Note to the bug, which was merged as duplicate: This is NOT about row / column
alignment of desktop items, but about free positioning of plamoids, i.e. the
timer plasmoid, which is placed in some corner behind a semi-transparent
terminal on my desktop.

In KDE 4 it was easy to start the timer, as there are ~15 Pixel between screen
bottom and terminal bottom. In Plasma 5, the timer placed on the screen bottom
slides up like 10 pixels, leaving only about 5 pixels to click for starting the
timer.

So if the "mark duplicate" was correct, note that the problem is about more
than just the folder view and alignment.

I can reproduce the issue every time I do:
* open composer
* press "Select" button for To/CC/BCC address
* crash.

kmail, kontact, and akonadiserver report version 5.4.0 (I have a KDE neon User

With a fresh install of KDE Neon User Edition (not LTS) with jfs partitions,
after the installation apt recommends autoremoving jfsutils.

This is a bad idea for obvious reasons.

I discovered this after a kernel panic - fsck.jfs was unavailable when I
rebooted.  Upon reinstall (because the filesystem was hosed), the first thing I
did was install vim from a Konsole terminal using apt-get; that was when I
noticed it recommended running 'apt-get autoremove' to remove jfsutils.

I didn't notice this on the first install, but I ran updates and installed a
few things from Discover on the first time around; I'm not sure if it
autoremoves, as I've never used it before.

I haven't tested any other filesystem, as jfs is the only non-ext4 filesystem I
use.  If I recall, the installer offers btrfs and xfs as well.  Those may also
be affected.

Summary: Kdenlive crashes when opening my project with missing video.

I deleted a video from the filesystem which I thought the project wasn't using,
when i tried to open the project the "Clip problems" dialog popped up, where I
removed the missing clip. Pressed OK to continue than application crashed.

Crash does not happen all the time, after a couple of tried I managed to remove
the clip and open the project.

I will bother you one more time. I hope you won't mind.
I started up the live-usb in an old desktop (amd athlon 4400+ cpu, old nvidia
graphic card). The laptop I was talking about yesterday is a seven years old
Dell (intel centrino mobile processor, intel intgrated graphic card). So you
can say these machines are totally different.

I installed partitionmanager in the live-usb on the amd/nvidia desktop and
partitionmanager appeared "ugly and unthemed" as you so accurately put it.

The only thing I may have connected/disconnected while sleeping, is the power
cord (laptop charger).

I mentioned trying it in xterm in my original post --- same results

I suspect that it is an issue related to a konsole terminal since my bash
scripts not interacting with the terminal run fine.

According to the code, the color that is used to darken the inactive tabs is
the WindowText color.

With reverse (dark) themes, this color is bright, so instead of darkening, the
inactive tabs become lighter.

Suggested patch: Change "QPalette::WindowText" to "QPalette::Dark" in
breezestyle.cpp, line 5549.

I use xmodmap to turn my capslock key into a ctrl, my ctrl into an alt, and my
alt into a capslock.  This interferes with KDE keybindings.

Specifically, when I press alt+tab to switch windows, instead of displaying a
window list the window manager takes me back and fourth between the two most
recent windows.  I can assign the key binding like normal using my mapped keys,
just not use it.

As a workaround, I've mapped win+tab to switch windows.  Just submitting this
bug so that you know about this glitch.

Thanks for that wiki link, the instructions there worked fine. After updating
everything and recompiling okular and kile, AND created the new run.sh
environment settings, I was able to run kile with no errors after restoring the
default tools. I now get
./run.sh -v
Version 2.9.60

Using:
KDE Frameworks 5.27.0
Qt 5.7.1 (built against 5.7.0)
The xcb windowing system

The dialog shown in comment #0 is the Qt dialog, not the KDE dialog. If you are
running the Plasma desktop, you need to install plasma-integration and
frameworks-integration. kde-runtime is from KDE4, and won't help with kdenlive.

If you are not running Plasma, you can force using the KDE dialog by running
kdenlive with the XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=KDE variable. For more information, see
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/qt#Configuration_of_Qt5_apps_under_environments_other_than_KDE_Plasma

In either case, the Qt dialog should not show a disabled path selector, so
keeping this open until someone finds the actual issue.

Hi, I have to take back my last comment, I'm not seeing any fading. The screen
goes from full-on straight to black with no fading transition (I assume this is
the lockscreen activating) and then the energy module kicks in and turns off
the screen.

Where is the fade supposed to occur? Before the lockscreen or before the energy
module turns off the screen?

Inform QIconLoader also when the desktop icon theme is changed.

This change is needed because KIconTheme will defer to QIconLoader's
concept of the current icon theme in preference to our own global
config, if that current icon theme is set.

Qt normally leaves it unset but once it starts loading icons through our
platform plugin, it will remember which theme was in use.

This means when we change the configured icon theme, that we would
sometimes accidentally continue to load icons from the old icon theme
(the one remembered by Qt).

Thanks to Wolfgang Bauer for debugging the issue, narrowing the
potential causes of the bug was instrumental in fixing it!

I have an issue with Konsole where executable files give me a "command not
found" error message.

Version 16.04.3
Using:
KDE Frameworks 5.28.0
Qt 5.6.1 (built against 5.6.1)
The xcb windowing system

Example:

$ ls -l
-rwxr-xr-x 1   79 Aug 29 22:16 update.sh
$ update.sh
update.sh: command not found

tried
$ ./update.sh
kf5.kcoreaddons.kaboutdata: Could not initialize the equivalent properties of
Q*Application: no instance (yet) existing.

$ dbus-launch update.sh
Couldn't exec update.sh: No such file or directory

tried
$ dbus-launch ./update.sh

Started the dies very quickly.

It appears that any source that uses the konsole terminal itself during the
running will not run. A debug sound script that just plays all my sound sources
works fine from the command line. A desktop icon that links to a bash script
that uses the konsole terminal for interactivity gets the 'command not found'
message.

Apps such as Firefox and Thunderbird work as expected from the command line.

I also tried this with xterm and I received the same results.

Desktop icons that link to a script and 'run in terminal' just die. They
function well when no konsole terminal interaction is used.

A little more information about laggy Krita. It turns out Krita was running
with default intel HD 530 graphic card(I have two on my desktop, one is nvidia
and the other one is intel obviously). And with intel card I experience
noticeable lags(which weren't there in krita 2.9.11), but with gtx960 I have no
lags at all(no wonder though). Hope this information helps.

When KDE applications create notifications, the first notification is quite
loud, and subsequent ones are quieter.

For instance, this bug happens each time I open System Settings.  When I modify
a field and then switch to a different tab, the notification is loud. 
Subsequent times, the notification is quiet.

This also appears to affect KDE's desktop's notifications.  The first desktop
notification sound is loud compared to the ones following it.

While jumping out of my seat is a good way to keep the adrenaline pumping, for
now I have disabled all notification sounds as a workaround :)

If they do not show up in the font choser dialog, then it is not a Konsole bug.
I am reassigning to neon developers to check for differences in fontconfig
settings, but I tend to believe you did not setup those fonts correctly.
