10% of the
times, the desktop cube will rotate automatically and take me to VD 4, without
me doing anything.

I don't expect people being able to reproduce this, because if this happened to
everyone, it would have been noticed (and surely fixed) a long time ago. But I
would be very grateful if someone could point me to the setting, configuration
file or whatever, where this window rule might be hiding. Whatever it is, since
it doesn't show up in the Window Rules list, I believe this to be a proper bug.

I will agree with this model.

I think putting the infastructure in place to add this one model will allow
additional models to be added more easily as they become available in the
future.

It might be good to have a little status indicator to indicate if a GPU is
detected and available for OpenCV to make use of.

[kate] [Bug 426982] Double clicking tabs create a new file

2020-09-26 Thread Grósz Dániel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426982

Accidental double clicks mostly happen when I use a touchpad; I guess it's less
of a problem when one uses a mouse.

Is a "new tab" feature really necessary, whether with an extra button, or with
the double click? In an editor, I normally create a new file with the "New"
button on the toolbar (if not with the shortcut).

Yes, it is terribly slow. I think this is a regression compared to Plasma 5.19.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1
Kernel Version: 5.8.11-arch1-1

[kate] [Bug 426982] Double clicking tabs create a new file

2020-09-26 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426982

An alternative I could think of is to add an explicit "New Tab/Document" button
to the tab bar, as Konsole can do. That way there would be a small but visible
UI for this feature rather than a large invisible one. Your call though. I
don't think the status quo is a huge problem, personally. :)

[konqueror] [Bug 426999] New: Crash when restoring multiple windows/tabs in FontConfig

2020-09-26 Thread Joachim Mairböck
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426999

Bug ID: 426999
Summary: Crash when restoring multiple windows/tabs in
FontConfig
   Product: konqueror
   Version: 5.0.97
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: webenginepart
  Assignee: konq-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: j.mairbo...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: kdeinit5 (5.0.97)

Qt Version: 5.12.7
Frameworks Version: 5.71.0
Operating System: Linux 5.3.18-lp152.41-default x86_64
Windowing system: X11
Distribution: "openSUSE Leap 15.2"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Konqueror just crashed in FontConfig code. I had multiple windows with a few
tabs each to restore from a previous problem.

This looks like mixing WebEngine and KHTML to cause problems with FontConfig.

-- Backtrace:
Application: Konqueror (kdeinit5), signal: Segmentation fault
